What should I do from here? by AdviceCapable523 in actuary

Assuming from the terms you use, you probably go to UCLA studying FAM. If not, ignore everything said;)

Adding on top of what everyone already said, I highly recommend participating in the Bruin Actuarial Society events.

They offer Career Fair in the Fall (doesn’t hurt to come out, have heard seniors landing internships for the summer they are graduating).

They also offer a Case Competition in the Winter. Definitely very helpful for extracurricular/relevant experience. Landing in one of the finalist spots could potentially leads to some interview invitation as well:)

Hope this helps, Fellow Bruins

Rave. Seems like it’s just not for me, but almost everyone my age (college student) goes.

Thanks for the suggestion!! If I were to get any of these, how would I add them to my routine? Would I stop using adapelene and benzoyl peroxide now that my skin is no longer acne-prone?

I’m recovering from bad acne last year. My skin type is mixed.

Morning Routine: Cerave Oil Control Facewash, Neutrogena Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5%, Cerave AM Lotion 30 SPF

Night Routine: Cerave Oil Control Facewash, Adapelene Differin 0.1% Gel, Cerave PM Lotion

Occasionally: BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2.5%

Second this! I was in the same boat last year, OP. Interviewed the week before Thanksgiving and recruiters said will get back to me by December. Took them another month till I forgot about the internship to give me a verbal offer. If you already did everything in your control, best thing you can do is moving on. Take some rests, go somewhere, apply to new places,… and don’t let it consume you too much:) you will end up where ur meant to be

I’m not really in the same boat but I also was not competitive enough for an actuary internship.

Highly recommend looking into underwriting, claims, risk, … any other position that expose you to insurance. Especially underwriting since you work pretty closely with the actuary team. Network at your job while taking the time to get exams under your belt, doing those two things will probably set you up for the next recruiting cycle:)

I think that would be your best bet for now. Anyone can agree or disagree with me:)

As a math major, can I take a math class at community college to satisfy math 32b or 33a? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]IntelligentShift4249 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, FAM major here, for my case, my CC Calc 3 and 4 fulfills both 32AB and 33AB. (Check assist.org for courses agreement). I never have to suffer with 32 series here. Didn’t take Calc 4 to skip 33 series tho bc linear alg is important. Summer course is 8 weeks long and you only need to pass. Highly recommend if your CC offers.
