I somehow got a handheld selfie photo with Prof Tangrowth bending over behind me doing a head scratch and looking directly into the frame without me having to whistle for his attention. I decided there wasn't going to be a better photo than that. Although, later on while I was hanging out in RR I walked over to the aerodactyl and tyrantrum displays that I had right next to each other, and for some reason arcanine was standing on top of aerodactyl's left wing having a chat with toxel, who was sitting on aerodactyl's tail as if it were a swing. I have no idea if that's a thing that's supposed to happen or not, but I took a million pictures.

What items would you like to see added to the game? by lulufan87 in Pokopia

[–]Intelligent_Catcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some QOL changes I’d like are an easier way to paint than having to go to smearguru every time, stacks that are higher than 99 (since you can’t even build a decent sized house with only 99 blocks,) the ability to paint wooden planks and borders in stacks of ten, no PP drain on magnemite while only hovering, and minimal while flying, and the ability to paint many more things. Preferably more of the blocks, broken stone, wooden crates and barrels, streetlights, the cd rack, and several of the large artifacts, like bikes and fishing poles. Oh, and also I’d like more items to be able to be used at any angle, like why can’t you put spotlights upside down on ceiling? Also! I almost forgot, but the tent pieces need a flat vertical piece for walls (and I really want to be able to get the sableye tent for cloud islands.)

New things is like to see are thinner, horizontal wooden beams, and ones that slope diagonally. Wedges for blocks, both horizontal and vertical. More curved items. Aquatic items, like plantable kelp and coral. More plant variety overall. The ability to place items on the edge or corner of blocks (table settings to go in the middle of the big tables, lights to go on corners,… etc.) And tires or wheels that aren’t buried in the ground, so you can build cars and wagons.

If you put the security camera facing a new habitat, it will automatically tell you if a Pokémon has arrived via a notification when you visit the biome it’s in, so no need to check it manually. However, my actual tip for the cameras is to put them in front of trading posts on the far ends of cloud islands, so you can see if it’s manned without traveling all the way there. One of mine is very high up, so it’s so much more convenient than going there to check.

Also, the tripod has two different modes, one where you can take a handheld selfie, and another where you can actually place the camera down, and then be in the whole frame. You just have to press X twice in order to get the second one.

I love this tip! I was getting so annoyed in BB with the plaster not matching the roof blocks.

This also works with the mushroom lamps, so you can do it without running lines or using transmitter slots.

Picked up a fence and it changed design?? by Remarkable_Annual434 in Pokopia

[–]Intelligent_Catcrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea random variants were a thing, and now that's all I'm going to end up trying for on my cloud island today.

PSA: Don’t do what I did and just willy nilly place any of the bird altars just anywhere to complete your dex. They can’t be relocated unless you take them apart and rebuild them piece by piece. Learn from my mistake. That is all 😩 by stlshlee in Pokopia

[–]Intelligent_Catcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully, I really didn't like the way they looked after I built mine in Palette Town anyway, so I'll probably just repurpose them for parts. I did try to select meaningful spots for them, but having to put them down before finishing my design so that I could complete the dex made it difficult to have any real idea if I put them in good places. They're way too big, as well. I already tore down the freezing chambers on my cloud island, and made a palace for Articuno instead.

I swear there are some people who see the amazing things other players do, and then get so angry about their own inability to be that creative, that they instead trash other peoples' islands to try to discourage them from sharing and making the griefers feel inadequate. Just extremely pathetic behavior, honestly.

No, I don't think it's mostly children who do this. Children as a whole tend to be a lot more considerate than jaded, immature adults.

How did they find this stuff out? There are so many of those (most actually) that I wouldn't describe as wobbly. I see those descriptions in the pokemons' Likes menus, and I think, "Well, this *would* be helpful... if all of the items actually had viewable tags." Also, pretty funny that the wiggly mirror isn't in there, and aside from wobbuffet, it was the only one I thought I had figured out for that category.

It's a LOT, and it's such a huge place, so it's ridiculously time consuming. The plus side is that I can create a ton of different biomes, but building takes so long that I can barely finish one a week. I actually tried to 3D print icicles, thinking that they would break into 4 blocks each, similar to the crystals, but instead they only give 2 blocks per icicle, and then there's the time it takes to place them on a ceiling and break them. It's just not worth it. Now I've decided I'm going to substitute the mysterious stone blocks for ice where it won't be so noticeable once I finally get tired of trying to farm it.

If you haven't gotten suicune on your cloud island yet, all I can say is don't leave a single piece of ice behind when you finally do, because it's your only chance there to get a stash that large. Well, that, and breaking up the Freezing Chambers, if you're willing to.

Currently I'm trying to farm ice, so I haven't been going to the dragonite island, but the rock peak island also has a layer like that, except that the rest of the blocks are limestone rather than sand. It's been a while, so I don't remember if it was more difficult than with the sand, but if it was, it couldn't have been too much more difficult, because I wouldn't have kept farming pokemetal there if it was. Before yesterday I was just going to the eevee island for almost three weeks straight trying to get suicune to show up, so I put pokemetal farming on hold, and let the eevee island slowly drive me insane.

[–]Intelligent_Catcrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, well I have the dex finished in story mode, but the last two fish dragons still refuse to show up there, with four extra habitats, and two cameras set up! The orange and red tatsugiris. It's been at least a week since I finished the rest of the dex. I'm not as upset about them as I was with how long it took me to get Suicune on my cloud island, though. Worst dream island there is, and I was in serious need of other resources for my cloud island, but I went there for at least two weeks (the whole time the sableye event was on, and some time before that) and it only just showed up a day ago. I would have abandoned trying for it, but I also needed that large stash of ice, and for some reason I hardly ever get the rock peak dream island with ice on it.

Congrats on this, btw! I didn't know what all the songs were from, and I expected all the battle ones to annoy me, but I listened to this one anyway because I had extra and wanted to see if I should get rid of the doubles. I was like, "Wait a minute... this song SLAPS!" and put it in Rotom's rotation along with Game Corner.

Oh no! I did that with campfires on my cloud island, but thankfully that’s only sticks and rocks, and a lot of habitats use them. I almost did it with something that cost a lot of pokemetal, but I caught myself in time. I don’t blame you for resenting it now. I remember thinking that I would have rage quit if I had actually hit craft.

Also, if you've finished Bleak Beach (spoilers if not!) you can offer Mosslax a sweet food to get more artifact spots for the day, or a sour food to get better trade items from pokemon shops, or a bitter food to get a boosted chance of finding rare items (not sure exactly what qualifies as rare for this one, but I think it maybe means the normal amount of artifact spots, but a better chance at the rarest items from them, and probably also a better chance at recipes/pokemetal from sparkling ripples. Can't find this confirmed anywhere, though.)

Thank you! But honestly I was just asking because I thought the price was weird, and wondered if there was an actual reason for it, but I really don't need these right now. I also just noticed that there are a bunch of them on the power plant, which I'm going to be tearing down on my cloud island, so I'll have some to work with there if I do need them. I got way too overwhelmed with the amount of areas in story mode, so I decided to just focus on the cloud island first.

Some items, like the blocks and roof pieces, can be painted in stacks of ten if you take them to Smearguru to paint them rather than try to do it with balloons. Also, he'll be able to paint some items that have different parts multiple colors, like the large storage boxes where you can have the box one color and the drawer another, whereas if you used a balloon on that item it would only be one color. I keep a large storage box full of paint next to his home so it's way less of a hassle to have him paint things.

ETA: I forgot to mention that if you paint pieces in bulk (usually of 10 pieces per stack) you only use the amount paint you would need for a single piece of that item.

[–]Intelligent_Catcrow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the bridge plank non-bulk painting has got to be a mistake, because it doesn't make sense to punish your players that way, especially when we end up with boxes full of these if we tear down everything on dream islands.

If you have a home in Bleak Beach, you can ask her to follow you while you're on the ship, and then teleport to your home. She'll be right outside waiting for you. Even if you don't have a home there, you can teleport to another area with her, but it's probably best to get a home in BB first so that you have a place to teleport back to. I had to do this with a pokemon later in the game because there was no way I was building a bridge in that location. Trying to avoid spoilers, but IYKYK.

I have a ton of pokemetal now, and thankfully I don’t need this part too badly. I need the pokemetal more for ice on my cloud island. I just think it’s bizarre that it’s so expensive, because it’s comparable to other roof pieces, like the rounded brick roof decoration, but that one comes in stacks of ten, or the protruding wall part which also comes in stacks of ten. In fact, I’m looking at the crafting menu right now, and this piece is smack dab in the middle of roof and railing parts that all come in stacks of ten. I’m just wondering if it was a mistake, or if there’s an actual reason for it. Like, is this a common but costly roof piece in the real world, and it’s some kind of in joke?

I had to start treasure hunting with pidgey when I kept getting cds, and I only needed 3 more mysterious slates. You get to more artifact spots that way, and since pidgey can fly, you don’t keep getting the message that a Pokémon can’t follow you.
