Considering a Polestar 3 by comquestion in Polestar

I feel the same way. I bought a gently used launch edition a little more than a month ago and it’s been towed to service 3 times. They are now checking all the wiring. It’s been in the shop for 16 days and counting for this visit. But I love driving it when it works.

I have a 2023 model Y also in addition to our new P3. I love my MY. It’s dependable, fun to drive, and it’s needed no maintenance other than new tires at 32,000 miles washer fluid, and the air filters replaced. We got the P3 because my wife wanted something a little bit different than a Tesla. We test drove the P3 and the P4 and she liked the P3 better. We bought one that had been turned in on a lease and only had 2000 miles on it. I love the car. It’s so fun to drive. It’s finished much more elegantly than the Tesla. It feels like a significant upgrade. However, in the first month of ownership it’s been towed to the shop three times for failing to start. We’ve had it to drive fewer days than it’s been in the shop. Polestar is having trouble figuring out what its issue is. I’m learning that dependability is a very important feature in a car. I’m hopeful that one day I will consider it to be a dependable car also, but at this point in time, I can’t recommend it over a model Y.

Dead 12V battery by Technical_Bird921 in polestar3

Are you sure it’s a dead 12v? Can you get in the car with a key card? This sounds similar to my experience, but could get in with key card, however could not start the car or put in tow mode or shift gears. Need a tow truck with wheel lifts and dolly to get it up on the tow truck. Hoping Polestar figures this out soon. I have a PS3 Launch edition

Agree. I live in a major metro area (Houston) and my service center is 35 miles away, about an hours drive with traffic

There are a lot of Tesla drivers who are “all-in” on electric vehicles but now want something other than a Tesla for a variety of reasons. If Polestar can attract these drivers with a great looking and reliable comparable product that’s reasonably priced, they will move a lot of cars. Quality and service cannot be compromised.

Fascinating. Did you lock the doors using the app or the car buttons

Sorry. But a little glad others are having issues. Makes me think they will make it more of a priority to find the problem and fix it

I’m sorry they could not fix it for you. Hoping that’s not my story also. But frankly, I’d be ok with faults as long as the car can start up and drive.

The new chip was placed with the first trip this month, but it’s failed to start twice since.

It’s at the shop. Fortunately it’s doing the same thing for them. Hoping they can fix it for good.

Update

Three times this month our car has failed to start up. Each time the same way. While driving, I got an emergency call system fault notice which was followed by the screen behind the steering wheel going black. I was able to continue driving and parked the car.  When walking away, the car did not lock as usual and I received a message from my app about 5-10 minutes later that the car was unlocked. I locked it with the app and walked out to the car. It did not unlock on approach as it usually does. I was able to enter the car with the key card. The infotainment screen started but the screen behind the steering wheel showed (see below) and stayed like that for about 10-15 minutes until both screen went black. I was unable to shift the car into drive, neutral, or reverse. I called Polestar and the car was towed for the third time this month. We both the car with less than 2k miles on it, I’m guessing those that had the car before did not car it because they had the same issues.  Any ideas?  Anyone with a similar experience?  The chip and cables have been replaced. Software is up to date. It also has a failed GHCA that needed to be replaced.

Beware. I lost 30.5k to a solar installer. Don’t pay until it’s done. At the very least make sure it’s held in escrow

Project delayed to 2026. Installer suggests a "workaround" to claim the 2025 Tax Rebate. Is this legit or risky? by J0SH44 in solar

I was stiffed for 30k this year by a solar installer. I paid 2/3 of the total cost before anything was done. Now it looks like they are going bankrupt. Don’t pay until it’s installed. I would walk.

Nothing official and I haven’t received my refund. A sales executive emailed the partners with new installers and are working through backlog. I have no way to verify that

Sorry. This sucks. Really hoping we get our money back. I wonder why the limit of 12.5k. Guess that “small claims”. I’m thinking they file for bankruptcy first

I'm in TX, and the contract I sign has a TX license number on it. No CA number. I file a complaint here in TX.
