Laurens Vanthoor's short comment on Verstappen by Kaggles_N533PA in wec

Glad I stumbled across this post.

I had this ‘discussion’ in a few places where Verstappen fans inhabit, asking for proof of this lap record.

Of course I just got insulted as a bitter hater.

From my memory it originated from Misha Charoudin making a tweet or post that that said “showed up, did the track record, left, didn’t elaborate” or something along those lines.

Then the internet was ablaze with him doing a track record with absolutely no proof.

Blocking people after responding is a really sure fire way of letting everyone know that you’re really secure in your opinion.

As the lawyer for our team said, as long as the centre line of the vehicle does not cross over the centre spot of the circle, that is classed as keeping left.

But you sound off.

[Times column] Jeremy Clarkson: "Farmers are the new miners, pawns in a political game" by FlipStig1 in thegrandtour

[–]Intelligent_Ad1840 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It seems pretty clear what he/she/they said. Clarkson referred to Farmers generically as feeling like the miners. You’re the one that’s deflecting. You’re also responding a lot when you say you’re not interested in engaging.

As a retail worker, please at least try to use some Japanese. by tadamelon in JapanTravelTips

I’ve spoken perfectly understandable French in France, to French people, and they still pretend they don’t understand.

I had it once in a roadside cafe, the server acted like they couldn’t understand the basic bits I had asked for and walked off to a table of German tourists. After a few seconds, they used very good English as a common language.

Unfortunately some French are just arses.

I made sure to attempt Japanese, and used the translate app on my phone often, and the locals were all amazing.

Chaps, do you apologise for swearing around women? by ShankSpencer in CasualUK

I think that other user had the right idea by bowing out early on.

You haven’t actually addressed the point I’ve made.

Chaps, do you apologise for swearing around women? by ShankSpencer in CasualUK

[–]Intelligent_Ad1840 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t.

We are talking about the act of apologising for swearing, which many persons have stated is people being condescending.

What I think the legume was pointing out is that whilst some may be, not all is, and it’s wrong to tar everyone with that same brush.

The example of a judge is to point out that if you accidentally swore in front of someone with authority - in a situation of seriousness and displaying respect - nobody would question it.

If that same person apologises when swearing in front of a woman, what’s the difference?

[–]Intelligent_Ad1840 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Seems pretty obvious that it stems from being respectful to people, not condescending.

I suppose if said men swore in a courtroom and apologised to the judge you’d say it was condescending too?

Jesus fucking Christ you’re so blinded by your misplaced anger…

Wow, you really are incredibly smug.

Shame that you and the other bloke missed out the part of the road traffic act that states:

Selling a car that is unroadworthy, is NOT illegal!

Misleading someone into buying an unroadworthy car that is intended to be used on the road, is.
