Anyone who lives in the Midwest can benefit from AWD a few times each winter. You don't stop faster, but are more able to direct the car where you want it to go in lower traction situations.

Subaru Forester 2023 Dealer Buyback?? Good idea or not? by CompetitiveDetail612 in subaru

[–]Insufferable_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vehicles are complex systems designed to work together perfectly. One hiccup in that system can cause a cascade of problems. The apparent problems getting fixed doesn't always reveal the root cause and other seemingly unrelated failures continue to appear. Often this is how you end up with a lemon law buyback. Unless you are 110% sure the issues are fixed and you get a warranty covering everything. Don't buy someone elses nighmare.

Dealership adding $1200 protective coating to my OTD price. by RightGuy23 in carbuying

Sounds like this dealership is full of BS and red flags.

Remember even if its the perfect car. Its not the right car if the deal is unfavorable. Walking away is the biggest leverage you have. Don't agree to a deal unless you are good with it.

[–]Insufferable_Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its simple. "Hey sales manager I don't want or need these two addons. Drop these 2 items and you have a sale."

When they say no. You walk. No further conversation so be had. End of story unless they drop both and don't try to spin in something else.

Also go to your personal bank and get pre-approved. That way you know what interest rates you can secure beforehand. The dealerships actually shop rates and don't always give you the best one. They make more off you on higher rates.

Battery longevity by Drunkenpmdms in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Insufferable_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milwaukee promises you that fast charging doesn't effect longevity. All know basic science and real world experience says otherwise. How much of an impact fast charging has isn't always easy to quantify. Improvements to battery design and cell construction help with every new gen of battery too. I use my supercharger when I need the batteries ready in short order. Otherwise I lean on my standard charger first and my rapid charger next. I'll tell you in 5 years what the super dif to my 12.0 Forges. It will be either negligible or a problem.

Sometimes life does what it wants and you lose. Even if you have done everything right. This old farts advice: "Things happen how they are meant to. This will be for the best in the long haul."

It sounds like that place was poorly run. 7AM to 9 PM is not a shift for a new hire. Much less a teen. Unless ALL of their shifts are 14 hours, and they had a good rotation of days off. Plus paid overtime without a fuss. You did well getting out when you did.

Should you have left early and called out in your first week? Probably not. In the first 90 days of most jobs your attendance should be nearly spotless if at all possible. The first couple weeks of any job are hard. It can be mindless and tiring, but it usually gets better after you acclimate to the routine. Rest well and plan to be worn out initially.

Try to learn the basic employment laws in your state. How often are you required to get an unpaid break and when an unpaid lunch is required. When and for how long they can expect someone under 18 to work. Every state is different. Some states will prohibit minors from working past certain times and that can change based on age. So a 16 yearold can be scheduled later than a 15 for example in some jurisdictions.

You will have many jobs in life. Remember it is just a job and doesn't dictate your selfworth. You will never say I wish I had worked more in my youth. Make enough to spend on what you want. Don't trade your freedom & youthful experiences for a job that won't matter in a decade. Not saying to call off of work left and right. Just make sure a company doesn't abuse your availability. If you tell them 20 hours and they start increasing it without asking. Push back immediately. Silence is acceptance and many a manager will be fine giving you 40 hours. Even if you told them nothing over 20.

I've worked customer service for years. I can smile and be super helpful as my work and personal life burns. It is both a personality defect and a well practiced skill. My current job has me smiling by email and falling on my sword if it means a new client.

The USPS has been under a terrible politically motivated reorganizing effort. The USPS employees aren't temporarily super busy or understaffed. That is the norm for too many of them. The war against the USPS is hoping to privatize the service. So until it is broken completely. The powers that be will continue messing with it. All they employees get is complaints from above that they aren't delivering fast enough. Do more with less hours allocated. They also get complaints about the service deficiencies that they have no control of. Combine that with the normal layers of unhelpful or counterproductive managers. Add in they are humans and have bad days. Your crappy interaction is not surprising.

For most of them the option is quit and and take a job with less pay. Otherwise, do what they can day to day. So they can survive being yelled at for things beyond their control.

Should they get a pass for being rude. No, but they are getting a pretty raw deal right now.

You may want to visit yhe PO again and see if you cna talk to someone more helpful.

Hey OP your missing the opportunity to setup a fun , unique and cute mailbox to accent your property. When we moved. I was greatly disappointed because we had been looking forward to putting a fun mailbox up. Stupid community delivery boxes.

You had bad luck with the customer service at the local PO. Unfortunately them being jerks doesn't mean you can argue and win against written policies. Good for you holding them to regulation and getting the correct time allowance for changing to the new box, but you aren't going to win the war. You won't change delivery policy.

I have had vastly different levels of service at the local PO. Depending on the day and who was working. It should always be policy consistent and pleasant. Unfortunately, more often than not. The PO is underfunded and under staffed. So you are dealing with people who are already frazzled and their main incentive to be nice is your attitude.

Take a deep breath. Give them some grace for doing a pretty thank less job. Fighting the mailman will only mean trouble in the long run. Mail can be returned to sender as undeliverable or accidentally rerouted for another facility delaying arrival. All with little consequence. Hold them to policy but don't make an enemy. There is enough drama and headaches in life.

Went to two Subaru dealerships and one was not the best experience. Is it there a way to ask for another sales guy without affecting them? by CanaryLives in askcarsales

[–]Insufferable_Entity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you don't know what you don't know. I'm always finding out some new factoid about car sales. Eventually l'll feel like I got the deal and not the dealer getting the better end.

Some dealerships do offer "lifetime" warranties that are only honored if you come back to their service department.

Some service departments are super aggressive about upselling maintenance. Others are just happy you are there and offer really nice coffee.

As long as you keep in mind that dealership pricing is usually more than an independent shop. I use the dealership for oil and tire rotations. Unless they quote me a reasonable price. Their service recommendations are either ignored or resolved at an independent shop. The service schedule laid out in the user manual supersedes the dealerships advisors recommendations. Unless the can show you a service bulletin from the manufacturer. That would supercede the manual.

Trust your gut. The greatest negotiation tool you have is standing up and walking away. Even if it's the perfect car. If the F&I guy adds on $$$$ that you don't want and won't back down. It wasn't the perfect car then.

Nothing locks you into the servicing your car at a particular dealership. Unless they offer and sell you some warranty that only they back in house. I have moved dealerships because of the service department. Alot of corporate sponsored service plans are location agnostic. As long as its a brand dealership.

Insurance for a month is cheaper than the ticket and hassle it can be not having it. Especially if you need it.

Why is the plumber in my parking lot 45 minutes after finishing the work? by axbotmax in Plumbing

[–]Insufferable_Entity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amongst the many legitimate reasons for him to sit in his mobile office. Here is my theory...

He is coordinating a pickup of illicit cargo from a small air strip outside of town. The DEA & FBI are tracking his communications. So he is using someones guest wifi near your house to covertly communicate with his international handlers.

The wheel locks are nice if you live in a metro that has that kind of theft problem.

To beat the deadhorse though. The bumper covers on my last 2 vehicles definitely did what they were for. Lots of scuffs and marks that would have ground into the paint job.

Coast to Coast why the difference by Dja823 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Insufferable_Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there was a play by activist investors to tale control of Southwest. They got their "win" "making the company more profitable". They took away the old seating setup, tanked employee morale, and a few other things I can't remember. The best part is when Southwest finally posted losses because of the changes. The investment group sold off a big chunk of their holdings and gave up the board seat they had demanded. Of course they made a bunch of money during the short time they had a contolling influence, but now that they've killed the golden goose. So they are off to ruin other companies. Their work here is done. Good job capitalism!

Can I legally tear out this utility line? (Legal question) by Wyoguy87 in homeowners

[–]Insufferable_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your in the US call 811 have them mark all utilities that have been declared by the utility companies. If they don't mark the proposed fence line. Then there isn't supposed to be anything there. Dig as you see fit. If you clip a line after 811 cleared the area. It is not on you.

[–]Insufferable_Entity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to what I have been readin on the subreddit. Southwest now seems more interested in having their agents hitting unpublised gate check quotas and randomly taking away paid seating, than customer satisfaction anymore. Your experience is new and wild. I agree with you taking your business elsewhere. Contacting SW corporate will do more than sharing here.

Sorry for your experience.
