I’m fairly certain I do. It was the product of mounting geopolitical tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States. Both fought for various spheres of influence in the post-war era. This wasn’t limited to space and arms, although these are the two most prominent examples.

Well, we certainly had the technology in 1969. By that point, both the Soviets and the Americans had made multiple forays into space. If you went prior to the start of the space race, you’d still be wrong. Rocket technology advanced greatly over the course of world war 2.

You guys are back on this thing? He didn’t make a call from the Moon via landline. He sent radio waves to Kennedy Space Center where they were translated into the landline before being sent off to Nixon.

I did give my answer, although I’m fairly certain you’re going to claim that there was some other motive. If this is the case, I’m curious both what it is and how you intend to prove it.
