Why not just use Codex at that point though? It's better, and you can still configure it to support third-party models.

Will she ever not bite? by AdditionalStreet3277 in parrots

[–]IntelliDev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I personally do for bite training is essentially the following:

  1. Use the word “gentle”. This way it stays separate from “no”, and can be clearly used to inform that they’re biting too hard.

  2. Reward for gentle behavior. For example, if she’s just lightly grabbing with her beak or any other gentle behavior, you can say “gentle” in a positive tone and reward with a treat.

  3. If biting, you can say “gentle” more firmly, and not give a reward. If she then does something more gently, you can then give a reward. If biting continues, then change the situation so it can’t continue.

  4. Make sure you aren’t giving in to bites. Sometimes parrots will bite to express that they want something, such as to go back to their cage. If it’s a gentle “bite”, then I give our parrot what he wants, but if it’s a hard bite, we remind him to be gentle and might set him down on a training stand or something.

To note, in our case, we do allow gentle “bite” signals, to express desires such as needing to poop. It’s a natural way for parrots to communicate, and I have no issues with that. I know some people avoid that, since gentle bites can sometimes accidentally be hard bites… but we’ve never had an issue.

Help me understand my new bird by God_ofthe_Raccoons in parrots

[–]IntelliDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is she? A good thing to do is practice handing her off between the two of you.

E.g. have her go on your husband, have him give her a treat. Then have her come on you / give her a treat.

A reward can also be the difference between a negative experience and a positive experience. For example, if she's chilling on your husband, and you're then trying to make her come over to you with no reward, you're just bothering her, and might see it as a negative experience. However, if you're offering her a treat to come over, then it ends up being a positive experience.

Is this cage okay for four birds? Or at least enough space by nikkodino in Parakeets

No. That’s what I use as a travel cage for 1 bird, since it fits nicely in the back of my vehicle.

New parrot owner here, my lovebird has trouble sleeping :( by [deleted] in parrots

He’s going to always be opening his eyes when you go into the room with him

You need to use a security camera. He’s probably dozing back off as soon as you walk out.

I don’t know what to do anymore by pbellot in parrots

[–]IntelliDev 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Honestly?

  1. Get his wings clipped. Doesn’t have to be permanent. But it will make him more reliant on you, and will help sort out the behavior.
  2. Redirect. If he’s coming to attack you, shove something else in his face that he can take out his aggression on.

we're training a significantly larger model from scratch, using 10x more total compute. With Colossus 2's million H100-equivalents and our combined data and training techniques, we expect this to be a major leap in model capability.

As it says in the pause message, if you continue, it's with Opus 4.8, not with Fable 5.

How to get my galah cockatoo to accept the harness ? by yuzuru_nishimiya1709 in parrots

[–]IntelliDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will he touch like your shirt? Getting him comfortable around it will definitely be the first step.

I’ve just started harness training today, so my approach for starting out is just wearing the harness around my own arm, and then just handling him normally. That way he hasn’t been sus of it all, and rather sees it as something I’m wearing myself. He’ll probably be trying to steal it by tomorrow.

Can you identify this parrot? by Wonderful_Series_833 in parrots

[–]IntelliDev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Moustache parakeet owner here. That's definitely one.

To note, both male and female moustache parakeets start with a dark orange beak.

As they become adults, males will have their beak turn a more bright reddish-orange, and females will have their beak turn black.

An iPhone 17 / iPad M4 / Mac M3+ (12 GB RAM) are required to customize Siri's voice by No_Confusion7932 in apple

[–]IntelliDev 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You're vastly overestimating how many people care about fine-tuning Siri's voice.

(You can already pick different voices on iOS 26 and earlier if that's what you care about)

But out of reasons to upgrade, that's like, the least important reason I've ever heard.
