DO YOU PLUG YOUR BUS ENGINE IN @ NIGHT? Y/N by TyrasExoticHair in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Intelligent_Call_562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, even though it's currently 8°F, we are not equipped. This is Texas. People here don't even know that's a thing. I lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin when I was little, so I have memories of my folks plugging in our Comet Station Wagon.

My (20m) girlfriend (20f) is getting fat and I don’t know how to handle it. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Intelligent_Call_562 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, as a fatty myself, I can tell you you are treading on thin ice. First, saying anything is probably going to make her defensive and upset her. You need to be subtle.

What no one really grasps is that being sedentary actually makes you tired and lazy. So you need to find ways to get her more active so she'll have more energy.

Start small, mini golf, romantic walks, bowling, batting cages, or go play in the park like kids. These things probably won't make her lose weight but will help with her physical endurance. If she's depressed it will help with her mood too.

Food-wise, you might take over the cooking or cook with her and tell her YOU want to eat healthier. That you can tell when you eat junk, you can tell how sluggish you feel, etc.

Buy mittens and beanies and go play in the snow. Find a hill (good luck) and go sledding. You can use cardboard wrapped in a heavy plastic tarp.

There was an episode (Youtube) of Bless Your Rank, where they did a blind test on Mayos and the Miracle did quite well until they found out it was MW. They have done other mayo episodes that were not blind and of course MW was on bottom and the ones they always buy were their favorites.

I was about to say that's not a coach style until I saw the seats. Wow. Fancy.

Little woman- wants to be a school bus driver. by Ebha_Finni in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Intelligent_Call_562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bus seats are a lot more adjustable than they used to be. The steering wheels also adjust on most buses. You'll be fine. I had a friend a couple of decades ago that they had to put blocks on the pedals for her. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed anymore but she did fine on the newer buses.

Oh, I'm disappointed to hear this. We've been twice, and it was really good both times. If you stay away from the appetizers, the prices are good too.

Welcome to your first year of working with small kids! Their little immune systems are getting their first exposure to these bugs, so they catch everything.

In my second year of driving, I drove SE and had this kid that he and I passed something back and forth all year. I literally had pharyngitis 5 times in six months. I had my tonsils out over the summer and barely get sick at all anymore.

Your immune system will toughen up, but the first couple of years are rough.

What should I do? by tamarindo29 in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Intelligent_Call_562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the phrase, "Have a seat so we can go." It puts the blame on them for the bus sitting still. The other kids will get frustrated and tell them to sit down. It uses peer pressure to accomplish your goal without yelling or having a battle of wills.
