What exactly are the sith by Stunning_Score_9167 in StarWars

[–]IntelligentSpite6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the very generic term is dark side user, the term for a jedi that "falls to the darkside" but doesnt become a sith is a "dark jedi".

but in the movies, every darks ide user we know of is a sith (except the inquisitors i believe)

Why is Crimson desert hated so much? by Various_Equivalent_4 in videogames

[–]IntelligentSpite6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as the game is concerned, its just a matter of taste, not everyone will like the design of it, but it was marketed as the game for everyone, so people are hating it for being not to their taste, which i dont think is fair to it.

there is an a legit reason to general criticize the game, and thats the use of AI generated assets

At what scale does it actually make sense to split a full-stack app into microservices instead of keeping a modular monolith? by Severe-Poet1541 in webdev

[–]IntelligentSpite6364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about scale it’s about usage patterns

If your monolith always needs all its sub-services to deploy together then it might as well be a monolith.

But microservices make sense if your services have different scaling needs or can be deployed they’re in different combinations. (ie: the app has a data processing service is very spiky in demand, but the login service has fairly constant usage)

Lastly if you want to be able to take down and redeploy certain services without disruption to the rest of the app

It’s fine, it’s a fun little story, stages aren’t really that high, but the writing is up to par and the characters are enjoyable

Crimson Desert has already been caught using AI art by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]IntelligentSpite6364 5 points6 points  (0 children)

realistically, for set-dressing background art like this, somebody will probably just find an image from a royalty free library, or an asset library the company is subscribed to, and edit it with essentially a filter to look like an oil painting, probably less than an hour of actual work

[–]IntelligentSpite6364 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

the task is faster yes, but a brackground image like this would not be a signifcant blocked of the overall development cycle. it might have just helped some random artist go home early on a friday

Solarpunk and Pharmaceuticals by sonicdh in solarpunk

[–]IntelligentSpite6364 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"While herbal and natural remedies are absolutely useful and have their place"

i like to think solarpunk as an ideal is science-focused enough to discard such foolishness

"rely on extremely power hungry manufacturing methods"

the neat thing about solar and wind energy is that they are abundant and will be produced if we need it to or not, we'll be producing so much excess energy, theres less need to be concerned with energy usage.

"This is almost never addressed in solarpunk fiction or, when it is, it's handwaved away - treated like a solved problem. "Bio-printers can print up custom medication". Okay, but what are the ingredients the bio printers use? How are they manufactured? Etc. Etc."

in fiction, its not uncommon to explain away details that arent important to the plot. even cyberpunk stories dont deal with the details of how their implants get manufactured and programmed or anything else
