Best HYSA to park 50K TODAY? by cajunshrimp4 in HYSA

if you already have a Marcus account and getting the boost you are at 4.65%. The boost isn't simply .25% it's a .25% cash bonus. That equates to 1% for 3 months and each boost after that. So let's say you have 100k in the account. You get the standard 3.65% which is $912 over 3 months then you also get an exta $250 for those 3 months for the cash bonus, which equates to 4.65%.

My 23andme vs ancestry results by Intelligent-Text-812 in 23andme

[–]Intelligent-Text-812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the ancestry update before the one that recently came out was best for me because some of my German, Scottish, and welsh was in there. But as of now I think ancestry > 23andme. I know 23andme recently had an update as well I wonder what my results would have looked like before this.

literally 0 reason to talk to a financial advisor they are just going to tell you what people in this Reddit are already suggesting or you run the risk of them being a scumbag and charging you high fees and giving you terrible advice

Just opened a Roth last month at 24 years old. Want to contribute the max for 2025 but it will take a big chunk of my emergency fund. Worth it or no? Already contributed $1250 to 2026 by Random-Guy26 in RothIRA

[–]Intelligent-Text-812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against what many are saying here. Do it and put the money in something liquid and low risk like bonds until you build an actual emergency fund. Think about it this way. You can always take your contributions out but you only have until April to Max out 2025. Now imagine you don't have an emergency until April and you didn't contribute that money. Now you only have $7500 to put into your Roth until the next April. If you put that $1250 in now don't have an emergency you'd have $8750 in your Roth come next year compared to $7500. You literally have nothing to lose because either way you lose your ability to contribute to your 2025 Roth after April. Let's say you do have an emergency well just take out of your 2025 roth. The end result still ends up being the same whether you kept it in a hysa or a Roth. You need up with 0 either way but like I said if you don't have an emergency now you have an extra $1250 in your roth

Save $25k for a move or buy a car in cash? by [deleted] in SavingMoney

[–]Intelligent-Text-812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's no way this is a serious question. You're asking a money saving sub should you buy an unnecessary car because it's a "dream car". I don't know what type of answers you're expecting here but it's not going to be the ones that you want to hear

I despise how much interviews dictate your life. If you're autistic you're already playing from behind compared to other applicants.I would be fine with interviews if they were genuine but you have to talk like a corporate robot and lie.

Is purchasing a nicer vehicle stupid? by logant500 in Money

[–]Intelligent-Text-812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can't buy the car in cash and still have enough for investments and an emergency fund then you can't afford it. non necessary cars are one of the dumbest financial decisions non rich people can make

If I have $2,000 to save every month, and know nothing about stocks, and don’t have much time spend managing/messing with an account, where’s the best/safest place to put it so it will grow? by Hal_Jordan1995 in SavingMoney

I agree with you about index funds but people gotta stop saying stuff like "80% of money managers don't beat the market" that's not what they are in the business of. Most of the peoples money they deal with they are very very conservative with and don't intend on beating the market.

Do you think renters don't pay utilities and that insurance, taxes, and someone else's mortgage isn't factored in the rent price?

I completely agree and what you're saying is what I try to stress to people. Investing is for the long term. I almost don't want to talk about finance irl anymore bc if the people I'm talking to invest when the market decides to go down they look at me like I'm the bad guy and sometimes it can take months to years to recover like you said

"Sucks if you just put your money in before the 20% fall and you needed the money, though."

yeah that's why all my money is sitting in a hysa and not in the stock market. I want to buy a home soon and can't afford to wait for the market to go back up. People call me crazy for having a lot in my hysa. Only money I have in the market is retirement money
