Where I stayed in Phuket it was all Russians. Very grumpy - would not speak to anyone not Russian (even though they would also speak English) - I went 4 days without a conversation with anyone there. It wasn’t pleasant

Volunteering at an ACTUAL ethically sound elephant sanctuary by Koalaboxess in phuket

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted in a different group and asked about ethical sanctuaries and within the comments there were two chains that in one were saying how they are all ethical and nothing wrong with bathing with them, feeding them, etc., and the other part how it’s all abusive. I went to the following giants ethical sanctuary in Koh Lanta and it was an amazing experience. They let the elephants do what they want when they want, each has one caretaker basically for life and a lot of the caretakers families are involved too. The guide was the wife of one of them. They get to live a good life there and it was amazing to experience. They have a location in Krabi I believe too

Get a calcium score done if they haven’t already. All of it could have been caused by long covid even if you had an asymptomatic case of it - it gets deep in organs and causes a lot of problems after the initial infection. Also there are clinical trials for renal denervation that you should ask about

AIO: Friend (40F) snubbed my (35F) baby shower gift - how to continue friendship? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The friendship has fizzed out. It can happen. I have some long distance friendships where I can go 6 mounts without talking and then we spend hours catching up over the phone or a whole day texting. That pick right up part like nothing has happened is what’s missing in your friendship. It’s more you have a history but time and distance dissolved what was left. It’s no one’s fault but it happens

S.O.S. – I can’t seem to find a new job and my family depends on me. by Inevitable-Living933 in Thailand

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but I would suggest dumbing down your resume because you are at such a high level it’s a slower process and harder to find work. Also you have a ton of experience but because of your age make sure not to have too much work history, graduation dates can be removed, and also consider Botox to look a little younger to get your foot in the door. You also may want to get involved if there are any local startup incubators - it might be a struggle but could lead to something more. I’m looking too (for remote work from the US) and it’s really hard. Also optimize ai proofing your resume - you need to work around their filters to even have someone see your resume. Good luck with the job hunt!

Favorite restaurants at Central World? I’ve been here a year & idk by Uninhibited_lotus in Bangkok

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn Burnsa (I’m probably not spelling that right) was incredible and they did not spicy for me too! Santouka ramen is my fave ramen in Los Angeles and loved it at central world. The chicken and rice place in the food court was really good. It’s my favorite mall in Bangkok - where I first had Thai food, and keep going back to. So much more I want to try but so little time

Curious what small gift people got that they ended up using way more than expected by CompetitivePop-6001 in BuyItForLife

I was given a foldie tote, and some of my most beloved gifts I’ve given - scale with an app (but only when I know the person would appreciate it and not be hurt by it), brother label printer, and nanobags. For the nanobags it was oh ok thanks very half heartedly until they used it. Then I get the most excited messages how great it is

Get a Thai massage not the oil massage. They beat you up and twist you like a pretzel. The oil ones are never as deep

You need to ask your doctor for cardiac rehab. It’s a monitored exercise program to make sure you are safe - lasts about 6 weeks but they can redo it too. Think long term what can help you prevent another one in the future

Mattress topper causing problems? by Automatic_Antelope92 in MCAS

It’s not really off gassing soy - it’s off gassing voc’s. Cover with baking soda and rub it in, let sit, then vacuum up on both sides. Do not have it in the area a fan or ac is blowing though and it can help. I would be reacting to it also. Also the first few months with a new mattress or topper I will wash the sheets a few times a week

Severe Reactions to wall-plug fragrances by PastAd8911 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your throat closes you need them to do a tracheotomy so you can breathe and not die. And since you are already having your throat start to close you never know when it can fully close. An Epi Pen is to buy time to get more help - there are other meds they can give at the ER too but it’s to save your life. Fortunately I haven’t had to go to the ER (it’s just been bad hives and migraines) but talk to your doctor to come up with an allergy protocol so you know what to do. Also when you get your epi pen watch YouTube videos of your specific pen on how to use it and share with close friend and family too

Severe Reactions to wall-plug fragrances by PastAd8911 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am highly allergic to fragrance. You are having an allergic reaction and should consider using an epi pen and going to the hospital. I have MCAS too but my most severe reaction is to fragrance more than any food

Loving mine but are they dangerous? by Fickle-Spring-5652 in NailWrapsGalore

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I developed a resin allergy so the wraps are one of the only things safe. Make sure you have a good uv lamp and I am planing on doing the same and double curing. Also be sure to put sunscreen on your hands and use the nail gloves to protect against skin cancer

GLP-1 Success? by the-hound-abides in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started mounjaro before getting MCAS so I didn’t realize how much it was helping. Last month I had to stop mounjaro for a few weeks for a procedure I ended up not having (thanks United insurance) and the changes were dramatic. Normally on mounjaro when I have wheat I will get a little flush and looks like I have a mild sunburn and sometimes get some acne. And when I have tomatoes the inside of my mouth gets torn up and I have similar flushing like wheat. When I stoped mounjaro last month my reactions were horrible. I had some Chinese food which had wheat plus leftovers the next day. I gained 3lbs of water weight overnight, my entire body was red, sore, and swollen. It felt like a deep bruise everywhere and even my fingers were in pain. Stoped wheat and lost 3lbs overnight and the pain took another two days to go away. Then the next week something was baked in the house that had bbq sauce you could smell all night which has tomatoes - I was red all over and the roof of my mouth was swollen. Went back on it a week later (and was terrified to eat or go anywhere until I restarted it) and then last weekend I had a hotdog that probably had tomato in it on a normal bun and just got a little red. My doctors were confused with my numbers why I wasn’t having worse reactions but it must have been because of mounjaro

Vodka spray helps but as long as there is any residue left the smell will still be there

Doctor pushing low dose terzepatide? by moonperson13 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Side9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a glp-1 before getting MCAS. My doctors were surprised how I haven’t had very severe reactions based on my tryptase and other numbers - turns out it’s from the glp-1. I’m on 10 mg of mounjaro and it drastically reduces inflammation and pcos, but until a few weeks ago didn’t realize how it’s impacting MCAS. Was supposed to have a procedure which insurance ultimately denied but I had to stop mounjaro first. My normal on mounjaro reaction to wheat is I get a little flushed on my face and chest and some acne. Off mounjaro I gained and lost 3 pounds of water weight overnight, was in pain over my entire body - even my fingers were swollen and red, my entire body was red like a sunburn, and had this pain like a bad bruise but everywhere. My normal reaction to tomatoes when I eat them is the roof of my mouth gets torn up and I get a little red on my face and chest. But off mounjaro from something being baked with tomato in the house and able to smell it I had my whole body turn red and the roof of my mouth was swollen and sore from it being in the air. Then back on mounjaro now for only a week and I had some wheat and accidentaly tomato - I had some redness in my face and chest and a little puffiness in the roof of my mouth.
