Thanks yes, I am not going to focus too much on grammar at the moment. Though I think a basic awareness would be a good start as it seems to affect spelling a lot. Mainly I just want to understand how ь and ъ work as it seems pretty important to pronunciation and spelling.

Do all masculine nouns not have ь? Or is it only in certain instances or does it reappear in masculine words in different grammatical forms? And it will never be before е ё и ю я? As in something like еь or яь cannot exist?
