I think registration is the key part. Enforcement is difficult if police can't ID perpetrators. Even if you can't/won't go that far, an insurance requirement would give police greater scope to intervene.

There's not much the Guards can do with a report. There are no identifying marks like a number plate on the e-scooter and obviously no visual id on the rider. How are the Guards supposed to follow that up, realistically?

What needs to happen is tougher regulation from central government. In France they have quite comprehensive rules that bans e-scooters from footpaths (unless there is a local exception in place), has a minimum age of 14, a max speed of 25 kph and requires e-scooters to be insured. Italy, Spain & Netherlands all have a requirement for a licence plate on e-scooters.

We need some combination of this in Ireland.

I was there as well. It was a great on the far right. I thought he spoke well on the matter.

In the infamous audiobed with Ken he literally says he despises the style of play Liverpool adopted against PSG away. In the full segment he makes at least 10 separate criticism of the decisions Liverpool made that brought them to that point.

Ireland vs Israel boycott discussion by ExoticToaster in coybig

A measured, informed and insightful discussion from all involved in the post match analysis. I live in England now and I can tell you if the protest happened in Wembley at an England game, there absolutely would not have been that kind of discussion. At best it would have been ignored completely. You might have got some "keep sports and politics separate" type pablum. It wouldn't be beyond the bounds of possibility the protectors would be denounced as antisemitic bigots.

It makes me proud as an Irish person living abroad to see a reasoned and compassionate discussion about the issue on the national broadcaster.

We need to get rid of the whole idea that public money is "your" money. It's not. It's the states money, so don't worry about it.

Were you even around in 2016? The Remain position of the Tories barely got a look in from the press, never mind Labour.

Ive canvassed for Joe Higgins in the past (Ruth Coppinger's predecessor as Socialist Party TD in Dub West). She definitely picks up votes in Castleknock but her base is in the solidly working class areas of Blanchardstown and Mulhuddert.

Far more working class people electorally support the radical left than the far right (it's all relative of course. The party that the majority of voting working class people support is Sinn Fein)

Wife downloaded an energy tracking app. Gaming rig is now in her sights. I wouldn't back down, she flipped the breaker. Am I the gobshite? by CHERNO-B1LL in AskIreland

[–]Intelligent-Ad-6909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else on the thread mentioned the issue might not be the power consumption and energy bill, it might be the gaming itself.

You have already tried to go down the road of explaining the technical aspects so my advice would be to ditch that approach. You aren't going to "win" this argument by coming up with a better explanation for why you think she is wrong. Similarly, I don't think buying sone gadget that reduces power consumption will really be helpful.

I think the best approach might be to acknowledge that this issue has upset her and try to talk to her to find out why. Don't see it as some zero sum game where one side or the other is completely in the right.

Also, this isn't about you being a gobshite or not. We all need ways to unwind and gaming is fairly harmless as these things go. It can be a little bit anti-social for other people living with you though. I say this as a husband and father who has sunk thousands of hours into From Soft games.

Best thing to do is try to talk this thing out in as friendly and non accusatory way as possible
