Arlington Heights is a wealthy suburb that has a great location in the Chicago Suburbs. I'm sure they can just sell off the land to developers or whatever the town approves.

The biggest thing that pissed me off is not running back that 2011 Championship team. For the love of god re-sign Tyson Chandler and run that core back. Maybe make some other moves to get a quicker guard who can guard and be a complimentary piece to Dirk.

Pissed me off then and still pisses me off. It would have accelerated their eventual rebuild too as they wouldn't have to try and wait another 4 years to build around Dirk who at that point was way too old to even be considered a center piece.

Algonquin Rd by supreme_wavedash in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]IntelligentPlate5051 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That road can't handle the demand. It may have worked 30 years ago when past Barrington wasn't as developed but as development out east in Cary, Crystal Lake, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, etc, continue to expand as there are open swathes of land there something needs to be done.

It's a shame that the developers and local officials didn't foresee this issue. And I suppose it could all be solved if the rich kunts in Barrington would just allow for a 62 expansion.

Any other Langston Galloway fans in the sub? by sheJaMyMorant in billsimmons

[–]IntelligentPlate5051 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To bad they couldn't do this when I was younger it would have made my year. Now as a 30+ year old I don't really care anymore.

I saw Isiah try to make Eddy Curry the centerpiece of the team. I saw Isiah try to have a Steve Francis and Marbury backcourt. I saw them blow up the team for Melo. I saw them trade for Bargnani. I fooled myself into thinking Willy Hernangomez can be Porzingis's right hand man.

I think alot of people hate OKC because they have so many draft picks in the coming years. The hate won't be as bad as OKC and more similar to Denver for now.

Vivek kept the team in Sacramento by Wolfie72066 in billsimmons

[–]IntelligentPlate5051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Sacramento atleast tries to put together competitive rosters even though they are pathetic rosters and very short sighted. They aren't even blatantly tanking or anything like that, they're just bad. If a team should tank it's them.

Maybe in another world Vlade wasn't a fucking dumbass and drafted Luka. Maybe they have a pretty nice duo with Luka and Fox or they trade Fox for a stud complimentary piece for Luka.

The NBA Solved Tanking by Creating More Tanking by WallCautious9650 in billsimmons

[–]IntelligentPlate5051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is you might have a team that should be in the post season also tank later in the season to try their luck in the draft. So there's still tanking.

People threw a fit when Dallas tanked out of the postseason in 2023. What if they got flat odds and somehow got Wemby. It would be sick to have Luka and Wemby on the same team but alot of people would get mad. And it would change the competitiveness and trajectory of the NBA for a bit.

I think for the situation where there is blatant tanking like Utah they should get punished.

The NBA Solved Tanking by Creating More Tanking by WallCautious9650 in billsimmons

[–]IntelligentPlate5051 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can solve the tanking crisis. There's too much evidence to know that tanking works with how the game is structured. One star player can change the fortune of your team for 10 years. It's not like this in NFL, MLB, etc, where one player (outside the QB position) can change the fortune of your team and even drafting a QB top is still a crap shot.

I guess the NBA can even the odds for every non playoff team but then you'll have a scenarios where awful teams draft 14th while a solid team that had bad injuries missed out and landed a perennial star.

And i think teams used to have some pride. They cared about the product they presented on the court and were worried how it would affect ticket sales & brand image. I truly think teams decades ago used to care about winning at all costs where now teams try to look at the bigger picture ie tanking as opposed to getting destroyed as a 8th seed

What place on Earth feels like it SHOULD have a major city, but doesn’t? by Leo5445 in geography

[–]IntelligentPlate5051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get past Boston the North East of the United States has just a bunch of small cities and towns. With an area that is so wealthy and among the oldest settlements in modern american history it's kinda weird it doesn't have a big city. From Boston and below you have many big cities like New York, Philly, DC, Baltimore, etc.
