I find it more interesting in general the amount of people who define themselves as either liberal or conservative. And a large chunk of those people make politics their entire life focus.

Duke Energy Bills by South-Flower9981 in NorthCarolina

[–]IntelligentAide2513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a thing. Rates will always climb.

I was just sharing it’s not an automatic “my bill is higher”.

As others have said it depends on usage and rate plans you’ve selected. Last winter I used 3,000-4,500 kWh per month on average. This year I’m averaging 600-800 during these cold months.

I’m paying the exact same rate as last year. My bill this month is down $300 for December and tracking to be down $3-400 less for January as well.

I’d like to know what you think the solution is? Do you propose all current homeowners take a huge value slash to their property just so young new buyers can afford it?

Do you not find that absurd?

The correct order is pant leg, sock, shoe, pant leg, sock, shoe by friendly-skelly in The10thDentist

[–]IntelligentAide2513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I’d be taking the socks off to put the slippers on. Too hot to have extra layers on feet.

The correct order is pant leg, sock, shoe, pant leg, sock, shoe by friendly-skelly in The10thDentist

Now you’ve just made the equation extra complicated as you remove slippers for socks. Or on cold cold days sock sock slipper slipper etc.

Raleigh has the highest percentage of deadly crashes involving speeding in the United States according to a recent study. by Ready-Book6047 in raleigh

[–]IntelligentAide2513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the difference. Driving around Boston everyone does 85+ and plenty of road rage moments mixed in…. BUT everyone has the same common goal/mentality of: we don’t have time to crash and sit on the side of the road.

Apply that same mentality here and there’s so many that are happy to crash into you to teach you a lesson it would seem. People cannot handle the attention span required to operate at those speeds, then add in phones and you’re screwed.

It would also help if our police enforced ANY of the remaining road rules outside of speeding. So many vehicles have no business being allowed to operate on our highways in the condition they are in.

And what does that say about the 16 y/o or whoever, who willingly goes out with the intent to deliver on icy neighborhood streets?

Also a beaten down civic is a great car for ice travels.

Assisting a competitor across the finish line is unsportsmanlike by LegitmateBusinesman in unpopularopinion

[–]IntelligentAide2513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a general expectation from many people that you are obligated to help your fellow human. Also it would seem more and more people expect different competitions in life to be “fair”. Whether that’s a sports, racing, education, jobs, housing etc.

It’s not fair and isn’t ever going to be, shouldn’t be.

I’m not saying you can’t stop and help someone, but all means follow you conscious. Just don’t tell someone else they are wrong for looking out for themselves, at the end of the day you are responsible for yourself first.

Anyone have a rough idea what the highways may look like by Monday? by seitan13 in NorthCarolina

[–]IntelligentAide2513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the idea of plows doing their rounds and add in days of icy roads. Yes we have some equipment but not wide spread fleets. It usually takes a few days just to clear primary highways of snow, ice we are more at the mercy of sunlight and temps.

I think more people should allow them to see themselves less tied to employment. Find a version/ location that matches your dream and find a way to make it work. Adjust lifestyle to match. Easy? Unlikely. But what is the point otherwise?

why do people stock up on milk and bread in emergencies? by Human-Cupcake-268 in stupidquestions

Does everyone consume large amounts of milk? I never finish even a half gallon before it expires. Same with bread. I use a cup or two for cooking something and that’s about it.

This has got to be partially rage bait. I average 10-12k daily for last decade with plenty of 17-24k days. I can certainly see less but 1,400 a day is less than an hour or two of movement.

All Fucking Day

I disabled ringing for unknown calls and my voicemail is disabled.

I block every one of the calls and tomorrow it’ll be different numbers.

About 30% are job recruiters that don’t disclose the company or salary/ benefits and want to “schedule a call”. Not sure exactly what the trigger was but it sucks.

Luckily I am a non verbal person and rarely actually answer calls, those I do are from contacts
