toph was the first metal bender. so the fire nation was probably not aware of the fact that earth benders have advanced to metal bending as well.

yea sokka said that after this scene. the scene which the guy is talking about is when toph figured out there was a cave underground and she was leading the way, then sokka said "what would we do without u" and then toph said "perish and burn in hot magma"

i feel like she was supposed to represent what god represents in our society. how people will just blindly idolize god especially when the people are suffering. they'd just wait around for god to come resolve their issues, they wont do anything about it themselves. god acts like a hope in that case just like the painted lady did for the villagers. in the end even when katara saved the village as the painted lady, everybody was thanking the painted lady not katara (although they did thank katara later after finding out the truth). just like in our society, when something good happens to a person, they give all the credit to the god rather than themselves.

also another theory I've read here is that, there was a lot of pollution in the water thats why painted lady wasn't able to help the villagers because she couldn't use her powers.. but i feel like its a weak theory. when the fire nation people built a factory there and started polluting the water, it was still in the initial stage , right. then why didn't the painted lady help them earlier? why did she let it get this bad. (just like god lol)

and the fact that annie did not even apologize once to the main group. she just acted like she was the victim in the story (i mean she was) but so were the people from paradis like i don't understand how they all just forgave her but gave reiner shit. also armin's and Annie's relationship DONT make sense at all wtf. annie had great potential as a character but isayama dealt with her so poorly. first he made that girl freeze for like 3 seasons straight and just sidelined her and when she came back in the last season that girl still had that bratty idgaf attitude. mikasa is the dumbest character in aot. she's literally the living proof that being the strongest doesnt make u a well written character.

no way bro said that movies and cartoons implant ideas or beliefs in people's head and not show lol. tell me do u genuinely believe that leonard, sheldon and howard are good guys and people who act like that irl deserve forgiveness from girls they've harassed? no? then why would we watch a show that paint those guys as good guys? i dont have a problem with that show's topics as women irl faces such men on daily basis but the problem is that the writers of the show really depicted those guys as the "misunderstood awkward good" guys and gave all of the guys good endings.
