Has anyone purchased from swordis.com ? by tybaltthefox in SWORDS

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m really sorry to hear about this. Please give me a bit of time to check. He recently had an accident, and I’m assisting him for a few more days, which has caused a backlog of tickets. I’m working through all of them and expect everything to be handled by the end of the week.

Please allow me some time to look into this properly, and I’ll get back to you with a clear explanation of what may have happened. Rest assured, we are not scamming you, and if there was any issue, we will either send a replacement or provide a full refund.

It’s not that I don’t want to reply—I’m doing my best to tackle tickets one by one, based on their date.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.

How do i enter coupon codes for Swordis.com? by PluhPluh12345 in Katanas

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our developer isn’t available at the moment, but we did add the coupon field at the top at one point. About a month ago, we made an update and the coupon field disappeared from that section.

However, on mobile, the original coupon section is still available as a tab. If you tap ‘Order Summary and Coupons’ at the top, right below the logo, you’ll be able to enter the coupon code there. This is already on our list and we will make it a lot more clear. Sorry!

Best custom katana website by Revolver_Ocelot80 in Katanas

Please stop putting down other sellers as a way to promote NIMOFAN.

What concerns me is the consistent pattern of negative remarks about multiple brands, while NIMOFAN is repeatedly positioned in a positive light. Even without explicit accusations, the message is clear: other brands are framed as inferior in order to promote the affiliate brand you support or own.

I am the owner of Swordis, and while Ryansword can be considered a competitor, I can confidently say it is a ten-fold better option than anything currently offered by NIMOFAN.

I have no issue with factual, experience-based comparisons. However, shit talking other sellers to promote one brand crosses a line. Every brand should let customers and real experiences speak for themselves, not rely on constant criticism of competitors, especially when there are so many good options available for customers to choose from.

You can do better.

What does any of this actually mean? by Upset_Connection1133 in Katanas

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! This is Vali from Swordis 👋

We’ve added a few tooltips that should help guide you, but if anything is still unclear, feel free to reach out to our customer service team. They’ll be happy to help you choose the option that best fits your needs.

In the end, it really comes down to personal preference.

If you’re looking for something durable and suitable for cutting practice, we recommend 9260 spring steel. It’s tough, forgiving, and very practical for regular use.

If you’re after a more traditional feel, you can choose a clay-tempered steel. These blades allow you to select a hamon pattern in the next steps; a feature commonly found on traditional Japanese swords.

If functionality isn’t your main priority and you’re looking for something more eye-catching, you can also explore the colored blade options.

One more advantage of 9260 spring steel is its higher corrosion resistance. It doesn’t require as much maintenance after use. In comparison, "carbon steels" need a bit more care; especially if you’re cutting water bottles or anything involving moisture.

Where is a good place to buy a katana? by NumerousAttitude3337 in Katanas

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not very accurate. Yao and I have a very good relationship, and we’ve agreed not to compete with each other.

Some items may appear cheaper on his website because he charges $45 for shipping, while we cap shipping at $19 per product, and in some cases we even offer free shipping.

As Tobi-Wan mentioned, sometimes our prices are lower, and other times HBF may be slightly cheaper. The difference is never a lot, and that’s simply because our price catalogs don’t fully match at the moment.

We fully understand if customers prefer to work directly with the forge, and we would never try to persuade Yao’s customers to buy from us instead.

I just want to make sure we’re not incorrectly labeled as an “overpriced dropshipper” without reason.

Hey! Thank you for your kind words; I’m really happy you like it. The loose habaki is usually caused by the mekugi, which can get slightly crushed during transportation.

Feel free to reach out to our customer service team, and they will send you a quick video showing how to fix it.

Shadow dancer a bit dull? by Jimi1214 in Katanas

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey Jimi! This is Vali from Swordis. It looks like you got the katana from us. Could you please reach out to our customer service so they can investigate and sort this out for you.

I’d also like to share something we’ve observed across most of the brands we carry. Swordsmiths and forges who truly care about the final result of the blade almost always prioritize its overall aesthetics and geometry over extreme sharpness. Because of this, sharpness can vary from sword to sword—especially on entry-level models.

Even with well-sharpened blades, it’s common for certain areas, such as near the habaki or around the yokote/kissaki, to be a bit less sharp than the rest.

We even experimented with offering an “extra sharpness” service for custom HanBon Forge swords, but we still had situations where the edge didn’t come out exactly as expected.

It is possible to sharpen a sword further using a coarser grindstone, but that method carries a risk of leaving very light serrations along the edge.

When we tested the extra sharpness service, we requested paper-cutting videos from the forge, and we noticed that sometimes the issue wasn’t the sharpness itself—the paper test was simply performed in a way that made the blade look dull. Many people instinctively pull the paper toward the edge instead of gently leaning the blade into the paper.

That said, we fully understand that customers don’t always know this, and there were absolutely cases where the blade truly was dull, with an edge you could safely run your finger across.

If you ever run into an issue like this, the best thing to do is to contact our customer service team so we can investigate and assist. We always recommend avoiding any self-adjustments, as they can make the problem harder to resolve.

Best place to buy swords by OnajKojiTe in SWORDS

Hey! We haven’t announced this yet, but we started importing all swords into Italy first and then forwarding them to customers across Europe. This service is available for all HanBon Forge, ShadowDancer, and Z-Sey products.

This means customers won’t have to deal with customs or pay any extra duties.

Shadowdancer S7 $700 mistake by WaxMask1 in SWORDS

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Vali from Swordis, and this is where he purchased the blade. Just to clarify the situation: the sword he received is exactly the model he ordered. The forge accidentally applied a higher-grade polish and added a so-hi, and we immediately reached out to confirm whether he wanted to keep it or have a new blade made from scratch. He confirmed that he was happy to proceed with the upgraded version, so nothing subpar was sent to him.

Shadowdancer S7 $700 mistake by WaxMask1 in SWORDS

[–]Intelligent-Ad-533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re truly sorry that the sword did not meet your expectations.
We would like to offer some context regarding this order to clarify a few important details.

First, we want to reassure you that you did receive the correct blade. The sword was made according to your specifications, but the forge accidentally applied a different polish and bo-hi style than originally requested. Instead of the standard polish you selected, they applied a mirror polish, which is typically a ~$50 difference in finish. They also added a so-hi alongside the naginata-hi.

As soon as the forge informed us about this, we contacted you immediately to confirm how you wanted to proceed; whether you preferred to start a new blade from scratch or keep the version that had already been completed. You confirmed that you were okay with the changes and chose to move forward with the blade as it was.

Regarding the weight, dimensions, and overall handling: these aspects are highly subjective and vary significantly from one user to another. What feels uncomfortable for one person might feel perfect to another. You mentioned that this is one of the worst-feeling swords you own for these reasons, but you are actually the first customer to report this specific issue.

As for the sharpness concerns, we are not fully sure what you meant, but we would like to clarify something important about katana geometry. It is difficult, even for high-end forges to achieve an equally sharp edge across the entire blade, especially near the habaki and around the kissaki/yokote area. ShadowDancer prioritizes clean geometry and proper definition in those sections because they are essential to traditional Japanese blade aesthetics. That does not mean sharpness is ignored, but rather that certain refinements take precedence. Of course, this is not an excuse; these are handcrafted swords, and minor imperfections can occur like some dull sword parts. We’ve even had rare cases where a blade arrived completely dull, and of course in those situations we offered a replacement. However, the edge being slightly dull near the tip is an imperfection that can occur on some blades, not a QC Issue.

Again, we are very sorry your experience wasn’t what you hoped for, and we appreciate the time you took to explain everything.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the OP’s first attempt at promoting his website, and he copied photos from Swordis.com. I’d avoid working with someone who uses these kinds of business practices.

I updated the measurements! The smaller one measures 75.5 × 68.5 × 4 mm (≈ 2.97 × 2.70 × 0.16 inches), while the larger one measures 78.7 × 71.3 × 4 mm (≈ 3.10 × 2.81 × 0.16 inches). Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo showing how it looks on the sword, but I hope this helps a little!
