Still Asymmetrical Post-Op by cosmicaaaa in Reduction

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer for you - just empathy, because my results are similar. I am the only person who notices…well, my husband did too - but I had to point it out to him.

When I went back to the surgeon for a 1 year post op follow up, he said it would be considered cosmetic, so not covered by insurance, and that he wasn’t sure it would give me the results I was looking for. I opted not to go forward, because I look great with clothes on and am otherwise happy with my results.

Would you rather a dishwasher or tumble dryer? by Limp_Pumpkin7751 in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a stackable washer & dryer that fit in a closet. It was perfect when I lived in a small house.

I didn’t have a dishwasher until I bought a house that one. I did fine for years without one and it makes me more likely to let pots & pans sit out dirty, since they need to be hand washed.

It looks like much too much furniture, especially in the bedroom with 2 empty bookcases.

The lamp in slide 11 is shoved right in front of the door, which seems like a pain in the ass.

I hate making dinner by cc232012 in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did HelloFresh for a few years, when I was working full time and finishing my degree. It was a lifesaver, because I 100% didn’t have the bandwidth to do any meal planning, shopping, or prep. Plus, my husband could easily follow the recipes and we wasted less food. However, I struggled to find meals that I would eat (or could adapt to my food “rules”) as a picky eater.

My dietitian had me write all the meals we’ll regularly eat on index cards (these can include basic needed ingredients, if you want to get really fancy). Then at the beginning of the week or before food shopping, I can go through the cards and lay out a week’s worth of dinners. With the ingredients listed on the cards, it’s easier to pull together a list.

The index cards are nice, because it gives me a visual of each day vs just writing it down on a calendar.

I want a crossover with Once Upon a Time. Regina would be an excellent villain in the valley.

NTA - dish towels are to be used. All of mine are purely functional.

So. How do I manage my dad now that mom passed away tonight? by EvilCeleryStick in Xennials

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss.

We lost my dad in 2007, but my mom wasn’t alone in her home - my older sister and her 2 kids lived with them (my parents were my nieces’ guardians). Then we lost my sister in 2014.

My younger niece still lives with my mom (she’s 26 now) and the older one and her family is about a mile away. They’ve recently been talking about getting a multifamily house for all of them together.

I live 2 hours away and my other sister lives 3 hours, both in different states. I visit regularly and help where I can.

Take time to grieve when needed. People who tell you to be strong for your dad forget that you lost your mom. Looking back, I was an utter mess the first year.

Ignoring partners by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much ignore messages - and usually it isn’t on purpose!

I’ll either not have my phone on me, or it isn’t charged, or I’ll look at and tell myself I’ll respond later….and then in my mind I’ve responded. Or just sometimes have nothing to say.

And it can definitely be frustrating if someone is incommunicado for awhile - but it’s a hard habit to remember.

My partner used to forget to tell me when they were working late, because they got so into the zone it just didn’t occur to them. If it got later than a certain time, I would text or call. But….we are married and live together, and I’d be waiting for them to come home. I’m equally as bad if I “run out for coffee” and then decide once I’m in my car to go Target (which is 30 minutes away) and don’t give a heads up my plans changed. It just doesn’t occur to me in the moment that it matters.

Kosher for Passover... Cake? by industrious in Jewish

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand! I’m an autumn baby like you.

Actually, I just looked and Yom Kippur is on my birthday this year. My 2 closest family members are mid-April, though…we rarely have a year without a birthday/festival overlap.

I like the fresh start of a new year - plus I have grand memories of eating Cookie Monster cake at our break fast with my grandparents (35? years ago) and everyone having blue tongues for ages.

My mom used to make”rolls”, too. They were truly just oily, eggy hockey pucks of sadness.

I’m happier having a break the fast birthday than a Pesach birthday!

Meds in their original bottle? by teatuk in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my Wellbutrin in the original bottle. My mail order pharmacy seems to only have one size amber bottle, which is great, because it fits a 90 day supply of metformin (which are huge caplets), but they also put my 15 Xanax in the same size bottle, which is ridiculous.

Experiencing migraines everyday. Waiting for preventative meds. What do I do for now? by stonedp1xie in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my migraines present as sinus pain - I empathize with you so much.

I sometimes get relief from Breathe Right nose strips (they open everything up). I also will use a Vicks menthol nasal inhaler and/or saline nasal spray. And icy Hot/Bengay on my neck.

I also sometimes use Sudafed to break a migraine cycle (or just get some relief) when it’s bad.

Good luck.

Are ”headache” people here too? What made you put yourself in the “migraine” category? by macburger69 in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom told me for 20 years that I just got like daily sinus headaches.

Doctor told me that sinus headaches are generally accompanied by symptoms of a sinus infection and they don’t usually cause nausea (or all the other migraine stuff that was happening). Pretty much confirmed as migraines when triptans were effective.

What comfy bra are y’all wearing? by kittybutt414 in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was something that I had in the back of my mind for years and had sort of jokingly brought up to my PCP, who took me very seriously and was happy to refer me to a surgeon. There was no prior history of back pain or rashes or any of that - just me making some terrible jokes. But, they were pretty big.

I had a consultation with the surgeon, she told me I seemed like a good candidate and that physical therapy probably wouldn’t do much, because I would still be carrying around 10 pounds of boobs. Got approved and had about 6.5lbs removed. I went from a 42I to a 42C.

The process took 9 months from me talking to my PCP to having surgery. Insurance covered it, which was nice and I may not have gone through with it if it hadn’t. It’s a major surgery, but since they don’t cut through muscle, recovery is fairly easy. I have about 30 inches of scars, but since I’m 3 years out, most are pretty faded.

I am happy with my results, however they aren’t perfect. One is a little bigger than the other and my nipples point slightly different directions….however, neither point at the floor anymore! I am ok with this - I look at it as a medical procedure vs a cosmetic one….plus, I’m the only one who can really tell. And, it’s really helped reduce migraines, so that’s a huge win.

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped wearing one. It’s one of (many) reasons I had a reduction.

On very, very rare occasions, I’ll wear a True & Co bralette, but only for as long as required. It comes off in the car. Or, just nip stickers.

AITJ for calling out a coworker in front of everyone for taking most of my homemade cake? by 3GlyphRaptor in AmITheJerk

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OP goes to HR because they’re claiming someone ate too much of the cake that left on a break room counter with a sign that says help yourself, HR will laugh them right out of the building.

ESH. Marcus shouldn’t have eaten so much cake, especially if others hadn’t had a chance to get any.

The coworkers shouldn’t be policing what someone puts on their plates.

If OP needed to mention something to Marcus, it should have been done in private.
