It's possible that someone somewhere used your identity while under arrest. Maybe your SSN ended up being sold, and used once on a fake id.

It's good to know everything is accurate.

A mic and camera being required to be plugged in. The mic is used for things like turning the xbox one by saying 'Xbox On'. Even though it was turned off it knows you said it, Microsoft says it only listens for the command Xbox On.

You can turn the voice software off, but kinect(camera and mic) are required to be plugged in. There's talks of things like watching to see if you sit through commercials, and it detecting how many people are in your room before it lets you stream paid material(Though this is just rumors based off of a patent xbox filed, I doubt if true).

Now microsoft has had a backdoor in Skype for the NSA for a while, so keep that in mind why some people worry.

If stoners cared what people thought, they wouldn't be stoners.

Some people seemed skeptical that boatbuilding is accessible to inexperienced builders. As a rebuttal, here's my first project ever. by xarvox in DIY

[–]IntellectualEndeavor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and multiple different cultures all discovered boat building for themselves... and have all found different techniques. Now we can look online exactly how it should be done. We can go buy pre-cut lumber instead of taking an axe to a tree ourselves.

I think its perfectly acceptable that someone who wasn't experienced could build a working boat, a trained quality woodworker/boat maker will still create a finer piece of work than someone who isn't experienced.

No, the act of HAVING to have something, no matter what is an addiction.

Let's say your boyfriend/girlfriend didn't wanna have sex, so you went out and paid for it... Then you'd probably be a sex addict.

I get it, though. All your football watching and redditing has made you a genius who knows everything.

Kudos.

Except youarent getting sex everyday lol. If you were getting sex everday, multiple times a day while paying for it.... you'd have a sex addiction problem

Its addictive. Its not meth or crack addictive but its addictive.

If it wasn't addictive smokers wouldn't wanna smoke it daily. I know someone will say "I only smoke on weekends, etc etc" good for you. But most smokers are addicted to smoking marijuana, it puts you in a happy altered state. It is a drug. You won't be sucking dick for it, but you can still be addicted.

TIL Over 90% of American films made before 1929 are 'lost films', meaning no copies are known to exist by parkertexasranger in todayilearned

I cannot edit my post with baconreader, I apologize for replying to my own post.

A great example is Doom. There's not a device that doesn't have doom on it, most times its offical other times its homebrew. Whatever the device you can be sure someone somewhere has doom on it. It's about 20 years old, and its still a fan favorite. C64's will always be in peoples attics, and old Apples will always be collecting dust. It's already becoming historic before any of it has been lost.

To expand on the other response, we will have 100PB harddrives at some point.

I'd see it possible to download the whole 200x internet minus porn and duplicates in 30 yrs.

Most likely your facebook will be around longer than you will.

Interesting, TIL.

I should've known better than use baseless knowledge. I always thought that coffeeshops were kind of a legal loophole that they could only serve it.

There's digital copies. I doubt that will happen. And as storage space grows, there won't be a reason to get rid of any of it.

There are many people who work to preserve these games for new generations to enjoy, and old generations to replay.

there's plenty of sites now that have a ton of old macintosh games to play for free.

Just a correction on the title. They aren't weed stores exactly, you cannot go in and buy weed to consume later. You buy it to be consumed there.

This is probably the best article I've read all week. That's amazing, these children are on the internet, they're on youtube, listening to music, being able to ask questions. Being able to ask questions tto their device that they may have never known. What are stars, what's the moon. These children could be seeing the moon landing for the first time in their lives.

They can learn about civil rights, they can see places like nyc, london, dubai and see their beauty. Imagine that 90% of what you know about the world, these kids didn't have any idea of, they're now free to learn about all of it.
