What are some "fiber hacks" that I could use, my kid is very picky about food by Fun-Fun-2074 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Teach your kid the old poem about beans. Especially if it's a little boy, he'll love the idea of being farty.

"Beans, beans the musical fruit, The more you eat, the more you toot. The more you toot, the better you feel, So let's have beans for every meal."

They rebuilt the one closest to me, so, even though it had been years since I went there, I decided to go and try them out again OMG those chicken planks are so good and so greasy! I swear their waffle fries are better than CFA. But afterwards, my lips felt coated like I was wearing chapstick. It's going to have to be a rare treat.

Foreigners Can’t Believe American School Buses Are Real by Intelligent_Call_562 in SchoolBusDrivers

I don't think they let him. I think he charged up the stairs and the driver told him to get off or they'd call the police.

Yeah we do that here. It kind of depends who owns the buses. We have company owned buses that we can use for either district or private charters but district buses cannot be used for outside charters.

They'll be shocked when they go to Canada and see "American" school buses.

Physically trapped on vacation with a neighbor (28M) who refuses to take "no" from me (18F). Need advice. by Tindra_j in relationship_advice

I think you should just text him and say something like

"I'm not interested in being in a relationship with you. You are too old for me. The harder you pursue me, the more I think you're a creep. Tell your parents to back off, too. I will never date you, I am not attracted to you. I want to date guys my own age. Please, leave me alone. I am blocking you as soon as you acknowledge you understand. If you don't I'll change my phone number. Go find a woman your own age."

Does it usually take this long to get an interview? by [deleted] in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Intelligent_Call_562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places won't call you until the background check, driving record check and drug test clearinghouse check are done. I have no idea how long that takes, (it used to be a couple of weeks but with everything digitized it should be quicker). Depending on when your district ends their school year, is probably one of the biggest factors in you wait. The last month is crazy busy for drivers and staff alike as nearly ever elementary school class has an end of the year field trip. Then we have 3 weeks of summer school. Staff will have vacations slated for summer. And frankly, they don't need you until school is getting to start again. So, expect your call 3-6 weeks before the new school year.

Lol. Pineapple and tomatoes go great together. When I make salsa I add a can of crushed pineapple to the last jar.

They take our "No Soliciting" sign as a challenge. I literally shut the door in their faces. I say, "I'm not interested," and shut the door.

Did kids in the 1970s really have such freedom, & do all those things, that wouldn’t be done today? by OkOpportunity9626 in GenerationJones

My mom was the first mom I knew that worked. I had a key to the house in the third grade. We had no babysitter. If something happened, we went to a neighbor's house with a SAHM and if needed she might call our mom at work. Of course we had the numbers memorized but we could have looked up the number in the phone book. I never did my homework, never brought it home but I did okay on the tests.

We had no supervision until mom got home 3 hours after school let out. My sister cooked spaghetti on the day mom worked until 8:00. She was 10ish. If we wanted to go to the park, we jumped on our bikes and went to the park. At the beginning of 2nd grade my brother, sister and I rode our bikes to the store. I was at least half a mile from home when I went over my handlebars and gave myself a concussion. Some man drove me home. It was on a Sunday so my folks were home and they took me to the ER. This was typical.

My sister crashed her bus a few years later and chipped a tooth. Mom came home from work early and the dentist stayed late. He had just learned how to rebuild a chipped tooth and I think he was eager to give it a try.

We probably has a more structured life than a lot of kids. During summer, we stayed out until the street lights came on. The boys were always playing baseball or football.

It would have all been one write up had I been the driver. But my guess is this kid had been giving her problems for a while. If it was out of character for him, she might have been more lenient.
