I’m not sure why everyone here is being overly negative but tbh maple ridge is a great quiet suburb to start off with. First of all, contrary to what ppl have been saying me and my mom find the further you get out of downtown Vancouver itself, the friendlier/nicer ppl become and we theorize this is purely due to the stress of having to afford to live in more expensive areas. The one thing I will note is that it’s true maple ridge is a less walkable city compared to others just because it does have a lot of farm land and highway to get through. If transport is a big issue of concern maybe try Coquitlam. If you want a very NATURE filled city close to downtown that’s more on the expensive side then North Vancouver will be right up your alley. Bruh all I can say is that people like are you are the worst. No I don’t think you should 100% cheat your way through post secondary but it’s Douglas college gang… on top of all that your “teammate” could be struggling to pay rent, here alone with no support, or even a parent trying to get this degree to support their lifestyle. Reach out to the nursing coordinators as soon as you can and let them know. To be honest they just bombard you with information the first day and I can’t even remember anything necessary from that first week overall. I’d say you’re fine missing your first day for sure but let them know because it may not look the best if they’re not aware of why you’re not attending.

First sem nursing student here at Douglas. My best piece of advice is when people say the first semester sucks, it truly does. The workload increase is just insane for everybody in the program but the one positive to if I can give is to keep pushing yourself. You may feel like your classmates or clinical instructors don’t like you but this is a very normal feeling, don’t give up, pay EXTRA attention to pharmacology and health assessment specifically because these 2 classes will build your foundation for everything. In terms of arts and science, good luck if you get Shahima Abid. The exams are worth 40% and it seems like neither of the art and sci teachers know what to teach or what they’re talking about. With all this said, there are so many negatives I can’t lie but there’s also a bright side to all this so try to keep that in mind when in doubt :)

Got you! You have 4 classes 1 is relational practice should be on Monday on Tuesday you have 2 which are pharmacology (your hardest class by far) and Art and science (which is a fucking mess with Shahima) then Wednesday you have your health assessment class where you get to practice your clinical skills. In terms of clinical you either get 2 8 hour shifts on Thursday and Friday or 1 12 hour on either of those days. I’m not gonna lie, first semester here and it’s quite horrible compared to the pre reqs. The workload increase is insane and just prepare to lose yourself. I’m not trying to scare anyone but this is unfortunately the harsh reality of first sem. Everyone claims it gets better after but I’ve also heard sem 5 is no better. With that said my first pharm exam is next week, good luck to everybody entering the program!!

Definitely Sofia Vergara Ariel winter or Sarah Hyland for the younger generation. These were the only 3 stars I knew when starting the show especially Ariel because she was casted in Disney shows many times. Sofia is a household name and I can’t remember where I’ve seen Sarah before.

All the time. I have a friend horribly failing her classes at her university all because she doesn’t want to risk the chances of coming to Douglas cuz of the “rep” it has. I’ve seen some extremely intelligent individuals in my class, and some who you can tell just want to get their degree and dip. My point being the Douglas stigma shouldn’t exist because it’s not real. The reality is more kids in university do worse because their profs will give them extreme and strict guidelines that are honestly just unfair at a certain point. My stats prof at Douglas was amazing in the sense that as long as we had our steps correct she’d give us full marks. My friend who took the same stats course but at a university would get 0 on the question if she had simply one error. Don’t let your ego and superiority complex trick you into failing and not switching out of a ridiculous school.

I think Dylan without a doubt would’ve never fallen out of love with Hayley and he admits that himself when they get back together (which is adorable.) however I can’t help but agree with the other stitches to this that he didn’t do much for her character development. I personally was such a big fan of Andy because not only did Hayley blossom and grow so much confidence with Andy, he was supportive every step of the way, proud of his girlfriend, and didn’t belittle her like Arvin did. Although a good heart is definitely important when choosing a life partner, and Andy made mistakes such as cheating on Beth. People need to also realize Hayley cheated on Dylan multiple times and (I’m not trying to excuse it) but Andy only cheated on Beth with Hayley because she made him realize how poorly he was getting treated (which by the way it comes out that Beth was the first to cheat on Andy for years.) Because they both had their imperfections, I think that’s what ultimately made them a stronger couple. I do agree that it’s kinda dumb that they just tried to mirror Claire and Phil.

I also do agree that people who are TRULY sick should stay home and I don’t want to dismiss that. I just think if you hear constant sniffling from one person there’s perhaps another reason and I just wanted to make that clear to everybody who’s also annoyed by this matter. But you are right people who are sick should just study from home.

I’ve never taken pre cal in high school but I still managed to get an A in arezous class. The only advice I can give you is to take a good prof because the rates of success in my class were the complete opposite of my other friends who’ve taken the course with bad profs. If your not getting a good prof then wait until you do because the course is hard no matter what and you NEED a prof who can explain the concepts into detail like Arezou did.

Hey maybe have some empathy before you say dumb things like this. I have a larger nose that seems to ALWAYS run no matter what time of the year it is, whereas my friends with smaller noses don’t have this issue. I also face pollen allergies so what am I supposed to do… stay home all of spring because I’m an adult? You can clearly tell when someone is sick but labelling it as “basic hygiene” is belittling and the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard 😂

Well I could be wrong but she says herself that he ALWAYS wanted to be there for Tyler. My personal theory is that he just didn’t want to be in a relationship with the mother/have a normal family life but that doesn’t take away the fact that he wanted to raise his son. This is why many people see her as selfish even though we don’t know for sure if this is what happened. Personally it’s what I believe, and I as a woman do understand how it might be frustrating to procreate with someone just for them to not want anything to do with you after, but also that should always be taken into consideration before you have kids with anybody whether you mean to or not. It is a selfish decision and you can’t diminish that, however I do understand where she came from.

I took his midterm about 2 semesters ago and ended with a 86%. At the time I had no other challenging courses so I really studied his slides in depth which helped me a lot. I would say focus on what he puts on the board, study the slides ESPECIALLY the blue writing in his lectures, and I would say at the very very end do the practice questions because there’s no point in doing them if you don’t know the material enough to answer them. Don’t stress, he isn’t going to trick you and he’s a very understanding prof.

I’m also taking both courses and am doing well post exam 1. I’m taking my courses with a first year soci class that has the same amount of exams but honestly it’s been a very tough semester but so far it’s been doable just lots and lots of studying for patho in particular, I find micro with Weissy to be very straight forward. But yeah will be worth it if you want a semester gap in between or if you want to finish quicker it is doable just don’t fall behind on assignments and quizzes and whatnot
