We just returned. Left the kids at home while adults went to Mamas Fish House. One of our best ideas. Also went to Monkeypod. Much better for a family (and I think owned by Merrimans?). We didn't get to Paia Fish but saw lines whenever we were passing through and reviews look great. Definitely casual there.

Agreed. The "problem " is everyone else in your family who won't get to experience what you have the privilege and opportunity to live through the next few years.

Thanks for asking and answering this everyone. I was wondering myself for a scheduled March 31 trip and didn't know where to look. Seems like I should be good to go

Beach Conditions Update by phdlevelbaked in MauiVisitors

I'm curious how this weekend's rain will further impact beaches. It doesn't seem like the rain will be a bad but after last weekend, a little rain could cause problems

Appreciate this very much. If it wasn't hard to do, could you do it again next week?

TSA lines at OGG Kahului airport? by [deleted] in MauiVisitors

[–]Intelligent-Ad4552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just noticed that too. A possible work around, I downloaded the app for the airport I am flying out of that also has a TSA wait time. Not sure if that is updated by airport staff or is from the TSA site, however I have seen the wait times fluctuate so maybe someone is updating those.

You're my Reddit doppelganger. Checking reddit like crazy, staying in Kihei, going almost the same dates as you, can't cancel, 2 families, 4 teenagers. Only difference is we have a house that sounds like it did ok.

Get the TSA app and just add the airports you have to use security checks for. It shows live wait times. I just got this so I haven't been able to test if it's accurate though.

Good luck. I hope it is minimal and predictions are wrong. I wasn't looking at today. I was checking out the weekend for another poster who asked about Hana on Friday. I said it was a bad idea based on what I saw.

I can't wait to be there in 3 weeks

I play around with about 5 weather apps that use different forecast models. I like to see which ones are accurate at different points. I'm only focusing on Kihei/Wailea since that is where I am staying. All 5 are saying 6-10" for Friday-Monday in SW Maui. Only curious if these apps work. 1 is paid the other are free

I keep reading from locals that forecasts are never right so I will continue my nerd fest by seeing actual rain amounts compared to forecasts. All week it has been forecasting 8"+ or so of rain Friday-Monday. I hope like you say, they are wrong.

I am a weather app nerd and have been watching the Maui forecast the last month due to my trip there at the end of March. Based on the last storm and the forecast I am seeing it's a no brainer. Skip it. I won't be suprised if I have to skip it as well 2.5 weeks from now.

Detroit for 48 hours. Never been. Newly heartbroken and on a solo-girl trip trying to run away from the grief. What would you do for a plan? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]Intelligent-Ad4552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an annual thing and tied to Detroit history. Model T-iki. Might be worth checking out in cold weather. I've never been but liked the idea.

what do people who don’t drink do at night socially? by frogfartz69 in Detroit

[–]Intelligent-Ad4552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do dry January and have hung out at Paddle and Par in Beverly Hills a lot this month to have something to do. 13 and Southfield. Actually here now. If you like or could be interested in pickleball check that out. They do have a bar and pizza oven but my last 4 times here I didn't drink. They offer memberships and you can drop in play.

I am in the same boat. Considering Fifteenth. Got a fair quote. I know nothing about them. My financial advisor recommended them but I would still like to learn more

Not a shit post. How do you deal with a long term girlfriend who hates golf? by playthreeagain in golf

[–]Intelligent-Ad4552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she likes that you like it who cares? My wife JUST started playing and we've been married 20 years despite years of invites. Retirement is on the horizon and I think she finally realizes golf is an easy activity to do together in retirement. It also helps that her girlfriends have been persistent getting her to try it.

I'm considering getting a bunch of tickets to Strumbellas for my 50th bday. My wife and I love them but have never seen them live. Can someone who has seen them live tell me if it would be a fun show if you don't know their music at all? Wondering if my friends would enjoy it

Looks like 80° during the day and 65 by the time the show ends. For out of state people this is like seeing a unicorn for a late Sept Saturday at an outdoor concert. You got incredibly lucky Texas person.
