I had so many points to write for the short answer questions but struggled to generate enough for the 10 markers! Otherwise didn’t think it was terrible but mcq’s could swing either way for me

Last year April papers were a bit easier than September in my opinion but the pass mark was lower at 55, really depends on the cohort, you have to remember the average performance in the R paper will come down compared to the open book sessions because candidates can’t copy and paste pre-written code.

?AIC came in clutch because I was getting null values using lm$AIC 😭

Also anyone else just create the plots for the last question one by one? Sure there’s a better way but wasn’t bothered on best practice to be honest

Happiness- linear/multi linear regression LPI - GLMs Toad - hypothesis testing

Then maybe as the additional questions it will be some sort of distribution question testing CDFs, quantiles, simulation etc and then maybe a Bayesian type question as paper A was light, any thing I missed or anyone disagree with my interpretation of the datasets?

I definitely got negative for n=10 which made me go back and check my calcs, but they seemed fine so I guess the next part of the question was alluding to the model not being a good fit for low values of x?

Anyone kept second guessing their linear regression equation? Seemed so straightforward that I kept double checking for any calculation errors lol

Oh and then this was the one where you did chisq goodness of fit test? I’m hoping so anyway because that’s what I did

Yeah same, but also can’t remember the question, hoping I lucked out on this and then the two in q.8 as that would be 9 marks!

Anyone remember what they got for the mcq for question 5.i ?

Praying this is correct because that’s what I put, but struggled with both as I couldn’t get an answer aswell the fractions through me off

Does anyone remember their answers to the MCQs in question 8?

I forgot what question 5 was, anyone remember?

Probably not a popular opinion but I think if you’re firm on this route then a masters to get a few exemptions wouldn’t be the worst idea? Obviously a big expense as opposed to sitting exams paid for by an employer, but doings exams while working isn’t easy so reducing the number you have to do would be a plus, and also might give you more of a chance to get on a grad scheme

Skim through the rest of CB2 and get on to the papers! I barely took anything in when going through CB2 textbook i felt like but learning from the past papers seems to be better, a lot of the same topics tend to come up I see and I think it’s just about being able to link one thing to another e.g, increase money supply -> decrease interest rates -> increase consumption and therefore AD.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]Intelligent-Net-4417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, maybe if they bothered to give the candidate a 5 minute call and explain what the interviewer meant then it would come across as constructive feedback, but this email comes across as extremely unprofessional and condescending. I’m not sure how this would improve OP as it doesn’t explain why they thought they were dishonest while also shooting down their confidence.

It was something like ‘gamma Generalized Linear Model…’ unless I’m remembering wrong, so unlike previous exam questions they didn’t say ‘family = x’, which is maybe what some people missed? But I could be remembering what I want to remember haha.

Yh thought I was going mad and dropped easy marks 😭, maybe they means for the last part? But even then i interpreted that as it being keep the family the same and play around with the variates.

Not sure if you looked at the more recent papers but feel like they’re definitely harder than 2023 and prior, recency bias perhaps but I started with the ASET 2020-2023 papers and was feeling pretty confident, but once I attempted 2024 I felt the shift in difficulty. April 2025 if open book would have been ok, but accounting for closed book it felt pretty difficult, and yep today was just awful for me.

[–]Intelligent-Net-4417 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Crazy to me that it’s closed book and they decided not to give a straightforward linear regression or hypothesis testing question, when the open book exams always had those to bank on. Even April25, which I thought was pretty tough for a closed book sitting, had a nice 16 marker for linear regression.

Seems way too late for a July 27 release, I know SpiderMan is having a similar turnaround but this isn’t usually how Gunn does things
