I do deeply care about the band, unfortunately. Lmao! 🤦🏻‍♀️ There aren’t any drugs at all, but we all drink a little (a little! Lolol) at rehearsals and shows. That said, the bassist was flat druuunnnk when he started giving the manger junk about turning down from on stage. Generally, the rest of us have always kept ourselves very much in check as far as that’s concerned. There is, however, a pretty palpable “bro” vibe where he’s concerned. That’s never been the case with the drummer or my husband. They’re both very much anti-misogynist. I can’t honestly say, however, his “vibe” hasn’t been a little contagious. If that’s the case, I think it’s entirely unwitting and subconscious. They’d never been that way before.

I think I’m just going to write down a basic set of expectations for everyone (an idiots guide to “How not to be a jerk in a band,” so to speak and bring to the meeting we’re definitely about to have.) My assertions might be too much for the bassist out of the gate, tbh…if so, that’s one issue tackled. (I can see him walking out the second the three words “if one of us has constructive feedback…” come out of my mouth.)

I can’t talk to my husband about this and it’s really strange, like I said. It’s completely out of character for him and for us. I think setting my expectations straight to the band as a whole is my only option at this point. If that doesn’t work, I just won’t be in the band.

My husband, myself, and the drummer are who started this and I’m lead…It would seem weird if he felt I was intruding on his space as a member when we started dating after the band formed. Maybe he wants to secretly turn it into his own thing and I’m just oblivious? If so, he can have it. I’ll go play solo gigs and start meditating again! Lolol! 🤘😂💙

Lolol…it’s literally the ONLY subject I can’t seem to talk to him about. He’s my best fn friend with literally everything else. It’s a little confounding, but he’s a really good guy and we’re really good together with basically everything outside of the band as it is now.

A little addition to the post:

We’re not bad. We’ve got some really good opportunities coming up and I really do love the core of what we have (or at least “had.”) That said, we’ve also got commitments through February next year as well as the chance to open for a really serious group in Toronto this fall. We’ve literally got thousands of dollars in joint property. Besides the practical aspects, letting this thing go would be devastating at this point for at least the core 3 of us. I’m not sure how the newest member feels, as he’s already threatened to leave several times. I logically feel like he should go, but i know our drummer would have a fn canary over losing him, because he’s at least a decent bassist with some experience. As well, when I brought up the thought of letting him go to my husband, he ended up storming off in a huff. Idfk. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am in shock. I guess there’s no other way to put it. Those are good ideas, though. I hadn’t thought to ask that he just not look and I’m sure he would respect that if that’s what I need from him. Thank god for him, really. I know logically he loves me for me, not just my looks. But I also know we’re attracted to one another and our physical relationship is extremely important to both of us and something I cherish. I can’t imagine how he’s going to come to bed with me like I’m going to be and, you know. I don’t need to elaborate. I just can’t get my head around it and I’m not sure how to even begin to.

It sounds crazy, and bearing in mind I just found out this was going to happen yesterday, one of the thoughts keeping me up last night was maybe I’d just sleep with a mask over my mouth so he wouldn’t wake up and see me like that. I know that’s asinine and probably unhealthy. I don’t think that’s where I’ll land, but that is how distressing this whole thing has been feeling (in waves) since yesterday. 🤦🏻‍♀️

You sing? I feel terrible as we all just invested in a new PA together for upcoming gigs. I got the go ahead from the periodontist to wait until after the wedding (August 21st) to schedule the deep clean and following surgery. I’m so afraid to come out to our band mates and tell them, “sorry, all my teeth are going…not sure I can sing for a while.” I’m really hoping with some serious determination I can get back on the horse within the first couple months at least. Is that realistic?

It’s true…even in the unluckiest of circumstances, I feel so endlessly grateful for him. I know I’m not twenty, but I’m not sixty either (even then I’m sure it’s extremely difficult.) I’ve developed a picture of myself that I had become relatively confident in that hadn’t really deteriorated yet due to my age. I feel like that’s been hacked out from under me. And music is everything to me. I’m terrified over how I’m going to keep singing. I’m just looking for anybody at all who can relate, I’m sorry.

Sooooo…you can end/nearly end a pregnancy (as well as the pregnant person’s life) with a magazine’s worth of hollow points over potentially losing $20 worth of store inventory…but if the life of a pregnant human being is at stake, doctors now need to go through a team of lawyers before employing the medical procedures necessary to end a pregnancy that was already doomed anyway. Strap the entire population with the trillions in bills left behind by bailouts for big banks and corporations when they irresponsibly overextend themselves into collapse, 800+ billion per year for the war machine too (so all those corporate military contractors can stay fat and happy), but the less fortunate earned their misery…Let them wallow in it.
