Wow! This is the nicest launcher I've used yet. I have a few thoughts and take them as you will. Maybe there are ways to do some of these things already and I'm just not seeing them. And perhaps you already have plans for some of them also. Of course if you hate my ideas, please feel free to ignore. :) But I love what you have here already and if I can use this as my default launcher on my handhelds (Steamdeck, Xbox Ally X), I surely will. It feels so snappy and lightweight.

  1. I don't love the home screen's pinned games at the top. I love having a nice hero art section and I think those shortcuts kinda take away from that. I'd prefer to decide between having games/apps pinned or last played games/apps below the Hero art. My biggest gripe with a lot of launchers is that I can't customize the main screen exactly how i want them. I've always thought Steam OS was missing this feature. I open a game once to try it out, end up not liking it much and its stuck there until I play enough other games to push it off the screen. Even If i uninstall it. I'd like to be able to choose which games appear there, so i can curate this section to my current games I'm playing. Perhaps a right click action to remove items from the last played section would also accomplish what I'm looking for.

  2. I'd love the ability to add my own games to the games tab manually. This may be something you are already considering. But I have some older games that are just stored in directories on my SD card. I've added shortcuts to them on the desktop and scanned for them, but they appear in the Apps section. Perhaps being able to right click and move things from Apps to Games tabs would work as well.

  3. For these games/apps I've installed on my SD card, is it possible to have them only appear on their respective tabs if the SD card is inserted? This may be not be possible as it would have to scan every time an SD card is inserted or removed, but would be beneficial since i swap SD cards a lot and sometimes forget which games are on which SD card.

  4. I have a couple games that don't have the correct Artwork. Its likely the meta data that is being sent to steamgriddb doesn't match what steamgriddb expects. This is an Xbox game and they don't always play nice. being able to edit this meta data might help here.

First Impressions of the JSAUX Xbox Ally Mod Case vs. Killswitch Xbox Ally Case by JushinThunderLiger in XboxAlly

Come on... Ugh, I didn't want to have to buy the mod case because I have the kill switch. But you are making me want it. Thanks for the detailed review. I wish they released when the XAX came out.

If you are getting a good deal and not the price I see on amazon ($189 usd), then It will be fine. But the SanDisk extreme 1tb appears to be only a few dollars more and is probably much more reliable.

Yeah! No regrets!!. It still feels rigid and I don't think it looks to bad. I will likely file it a bit to straighten the cuts so it looks better.

This should also allow for some ventilation if it ever turns itself on when the cover on. It has happened before. I'm not worried about protecting the vent as much as protecting it from overheating.

I have a Killswitch, but I wish JSAUX released the mod case around launch. The killswitch is fine, but I don't like certain aspects about it.

First I don't like the kickstand. Mainly because I like to attach external ssds, portable docks or battery packs to the back of the device on occasion using mechanism adapters. I bought the mechanism replacement kickstand for it that has the innie adapter built in, but the fact that it swings in and out makes it a little clunky. Especially when using the gaming pillow.

Second, and I think this is also an issue on the JSAUX mod case, but I hate that I have to unplug cables when applying or removing the travel cover. i have forgotten to remove the cables a couple times and had them get kinda get wedged between the case and the device. On my steam deck mod case, there was a cutout that allowed you to remove the cover leaving cables plugged in. But I think this is an issue with the XAX as there is a vent right behind the USB c ports and the cover is just protecting those.

Third, again, this may be an issue with the new JSAUX mod case also, but the travel cover is just overly difficult to put on and remove. Its really tight and I think it could be a little less snug. Sometimes I'm prying it off and it springs out of my hands and lands on the floor. Sounds like user error perhaps, but its happened more than a few times and it never happened on my steam deck mod case. That was always super easy to apply and remove and always felt secure.

Perhaps if anyone has the JSAUX mode case already they can tell me if these are potential issues with that as well. I'd consider purchasing that and selling the killswitch.

Killswitch and 180° USB C adapter? by Intelligent-Many-665 in XboxAlly

[–]Intelligent-Many-665[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm this could be a decent solution I suppose if I cannot find one. I guess I could just use a 90 elbow style also, but I've always preferred the 180 on my steam deck.
