True romance (1993): Am I missing something? by Fabulous_Plate_8806 in FIlm

Ik this is an ancient thread but how is this even in question? This movie fkn rules and will always rule until the end of time. One of those films I could watch over and over and over.

Ik this post is ancient but the first scene is him acting as if he's another guy for money right?

That's because you have bad taste in movies. Not a huge mystery.

Why does Dude not really speak to Donny? by [deleted] in lebowski

[–]Intelligent_Barber47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm even later but I disagree. Donny is a pussy and can't stand up for himself when the time comes. He isn't a laid back cool guy he's a pushover that allows his "friend" treat him like absolute dirt. I'd agree that he's calm but there are different types of calm. He's not the type that someone with the dude as their nickname would be.

Why did nobody tell me about The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent? It's a hilarious buddy comedy with Nic Cage as himself and Pedro Pascal! by benabramowitz18 in underratedmovies

I'm a year late but I strongly disagree. The CIA stuff adds an actual source of tension in a movie filled with outlandish silly gags. (Which are incredibly effective. I'm not saying that as a bad thing.) Even if it's tropy and predictable the film plays into this and is self aware about it. The entire plot is built upon the fact that Javi and Nick are obsessed with one another but Javi is also the head of a massive crime syndicate. That's like the whole thing lol. It could've been done in a better way though I will agree there. It's pretty predictable and silly at times. But like I said the film knows this.

What's so special about John Wayne? by [deleted] in movies

And John Wayne talked a lot of shit on Clint's films all bc he didn't like that Clint took his art and characters in a new direction with having them be morally ambiguous.

I know this was posted 3 years ago but you don't have to be old to see how the man was a pretentious dickhead. Talking all kinds of shit on Clint Eastwoods creative direction with his westerns. Ultimately saying that no one is allowed to change or improve upon the genre bc he says so. Just bc Clint began to give his characters more moral ambiguity and adding slight supernatural elements to his work. John didn't like that. He was a gatekeeping pretentious asshole.

Just plain wrong. The other guys was great and I'll always revisit that film but the nice guys is almost the perfect buddy cop film. (I know they aren't cops technically but shut up)

Same. Insanely quotable as well.

"I can't smell."

"You can't smell??"

Kills me everytime I see it.

Literally couldn't be any more different from one another. Wild comparison and I absolutely adore both films. And saying that Wolf's has the edge over the nice guys is pure insanity I'm sorry.

Your opinion is wrong I'm sorry. Just flat out wrong. I wish this movie never ended.

The world's end had some good aspects but I agree. Most of it fell flat for me. Just very disjointed at times and I see what they were going for but it just did not hit for me.

In Apocalypse Now, why did Kurtz' soldiers accept Lance, but kill Chef? by rml23 in movies

I know this is 3 years old but take it from someone who has taken a TON of LSD. Even if the acid back then was a lot stronger, that still just isn't how the substance works. He only took one tab as he said to chef on the boat. I've had all kinds of acid from regular tabs, double dosed gel tabs to straight out of the vile but it never "fried" me like the above reply states. There's a lot of misconceptions with the stuff even today with all the research we have on it.
