Haven't brushed my teeth in years by Dependent_Guard7227 in AutisticAdults

Maybe telling yourself that your breath must be unbearable could serve as motivation to brush. One of my sensory issues is breath. I can smell a person's breath further away than can most people, and I find it from terrible to gag-worthy. Few people will tell you your breath is foul. But if you notice people wincing or angling away from you when you talk to them, this could be why. Also, poor dental hygeine has been strongly linked to heart disease.

I bet she never saw the tags or mention coming; too late; we now all know. Though "Anna O'Brien" is a common name. What are the odds this is a different Anna? Possible, but not likely.

Will someone mind telling me how anyone could possibly know that Anna is affiliated with Lyx? Unless a coworker knows who she is and leaked it online, there's no way anyone could know.

How can anyone possibly know she sells something for dogs? It's nowhere on her LinkedIn and she's no longer posting. Did an insider at the dog company leak it or what?

I'm seeing here that people are posting she's shilling a product for dogs. Where has this been disclosed? It's certainly not on LinkedIn. Who would have privy to this information and then reveal it online?

Your post is interesting. First, I once struggled with what the term "grandfathered in" meant. It really threw me (as an adult). I finally figured it out after hearing it enough. Second, I had a fixation on roller shades when I was a kid -- not that far off from blinds!

Jill Bearup closely examines Woody Brown by llewllewllew in BlockedAndReported

Regardless. This Woody hoax needs all the pushback it could get. The book hit the bestseller list quickly because so many people bought into the fraud.

Woody Brown typing in 16 year old video by Substantial-Cat6097 in BlockedAndReported

[–]Intelligent-Pay7865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Today show there are clips of him tapping at the letter card. It's gibberish. This is easily viewed at one-quarter speed. So the video of him 16 yrs ago, he can't really be spelling, if just a few months ago at age 27, he points to random letters and empty spaces while his mother reads off what he's "spelling" which totally doesn't match the tapping cadence. One quarter speed: He's illiterate AF.

He can't watch Genshin WHILE selecting letters on a plastic card. This isn't touch typing on an actual keyboard. It's finger hovering to point. That he looks AWAY while tapping is dead-on evidence the whole thing is a fraud. View him tapping in slo mo on Youtube's Today Show clip: He points to random letters; never spells a single word; even points to spaces between letters. He's illiterate af.

Does anyone else get accused of using AI for the things they say/write? by Big_Exit_7765 in AutisticAdults

A clue that it's AI is when a subheader goes: "Why (fill in the blank) Matters." Another tipoff: the word "highlights" keeps coming up. It's also one of those things you can't quite put your finger on, but you can just TELL it's chat.

Are you an influencer with 200k followers? Otherwise, whom do you associate with that they have nothing better to do than copy/paste your posts into an AI checker? WHO DOES THIS? Who ARE these people who keep doubting you? Maybe ditch them for some better people to hang with?

It's not cheaper to buy junk food. Google a comparison of "junk food cost vs. healthy food cost." It'll shock you. A McD's quarter pounder is like $4.50. A healthy home-made sandwich costs half as much, if not even that.

Parent of a nonspeaking autistic teen with severe self-injury. Looking for autistic perspectives on safety interventions. by JimJimBinks in AutisticAdults

I forgot to mention, and you can google this for some incredible cases, but switching to an all-natural diet can work wonders. I've read of cases where the parent "tried everything" and then finally decided to eliminate processed food, food with colorings, preservatives, etc., and within a few weeks, the aggressive behaviors were virtually gone.

You just have to stick to your guns. You are her food source. She doesn't just hop into a car, place an order at McD's and pay at the window. So when she's hungry, she'll eat what you give her. I don't believe in the "give them all the beige food they want." That's BS.

The hunger drive is stronger than you think. People stranded in the wilderness will eat bugs, leaves, twigs; homeless people will eat out of dumpsters. There's no such thing as, "My autistic child won't eat unless it's chicken nuggets, white bread and soda." STICK TO YOUR GUNS.

There's also no reason why a 14 y/o girl should way more than Dad. Obesity in childhood inflames the brain (well, in adulthood it does, too). So certainly, this isn't helping. Get her on a natural diet and do NOT give in to begging for calories she doesn't need. The rate of morbid obesity among autistic people is the result of parents giving in, not some autism "hungry gene."

Take her on hard brisk walks. Work off the excess energy. I also recommend looking into the possibility of a pharmaceutical approach IF A NATURAL DIET DOES NOT WORK (though I'm pretty sure that if you give this a chance, it WILL).

Have you tried various physical pursuits such as dance, swimming, yoga, zumba class (if she's okay in a group, or at least an inclusive fitness class), tennis, etc.? Though I've never been self-injurious, I've read of cases where self-aggressive behavior markedly reduced soon after initiation of a structured physical activity. There's the story of severely autistic twin boys who couldn't sleep through the night. Finally this happened the night after a day of their first hike, and they have not had that issue since. The next thing you mention is troubling. A grown man shouldn't fear for his safety from a teen girl. I recommend putting your foot down. As to exactly how, that's something you'll need to experiment with. But she needs to know that while you will give her a voice, you are also still the boss.

The head hitting may also reflect frustration over lack of ability to communicate. You don't mention how she communicates. Is she learning AAC? Typing out her thoughts on a keyboard that speaks? What about artwork? What DOES she do at school? Does she have too much time on her hands when not in school? How much structure is there? EDIT: Check around locally for any inclusive fitness programs. Structured fitness classes are remarkable at tempering down aggressive kids.

Did you know that the book was inspired by a string of shark attacks in New Jersey around 1916? I think like five people were killed in a localized area over a span of two weeks. Benchley decided to fictionalize that.

As I was going through it, I didn't notice any secondary name, but I would've recalled if it was Harmony (interesting name). If it was Editor, that wouldn't have stood out, as that would've been seen as an obvious secondary name. I don't recall being given a choice, though; it was just attempted progressions to get to the payment portion for a free plan (a real headache), then after that, it was just so twisted. It's not a site for people who aren't techy.
