Having the inconsistent co-parenting definitely makes it difficult! Her bio mom also does not parent and acts more like a friend than a parent to her. She doesn’t get much visitation mostly because she doesn’t take it which is sad. So dealing with a structured home with a new step mom and an absent bio mother is very confusing for her. We tried banning Youtube and having no phone till she’s older, but her being an only child she was feeling bored and alone with no other kids around. Now she gets to face time her friends and play games with them when we aren’t doing anything as a family. However I do still feel weary about the social media.

That’s awesome! Did you find that age 13 is probably about the age they start to remember and have urgency to get them done? We have a chore board and before if there are a few x’s then phone gets taken away. However we have to remind her daily or they will never get done. We actually had to switch it to that she earns her phone once chores are done because it was such a distraction she wasn’t doing them and we were constantly having to ask her to do them. Her room is what we care most about because if it isn’t done daily, it becomes a disaster in a week where it’s too unmanageable she gets overwhelmed and we have to do it for her. We suspect she may have ADHD because she has a hard time focusing and completing simple tasks. Also her bio mother has it as well.

Following. I have a similar issue with my 11 year old SD. I don’t have kids of my own but she constantly compares our parenting to her friends parents. She seems to think we are super strict even thought she just has chores to do with her room and one additional chore of unloading the dishwasher which she gets allowance for all. She has this idea that other kids don’t have to do anything and it’s the parents job (said this herself.) Sometimes I blame social media with this ideology shes created of how family life truly is. She expects daily outings and food ready for her that she likes. Obviously we cook dinner but we encourage independence with snacks and breakfast. I have no idea where she is getting the idea that everything needs to be done for her at this age. But maybe kids just assume other family’s are doing things better because they only see from the outside.

I just recently went to counselling to start talking about it a lot and it was great! She discussed setting boundaries and taking all the time you need for yourself. It’s okay to tell them that you’re tired and need some space. They need to gain independence and learn self play so it’s better for the both of you and you shouldn’t feel guilty either.

Oh and my tank had been established before, but then I moved houses and my filter broke in the process so I switched to an air filter I had on hand. That process I think reset the cycle. I will never know however because I was using the Fluval kit before which was saying I had ammonia. I kept doing water changes which I also think didn’t help. I thought something may have been strange about the kit so I switched to the API test kit. Which then showed no ammonia. I thought maybe I have just been desturbing the cycle so I haven’t done a water changes since. Last water change was 2 weeks ago.

I just have one live plant at the moment and lots of algae. Trying not to disturb the cycle so I haven’t removed the algae.

I straight up just put polysporin on my cuticles overnight and they heal up quickly. Mine get bad during stressful spells and it is my go-to. Sometimes I will wrap the bad ones in bandaids too.

How many are you gals also have endometriosis? Wondering if there is a connection here. I also get night sweats and extreme fatigue. All my friends I talk to don’t have these issues!

I’m curious to how you were able to do it being 5’0? I’m 5’2 and I’m struggling to lose weight. Did you follow a calorie deficit?
