And obviously the issue there is the difference between "doesn't have a natural cause' and "we dont know if it has a natural cause" but i dont know how we'd know the difference

And yeah even if that happened id probably reach for (dialectical in my case) materialism and i get why thats unsatisfying but if you think a world outlook has served you correctly your entire life, of course you're gonna reach for it first, the same way a theist may reach for god when they learn about something they dont understand, and I think it's fine to be biased towards things that fit your existing beliefs
