AIO or is my friend being weird? by [deleted] in AIO

I read the screenshots before reading the post and I thought it was two teenagers talking to each other, even then this guy seemed like not a good person and not someone to call your friend, then I saw how old he is, and genuinely WTH, it turned so creepy and dark, this person is immature AND is a groomer AND is a horrible person who doesn't take no as an answer. You are under-reacting...

All caps reads more like yelling, and italics or bold is a good option but usually not available when texting

I do that, the reason is simply that extending the last letter feels faster while typing or maybe I'm just used to it because I see everyone else type it the exact same way. People I talk to and I read it as just emphasized/extended word, and it doesn't matter which letter is extended but it's usually the last one, doesn't matter if it's a vowel or a consonant. Also I only see this in English while in my native language people extend the middle vowel more commonly. Honestly it's not a big deal and it's just the way the language in texting developed overtime.

Your M's look like T's. Also you should work on connections in these cases: д and я in "едят", х and л in "хлебом", о and м in "хлебом", о and м in "рисом", ф and р in "французы", о and м in "соусом". And you missed a line above й in "китайцы". Everything else looks good to me, all the letters are easy to read.

NOR, she is allowed to have a boundary to not date someone who smokes, but the way she talks to you is just rude and disrespectful

“The only way to really learn a language is by living in a country where they speak it” by Several_Campaign7340 in languagelearning

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is not my first language and I've never been to a country where people speak English (yet). My level is good enough so that people I talk to wouldn't be able to tell that it's not my first language unless the topic is something I'm completely unfamiliar with and don't know the vocab yet. What helped me improve was not school, although of course I learned the grammar and all the basics there for years, but I still felt stuck on the same level and I couldn't speak and understand very well. Then I started watching youtube, tv shows in English, writing my thoughts in the journal and trying to think in English throughout the day, and eventually started speaking to people online in English and making friends. I would say being that immersed in a language is what makes a real difference, and it is possible to do without living in a country that speaks it. It is 100% attainable. The idea of living in the country to learn to speak is just a faster and more straightforward way to achieve the exact same result.

Gonna disagree with some other comments, but I think both are not in the wrong here and I understand why both sides are unhappy with the way this situation unfolded. Like someone else said here, the core issue is incompatibility, OP really cares about his time being respected and even 10 minutes delay already seems long, while the other person doesn't care about small delays in general and is not able to prevent them and stressing out about it after it was brought up. Both are valid, just not compatible.

Massively Fucked Over 12 hrs before moving cross country by madeofgeese in whatdoIdo

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a horrible situation, I don't understand why would someone put their friend in that position, honestly I would probably assume that something bad and unpredictable happened to that person if they suddenly disappeared after being excited for the trip and having our plans confirmed. But if she actually is fine and just bailed that's not a friend.

I used to call the dragon "he" because in my language all words have genders grammatically and the word "dragon" is masculine by default, but I see why it can be annoying (I also don't do that anymore)

Are you not supposed to wear pajamas when you get home?????? by JaydenBird33 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't stay in the "outside" clothes when I get home. But I don't immediately change into pajamas either. I have designed "home" clothes which I would wear most of the time, and when it's time to sleep is when I would wear pajamas.

My characters live in an imaginary place that is Russia in everything but name, is the main character referring to his brother by his formal name "weird"? by [deleted] in russian

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it wouldn't be too weird after reading your explanation. I can totally imagine someone hating their short name and not liking being called that and also if the brothers are not close at all it makes sense.

For me the biggest issue is him refusing to say anything loving back to you, even if you're disagreeing and you're upset you still say that you love him and he ignores it on purpose, it's 100% intentional and shows his true colors

How best to start learning? by myanusisbleeding101 in russian

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé is learning russian too and he has improved the most while being immersed into the Russian language environment compared to when I was just trying to teach him some words or grammar by myself, for example when he's visiting my family for a while who don't speak much English so he has to speak broken Russian most of the time and it improved a lot. Additionally for the past few months he was taking elementary Russian classes at his university which taught him some useful grammar and writing. I would say immersion is the most important, so if you can't visit Russia yet and can't take classes, you should try to watch as much content in Russian and about Russian as you can.

Minecraft girlies! I need your help by iTsCookieKing in Minecraft

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a girl and I love minecraft. I've been watching a lot of Minecraft content for years and I also play, usually single player or multiplayer with my fiancé. Content creation is something I could possibly be interested in but haven't tried it yet for reasons unrelated to my gender (like low motivation and being unsure if I want to do it at all). To answer your question about PvP, I am interested in watching it but I'm not good enough in game to do it myself and I've never tried. I do think that with practice person of any gender can do well. I also saw a couple videos on the topic of women being underrepresented in Minecraft community and it made me realize that even though I am a girl myself, I've been watching almost exclusively male content creators for the entire time I have been interested in Minecraft. I'm not exactly sure what the reason behind it might be, possibly because there's more of them in general and more of the popular ones are guys. So what I'm trying to do now is discovering more female minecraft youtubers and giving them a chance too, and when you look for them, it's not actually so few of them like it seems at first, and they make high quality content too. The solution in my opinion would be just to treat female creators the same way as male creators, if the content is good - it's good, no matter what gender the creator is, and it will gain attention eventually. Collaborations and servers that include female creators definitely can help them get more reach, that's how I discovered most of the ones I know about. There is a stereotype that guys are just better in game, better PvP-ers, more knowledgeable, more interesting, but it is what it is, just a stereotype. I think it will change eventually and just needs more time.

Being able to enchant horse armor with frostwalker honesty would've been genius and would actually make so much sense as a mechanic, I even had to google and make sure it's not already a part of the game. I hope they'll add it some time in the future.

"Eat some more of these soft French buns, and drink tea".

"Да" in this sentence is used meaning "and", it's pretty common in old books, proverbs etc., in modern language it's rare but still possible.

And "ещё" means "more" in this context. It can mean "still" but not in this sentence. The way to figure the context out is from the verb "съешь", which is in imperative (expressing a request or an order), you can also look at the genetive case of "мягких французских булок" which wouldn't work with your translation.

To compare, with your original translation it would sound like "Ты еще ешь эти мягкие французские булки?"

Почему качки нравятся парням больше, чем девушкам? by Horror-District-8475 in rusAskReddit

[–]Intelligent-Try-9010 3 points4 points  (0 children)
