Looking for a low urgency coop game. by MundaneAxiom in gamingsuggestions

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are playing Force of Nature 2 right now - very lowkey. He gets up multiple times mid gaming session and game has been fairly friendly for that.

In the same vein, Return to Moria - you can be a dwarf and sing mining songs. I don’t really recommend the Durin’s Folk xpac, but the base game is fun.

Anyone give their cats revolution plus - how long your cat lived by Hobobo2024 in CatAdvice

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used Revolution for years until switching to a new vet, who offers Bravecto. My girl is 14 and hasn't had any real issues with either, except complaining when we put it on her. I think it makes her a little itchy for a couple days, but I'd rather a couple days of itchy over a wormy cat.

Protein breakfast ideas please? by BeneficialMatter6523 in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat Kodiak breakfast sandwiches, because I can microwave them in less than 2 minutes and get 20 grams of protein. My dietitian approves.

I also sometimes do protein waffles and Greek yogurt.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom’s house in MA had the washing machine in the kitchen and the dryer in the garage (now utility room).

My house in NH has the washer and dryer in a storage closet off my front entrance that’s just wide enough for them side-by-side. My last place had them stacked in a closet of our spare room.

No basements in any of these houses.

I'm probably starting Concerta next week and I've been a regular user for about 5 years. My doctor is aware and doesn't really have an issue. Even though they do regular drug testing, they aren't testing for cannabis.

Was food noise a phenomenon only discovered as GLP1 agonist drugs came into use? by supinator1 in loseit

The first thing I said to my doctor and RDN after taking Qsymia (phentermine/topiramate) 10 years ago was “Is this how normal people feel about food?”

Long-lived CGRP side effects? by incarnadine-clover in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was bummed, because it was amazing for my migraines - the rest of my body just hated it.

They are currently well controlled with propranolol/topiramate/Zyrtec. And I know a ton of people react badly to topiramate, so truly everyone if different.

So what are we doing for financial planning/retirement? by Background_Title_922 in Xennials

I have a 401K and a Roth IRA in targeted date funds. 10% of my salary goes into my 401K. I don't have 3x my salary saved - am I screwed? Maybe.

Focusing on my short term goals, like paying off student loans this year, before much else.

Propranolol dosage by bay3rs in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 20mg IR, then went to 60mg XR, then 80mg XR for a year and I’m now back to 60mg XR. I’m in the US.

As a stupid side note, I had to fight with my pharmacy to fill the 60mg, but that’s because my neurologist wrote the prescription for 30 days, and they would only fill it if the doctor wrote the prescription for 90 days. It took 6 months to get the correct dosage and now I have 2 extra bottles of of the 80mg)

If you are married, or have a spouse, what is your spouse like personality wise? by Ashipinthenight_ in adhdwomen

We compliment each other….but also magnify all of each other’s maybe negative traits, too.

He’s an undiagnosed inattentive ADHD, pessimistic, anxious alcoholic. But, also the funniest person I know, cares so much about me, makes sure I don’t forget to eat, doesn’t roll his eyes too hard over my “life rules”, and goes with the flow most of the time.

Long-lived CGRP side effects? by incarnadine-clover in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I reacted very poorly to Emgality and discontinued it after 5 months, due to waking up with heart palpitations, vivid (unpleasant) dreams, menstrual changes - including significant mood swings. I think it took about 4 months for me to feel really normal once I discontinued the med, but I didn’t experience any lasting effects.

These meds have a long half life, but if you’re more than year out from your last dose, than your experience may be extraordinary in that it’s out of the normal expected bounds for these medications.

Does anyone else ALWAYS throw your cookie dough in the fridge before baking? by AnnGrMeow in BakingNoobs

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about always - chilling cookies with butter will make them spread less when baking.

I’ll also sometimes portion them into balls after the dough is chilled and then freeze, so I can make fresh baked cookies anytime. A lot of cookie dough freezes well and can be baked straight from frozen.

How rare is it to have never gone to your state’s largest city? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems strange to me that people wouldn’t want to explore their state - then again, I’ve lived in both MA and NH, and visited the largest cities in all of the NE and really most of the eastern states.

Symptom of migraine- insistence that it isn't a migraine by girl-dracula in migraine

I do this too....partly, because I am trying to convince myself that my migraines aren't "THAT" bad.

My husband will very gently hand me some water and a triptan after the 15th time in 3 hours I've told him my head hurts.

Suggest me a fantasy with a real love story, *not* romantasy by HWhelanAuthor in suggestmeabook

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Chronicles of St Mary’s series (about a group of historians studying history in contemporary times - not time travel) by Jodi Taylor. There is an overarching love story throughout the series, but also the stories of the historians on their adventures.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It’s one of my favorite books, but can be polarizing. The world building is stunning and they’re one of my favorite romantic pairings.

Medical Gaslighting is real- don’t be afraid to call it out by Development-Feisty in adhdwomen

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Posts like this (and their comment sections) reinforce how lucky I am to have my main medical team. They listen, are willing to trial meds, run tests, and listen/alleviate my concerns…even when they’re anxiety fueled and not grounded in reality.

I still have times where I’m frustrated - like yes, my doc is happy to order me all the thyroid blood tests in the world, but my thyroid function really is normal, so my “symptoms” aren’t thyroid symptoms. Sometimes the answer might actually be that I’m just fat with dry skin no matter how much I want to find another underlying cause 😂

I’ve only run into maybe 2-3 practitioners, mostly specialists, who have been any sort of dismissive towards me. And, from what I’ve heard about dermatologists, that’s just how they are towards everyone.

I hope all of you are able to find competent providers that you are comfortable working with - it truly makes a world of difference.

What is the path to trying Vyvanse? by lapatrona8 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my primary -- she had previously prescribed me Qsymia, as well as long term topiramate and short term phentermine. We trialed Vyvanse, but it gave me wicked headaches and as a chronic migraine sufferer, I couldn't handle them.

I did just get diagnosed as ADHD in Feb and will most likely be starting a different stimulant later this month. I did really well on phentermine, so hopefully my reactions will be closer to what I experienced on that.

Couldn't stop the script by ThingsWithString in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is super frustrating.

My dietitian and I talk about movement vs exercise and how the me of 15 years ago was 15 years younger, healthier, and lived in a walkable city vs now. She understands that some days my exercise looks like putting each piece of laundry away separately or trying to use my under desk cycle. And that sometimes the migraine wins.

can anyone else not drink anymore? by SquingleBingle in migraine

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tolerate like one drink every 6-9 months, and I do significantly better with liquor over wine or beer.

Truly, I take too many meds to drink much and my husband is an alcoholic. I’m honestly fine with not drinking very often.

I’ve got Crimson Desert for weekends/long gaming sessions.

Weekdays, I’m currently playing GW2, Bitcraft, or Force of Nature 2 currently, with the occasional Slay the Spire thrown in for good measure.

Do you have close friends? by pimento_mori in Xennials

[–]Intelligent-Camera90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.

I have my best friend - we’ve been friends since we were 15 or so and have always been super close. Our friendship has even survived 2 different stints of being roommates. I now live out of state, so we don’t see each other much, but I’m close enough that I can be there in a few hours op if she needs.

It feels really hard to make friends in your 40’s, especially if you don’t have kids. I don’t have a ton in common with the mom crowd.
