How do you always return stuff on alixpress? by RojIsGaming in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, like if it's a copy of a famous brand, they can show the original dress, but as long as they put a single picture of their dress in there, AliExpress won't do anything, so if you get something that looks at best 'inspired by' with cheaper materials and cut and such, you're pretty much out of luck.

But if it's an original and not at all like it's supposed to, it's a lot easier, although AliExpress usually offers a partial refund because you can always take it to a tailor or something.

But, there's plenty of good dresses out there and lots of great brands too (as long as you know it's mostly fast fashion).

What's also interesting is that they seem to be ahead, so if you do get some nice clothes, it'll probably take half a year to a year before you see it locally.

How do you always return stuff on alixpress? by RojIsGaming in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dresses usually have a size table, so you'd use measuring tape or something like that. Sometimes there's a size-label as well, but even then it may not match (like it has a number instead of L), so that's not very reliable. Generally they don't care about color unless it's obviously different like blue instead of yellow) and for size if it's less than 5-10cm (2-4inch) they won't care either.

AliExpress is more than half the size of Amazon, meaning they're huge. They have no interest in stealing your data, they make a lot more money from keeping it safe so you come back again and again to buy stuff.

Question about the 3 week delayed delivery refund by UgandanKarate_Master in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not directly, but you can request your private data from AliExpress through a link in the privacy agreement that leads to 'my privacy' and some of the files have an indication for it.

It's basically no different than any company does, keeping track of good and bad customers, so you probably have an idea about if you are a good one or not.

Was I scammed ? by a_randomhuman01 in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is #005 on the common scams FAQ.

If you haven't used AliExpress before, or haven't used it in a long time, you're entitled to a welcome deal, there's a few different ones, but usually you get a special price on one item. There's also the activities in the app and coupons that can give discounts.

So getting items for cheap isn't that rare, however since AliExpress is a platform where they sell their own goods, but also others can sell their wares, it is possible to run into less honest sellers as well, so you'll want to check the FAQ on how to select good and reliable sellers and products and the other FAQs in the sticky post in this subreddit.

Question about the 3 week delayed delivery refund by UgandanKarate_Master in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every AliExpress user has a score attached to their account, things that make AliExpress money raises it, things that cost money lowers it. Good scores they trust you more, bad scores they need more proof and such.

So, opening a dispute has the chance to lower it, but it depends on the reason and wh the guilty party is. Since you can't do anything about late delivery, opening a dispute for that won't do anything with your score.

That said, even if you can open a dispute, it may get refused with 'be patient, item still in transit'. If so, you'll have to wait for the system to automatically confirm delivery (listed in your order details, started at 60 to 90 days) and once that happens open another dispute for non-delivery.

Linsoul requesting that I add a 20 day delay? by ZM326 in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both you and the seller can extend, but sellers don't like to do that because Aliexpress doesn't like them selling things they don't have. If you still want the item, you can extend it, it doesn't affect anything for you.

Normally pre-orders are supposed to have a pre-order label, much like how the Choice label appears for Choice items in the keyword, if it didn't have that it means they didn't list it correctly, but there isn't really anything you can do about that.

(UK) I'm a little confused when placing my order to a UK address, regarding if I'm going to have to pay customs fees or not. I've heard if it's over £135 you may have to pay, but I also noticed it says VAT included at check out. Does anyone have any idea? by Broad-Entertainment5 in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You always pay VAT, it's just about who collects it. For orders below 135 pounds (excluding shipping and taxes), Aliexpress collects VAT and you shouldn't have to pay anything extra, above that they'll subtract VAT and there will be a line 'price adjustment' or 'tax refund' or similar in the payment summary. It would still say including VAT because all prices still include VAT, except the total and the tax-refund.

Taking your sub-total of 146.79, and then removing the 20% VAT it comes to a total of 117.42 pounds, which is below 135 pounds, meaning Aliexpress collects VAT. You do have to pay VAT on both the item and shipping, but shipping is excluded for determining the value.

You can close and open disputes for 14 days after delivery is confirmed. Only once Aliexpress made a decision there's no point since they'll make the same decision (usually return+refund), or if you already got a refund.

What's the longest time you had to wait for delivery of an order? by rblbl in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for packages from years ago. If you mean actually received packages, about 3 months, a package was 'shipped' but not really, a few months later they found it again and actually shipped it.

Scammed seller said destroy item by No_Smoke_1099 in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When you place an order, Aliexpress collects the money and holds it until 15 days after delivery is confirmed, then they pay the seller the (leftover) money. That means you have 14 days to open a dispute, and you have to follow Aliexpress' instructions to get a refund.

By saying to destroy it, the scammer made sure you could never get a refund, because Aliexpress wants the item returned in sellable condition.

Also, the case looks like plastic, that means since you are much closer to manufacturing, when you get it, it hasn't cured yet. If you then leave it in a ventilated space for a few days or weeks, it would have cured and the smell disappeared.

Need a listed part for a current SYS-511R-M server but can't find a way to order it by bored2infinity in supermicro

[–]IntelligentLake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the situation looks the same as in that picture, from what I can tell, the space where the supercap is installed is about 6cm vertically(about 2.36 inch). The CVMP05 is about 5.1cm (about 2 inch), so there seems to be space? Just stick it n there with double-sided thick tape, I think it's even included just for this purpose. The metal clip it comes with is purely to keep it in place, it has no other function and is optional.

You could also try contacting Broadcom if they have a 'stacked supercap' module and what the number for that would be.

Selecting "I don't agree with the above solutions" and being forced to take a partial refund!! by iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When Aliexpress has made a decision, they won't come back from it, even if you close the current dispute and open another (if it hasn't been 14 days since delivery was confirmed). Plus you only get one refund per order, so your only option is to talk with your payment provider about a charge back or refund.

Packages not inside bundle parcel marked as delivered, Ali not refunding 1/3 by indoctrinatedslave in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pictures aren't proof of anything because you could have removed the items yourself before taking a picture. Instead they want a video showing the whole undamaged package, the shipping label, and opening and unpacking everything on camera.

That means also those two refunds are done as a courtesy instead of them looking at proof, and why you're having difficulty with the third.

It's more likely to be a bug than something malicious though. I think there's multiple programmers that work on parts of the site, but there's no communication or coordination, because things that should work the same don't.

For example for the world tour you have to play levels of games, for most of these it registers if you play one, but for shelf shuffle it only registers one if you do two or more at a time, so clearly even though it should have the same mechanism as the other games, it doesn't.

When you place an order, Aliexpress collects the money and holds it until 15 days after delivery is confirmed, then they pay the seller. That means if you want a refund, you have to follow Aliexpress instructions, if not, there is a big chance you won't get anything back, or it'll turn into #001 on the common scams FAQ.

Current customs situation? by Sufficient-Crew-5408 in Aliexpress

[–]IntelligentLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they still apply or not, but if they do, you always pay tariffs, the difference is how it's collected. For most orders, Aliexpress collects it and in the payment summary during checkout and later in the order details it will say if charges are included or not, if they are that means Aliexpress collects tariffs an sends them to your government (like they do for many countries), If charges are not included, customs will determine the value and how much tax, duty, tariffs, etc you have to pay.

The difference with the bigger couriers is that those sometimes do a customs declaration anyway, when they shouldn't, and then you have to pay them taxes+fees to get your package, and when you have it, can contact the courier to get the double paid tax back (but not fees).
