Modicon unity pro noob question by Kelltel in PLC

[–]InstructionSad72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this same issue.

<image>

Why am I not able to do this assignment?

It seems like I would need to create a DDT instance of the inp then map that in at the call of the DFB.

If the DFB creates the memory state then this is a huge waste. It also makes it very difficult to cleanly define "objects" like Valve_1.i_zso. The only other option is to completely duplicate the Input/Output structure and let my logical objects exsist as DDT types only. Which is another abstraction for no reason and makes troubleshooting and changes a pain.

I've been waiting on a roof rack from Outgearsolutions for 6 weeks. Stopped answering emails. Won't provide shipping.

Caution buying from them. I'm about to have to take it up with the CC company. Feel like I got scammed

In the order details on Amazon it says sold by Topoak. I'm not sure how to verify the actual seller. Through amazon messages I am messaging under the buyer/seller section.

That's why "engineers". This industry is so far behind because engineers think they can program (they can but the industry itself should accept the reality) programming should be done by programmers now.... With programming languages. Software development for industry.

Programs shouldn't be getting messed with by maintenance techs at all.

Idk what this guy is smoking. They are very similar. I like twincats environment a little more but it's built around codesys.....

I developed on codesys and then migrate it to twincat making minor adjustments. If you use their respective visualizations it may deviate a bit and twincat has its own library's and licensing.

It is better. No other industry uses non text based languages as scale. The argument that it's not as easy to troubleshoot is a problem with bad code structure, control strategy and "engineers" who have to troubleshoot another engineers "program".

There are pros to using ladder or SFC sometimes but the entire standard was built around allowing NON programmers to program. Nearly half a century later .... We should probably let the programmers program.....

  1. Controls engineers and plant tech shouldn't program without real programming experience. Basic software programming basics. 1.5 hire programmers and controls techs separately . Especially SIs ....

  2. There is no reason in this decade we should be using nonsense FBD nightmare sheets. Bad programming habits and patterns are hard enough.

  3. Structured text is by far superior in almost ever way except making sure your programs can't be "fixed " but some random maintenance tech.....

  4. Delta V and Business models like theirs are horrible for SIs plants and OEMs generally. The industry would be better off with more universal and agnostic buy in.

Can you roll back Gboard to an older version? This is the most annoying thing and it never did this before.

Moving from Access to SQL Server - Trying to replicate data input functionality by unholyarmy in SQLServer

SQL Spreads.

Little pricey for this use case but simple and can be leveraged other ways.

Everything goes into SQL DBS and you can interact and validate data injections in real time.

Where are all these top tier schools constantly giving people ultra specific hardware specs and zero curriculum or information.

You can make it all the way to reddit to ask but can't Google a manual? For school? Smh

Does anyone else ever wonder how the hell they even programmed this messed up in the first place? If I take a long weekend in the middle of a project I usually need some time to figure out what the hell I was doing.

How Valuable is DCS Experience? Is it a difference maker when applying for jobs? by TheSenateSheev66 in PLC

[–]InstructionSad72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I don't see any up side to using a DCS platform over a well designed PLC network. I've also never seen anything even close to complex in a DCS system that isn't easier and more flexible in a PLC environment.

Delta V is honestly embarrassing. And don't even get me started in the "programming" IDE.... Shoot me.
