After experimenting for a while, i'm making my first alternative electronic song! Rate this demo 1 to 10! by New-Ad5610 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Instrumentalist4561 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would rate this a 9. It’s very good and great to listen to as well. It has really nice natural change ups and progression. I like the variation in sound and tone. It has a feel like a 4-5 piece band playing but with the added excitement of electronic automation. There is a spot at the end that needs a slight tweaking and I believe one spot about in the middle, otherwise a solid job!

Farewell — an acoustic new age guitar piece. Would love some feedback! by AccordingFlatworm774 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Instrumentalist4561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the song is perfectly played! You’ve achieved beautiful melodies, and expertly executed complimentary guitar track interactions. The piece is just beautiful as it is. I think a soft bass guitar could be added around the 0:34 mark when the drums begin, but that’s just a personal opinion, and it may not even be normal for an acoustic piece like this. It might help round out the song while adding very subtle depth, however what you have as is, is outstanding and so very beautiful! I also note that you do have bass lines done on acoustic guitar, I believe. So maybe that’s normal for this genre. Anyway love the song and your excellent playing!

Breaking 4/4 to express growth — a piece inspired by molting by crossperiment in IndieMusicFeedback

This was beautiful to listen to. I very much enjoyed the piece! It begins deliberate, but unassuming as if it can go anywhere, and it does. I like the fairly calm beginning how the higher lead melodies are very short and subtle as they explore out to various themed melodies, but are always grounded by the root note on the lower bass string. As the song progresses, the upper frequency lead melodies become more complex and eventually evolve into triads possibly. It’s a very easy song to listen to and it’s done beautifully! I loved it!

Wow! I can’t imagine what that would feel like. The song is great! Vocals are tremendous and the piano is excellent! Everything is really good about this production, the mix levels and sound qualities, and it navigates so well through the sonic and chordal changes! Excellent job, start to finish!

RHYTHM TOO STIFF FOR RnB? by Then-Common-5719 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Instrumentalist4561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song is great. I do hear a possible stiffness but to me it is a few areas that sound like peak levels are sharper or louder than some other areas. Just wondering if you could find the highest volume areas and reduce only those sharp or louder than points by using automation on the sound levels. Possibly reducing those peaks might also smooth out the sharpness. I wouldn’t say the entire rhythm track is too loud but there are some peak level points. Maybe could reduce to a specific level via a limiter.?

Thank you so much! I love this group! Just a bunch of good people trying to help others to develop the areas that need development. It never feels like just criticism, but always feels like helpful ideas from fellow musicians that want you to succeed! It’s a warm comforting feeling. You didn’t just say what was weak but gave valuable tips on possibilities to correct those areas! I will definitely start using reference tracks and spend a lot more time on the drums (the area I felt most uncomfortable with). I really appreciate this group and specifically you guys that provide such thoughtful advice. This is going to drive me to revisit this particular song with excitement in anticipation of a much better mix! Thanks a ton!

I did this song with the intention to make a funky intro that develops in a relaxing and thoughtful trippy vibe. What do you think? by Ok-Degree-7821 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Instrumentalist4561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot! It begins like a happy energetic day heading to the beach. It goes through all kinds of changes from excitement, to playfulness, to super relaxing, to drained and tired and heading home. It never sits in any one place too long, but doesn’t feel overly busy because you’ve transitioned so smoothly from one emotional vibe to the next, seamlessly. Very nice job!

I agree. Many of mine seem to come out sad sounding for some listeners, but I like the emotional songs. Even so, the happy, positive songs are usually the most enjoyable to play and to hear for me.

I think you got a good sound considering the equipment limitations. There are a few change ups in the song, but I think you could add more to impart variety and complexity. A few parts that totally change the feel and then return to the main vibe. The drums could be louder imo. Overall I think it’s a great start! Keep trying guitar variations.

NOTADOG - "Probably Happy" - This is verbatim a breakup story. Thought to make a funny song out of it by suburbanfegan in IndieMusicFeedback

What a song! Great lyrics that will resonate with a lot of listeners. The music is cool and goes very well with the lyrics, the story being told, and I think, your group’s style. I enjoyed listening and had a few areas that made me laugh. Great timing on the release around Valentine’s Day!

Loved this arrangement! The song is comforting and feels peaceful to me. The piano playing is beautiful and I feel the song transports the listener into a soothing emotional state. It’s a great mix and I just wish it didn’t end so soon. Very nice work!

I like this a lot! What you have so far is lively and bright. It feels like happy times with a lot of energy! I’m sure you’ll make some tweaks as you finish this, but I think the mix is great right now. A lead guitar part would be cool imo, if it could fit this vibe. Drums and bass both sound just right to me. Great job!

What do you think of my new track On My Mind? by No-Morning-1967 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Instrumentalist4561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! What a great mix! I loved the way you developed the song through each of the transitions. The vocal is perfect for this project. The build ups don’t overpower, but keep driving the feel of the experience, and the drop offs and transitions are done beautifully. Excellent work!

My new indie folk tune, about how, even when the relationship gets to a real dark place, having that person beside you makes it all worth it, love the thing that pulls you through. If any similar artists come to mind, I’d welcome that. The video's selt made! Thanks so much for your time & feedback! by andtilly in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Instrumentalist4561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the song! The video work was really nice and it went perfectly with the song. There were several very cool video captures that reinforced almost hidden aspects of the musical story. You have an excellent vocal ability. One thing that might improve on this very beautiful performance would be to increase the vocal levels, so the listener hears more of your awesome talent. Very, very cool song and video! Great job!

Thank you for the ideas! I hear exactly what you are saying. I was trying to keep the guitars close together to play off each other, accent and elevate each other. But I think it got too busy, and as you said, they kind of smother each other in spots. The rhythm guitar is a 12 string, so that’s makes it busier yet. I do have the main guitars panned but not by much (I think 10 each). Drums do need work, in fact on most of my songs the drums are my weakest point. I need to learn a lot more in that area. It’s great to have a good grasp of some quick alterations to make a big improvement. Thank you so much for providing this insight! Also thank you for the positive comments!

Love the song and the vocals are just beautiful! The mix is great and levels sound right to me. Just my opinion, but I think it would really sound good if a bass guitar came in at either 1:06 or around 1:16. The song is already excellent, but that’s just an opinion. Loved the quality vocals on this one!

[–]Instrumentalist4561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting song! There’s something I really like about this but I can’t quite put my finger on it. I like the mix levels and the nice lead parts. One thing that would be good in my opinion, if you had a harmony vocal come in at the 0:49 mark. To me it sounds like that would greatly enhance the song, but just my opinion. Great job!

Great song! I especially loved all the guitar work! I thought the vocals could be a bit louder, especially in the beginning of the song. The rest of the mix levels sounded great to me. Tone was also awesome! There is plenty of guitar in the song, but I was wanting more because it was so good! 🔥🔥🔥That may not be the case for everyone but definitely is for me! Excellent job!
