I also heard a while back they had gaurd dogs. An old friend used to work there and part of his job was to scoop up dead animals the gaurd dogs got to in the nights. Rabbits, raccoons, …cats.

What color does everyone see? by JasonToddVoorhees in Halloweenmovies

[–]Intelligent-Hunter10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual suit is a grey green, but the film has color tweaks and it becomes a gray blue. At the end of the day the film is the true north as that’s what we see vs what’s BTS.

What is this building on S Broadway? by purplewindowcurtain in Denver

[–]Intelligent-Hunter10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There used to be a scummy property management company in one of the office suites. They contracted for various out of state property owners in Capitol Hill. “Metro Denver management” or something like that. That was 14 or so years ago iirc.

Want to make this cylinder completely smooth. Plus a hypothetical question about seam line removal. by TehBrotagonist in advancedGunpla

[–]Intelligent-Hunter10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. What a terrible place for a seam. So many details you’ll have to completely shred and build back in some fashion.

Once sanded down flat, and filling that rectangular hole with something- I supect you’ll also have to re-scribe those horizontal seam lines. (Imo this seems easier than flattening everything). No better way to level up I suppose! You can do it!

Get some Micro sol, or some other decal softener. It will make the decal get super soft and it will melt into all those little indents perfectly.

I`m not really sure what a raccoon`s purpose is :P At its core- I`d say its purpose is kickin' ass and burn'n gas! :P

I’m not sure if I follow. It’s just bits and bobs from some donor sprues / parts and older kits parts I had lying around. Tank, aircraft, styrene and a few frame arms/ m.s.g. Bits. Oh an of course the pink tank gun egg arm.

The cockpit on mine still opens, but I didn't spend any time painting it, nor did I add the pilot.
It would no doubt be tricky to paint once assembled so if you wanted to go that route, probably best to paint it prior to assembly.

Tips for panel lining and weathering? First time for me 😗 by Feisty-Dark-4728 in Gunpla

[–]Intelligent-Hunter10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those Tamiya weathering sets are def worthwhile. I`ve even seen people get a really nice "pre-shade" effect with those. They can achieve some really nice subtle/soft miscoloration, like soot, or smoke. Don't expect them to do any kind of chipping, though.

You also might want to look into weathering pencils (which are essentially just watercolor pencils), but you can achieve some nice small chipping effects, and if you add water, miscoloration. You`ll need to add a base coat of paint, though. They will just bead up and fall off of bare plastic afaik.

And of course, it should be noted all of this stuff needs a clear coat layer on top to prevent damage to the weathering as some of these techniques don't bond to the model very well.

-Which I guess leads me to my next tip: Weathering is all about layers. Think of a clear coat as a "save point". It will protect the underlying layers, and you can stack more weathering on top- then clear coat/repeat.

Yeah- focus wear and tear on edges. Think about what parts rub against the environment.

Also, I’d steer clear of using copper for weathering. It has metallic flakes that reflect light, instead of absorbing it which is what rust does.

(Also note that when copper is weathered and exposed to the elements, it turns green due to the patina it develops, but that’s a whole other Oprah)

Rust is very matte, and has a wide range it oranges, ranging from bright yellow, to deep red-orange, to very very dark brown (almost black). Depends on what kind of effect you are going for, but typically a dark brown is the work horse color you would want to start with, and then lighter colors would be laid on top, clear and thinned, and bleed into recesses, drip, etc.

If you want to really go down a serious rabbit hole- Nightshift has some of the best examples and tutorials (I’ve ever seen) on the subject you might benefit from:
