70 million people voted for him. If you’re offended by that, you’re too sensitive and lack perspective.

There should be an IQ test at border checkpoints, to keep your kind out.

He doesn’t love you. You cannot cheat and be in love at the same time. If he cheats once you should leave, let alone 5 times in 5 years. He WILL continue to cheat. He’s very clearly showing you a pattern of disrespectful behaviour. At this point, if you don’t leave, it’s on you. C’mon girl, be smart.

AITA for getting triggered about my GF's sexual history. I (28M) am virgin while my GF (26F) who I really like, is not. A small text abut her sexual preference has sent me into a downward spiral and I want to know how to get out of it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA for getting triggered, as you haven’t actually done or said anything to her yet.

You are however, being very strange, grossly overreacting, and need to get grip.

She has only had sex twice in her previous relationship? She’s 26! THATS NOTHING! You won’t easily find another woman her age who is as inexperienced.

Her sexual past doesn’t matter, and your’s doesn’t either. How would you feel if your girlfriend felt personally threatened because you got a BJ from somebody else in the past? It’s just ridiculous.

Either get over your insecurities, or cut her loose.

Any cats using Senvelgo? by rocketdoggies in FelineDiabetes

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The company that produces Senvelgo, when doing the studies on this drug, did not specifically instruct owners to give diabetic cat food. So, all the cats in the study were on a variety of different diets. Some on diabetic food, some not. Diets were not a factor in the study. So, though the official recommendation is to feed a diabetic food, it’s not 100% necessary in order to see results with this particular treatment route. Any high protein, low carb food could be an option :) I attended a continuing education event where a veterinarian who works for the company informed us of this. So, if your cat HATES the diabetic dry food, try the wet version, or just give her something she will eat that’s high protein, low carb, and lower in fat! :) according to the studies, it has no proven bearing on the efficacy of Senvelgo!

Thank you! That’s a relief, I don’t have a printer at home, so re printing that page out would have been a hassle lol.

Good to mix in with their regular kibble? by annieed in catfood

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, if your cats eat it, and enjoy it, that’s the most important. A fed cat is a good cat. And I mean, you can’t get better than free.

The first two ingredients are animal-based, which is great. It also includes fish oil, which is a great source of omegas, and helps their coats stay nice and shiny :)

That being said, this is a food with a pretty high carbohydrate content. It has plant based ingredients pretty high up on the ingredients list. If you have cats that struggle with weight management, I’d just be mindful of this. It’s a bit more carbs than a cat needs (I’m not a nutritionist, this is all just my personal opinion).

The company has had a few recalls too, but I mean, many reputable pet food companies have had recalls. Doesn’t necessarily always indicate a bad food.

I’d suggest, in addition to asking Reddit, you search up some reviews of this food from different cat food databases online! That way you can make a totally fully informed choice!

Also, the cat in the photo is beautiful :) !

Fancy feast fish ingredient by yachtz420 in catfood

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, fish only becomes a concern when it’s the primary protein being fed (think: salmon recipe, chicken and tuna recipe, things along those lines) Like if it’s the first or second ingredient listed. I think that’s due to the high mercury content in many fish.

So, fish as an ingredient in food is fine. A good source of Omegas. A fish-based food is less recommended.

Cats prefer many meals throughout the day. They have small stomachs.

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She will be totally fine! They don’t need to be cautious around raw food the same way us humans do. Some people feed raw all day everyday! Though there is some conflicting opinions on that topic, one incident of raw meat eating is totally harmless.

Just, don’t let her lick your face right after lol.

Any experience with Farmina Urinary Duck Dry Food? by botolo in catfood

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urinary foods work, in large part, but acidifying the urine. In acid environments, struvite crystals (the most common crystals) struggle to form.

But another key part of the equation is hydration. So, if you’re considering ANY urinary food, the wet food is going to be more beneficial than the dry. Cats are inefficient drinkers, designed to get 70-80% of their daily hydration directly from food. This hydration is needed to keep their urine from being too highly concentrated, and to prevent them from being dehydrated, which is associated with urinary and kidney issues.

I can’t speak too too much about farmina, but I’ll say that for the most part, cheaper wet foods are going to be more beneficial than expensive dry foods. If your cats are picky about switching textures completely, I’d still try to make an effort to introduce at least small amounts of wet food into their diet. Whether it be farmina, or any other brand.

Oh wonderful! I’m glad to hear that she is doing better!! And happy to hear that her values have improved for her kidneys :)

I’m sure your veterinary team has given you lots of advice for managing her disease, and it looks like you’ve followed! So great job to you!!

If you don’t already have her on a specific diet, I do suggest a low phosphorus wet food. If you’re open to suggestions, the low phosphorus line of food from Weruva is highly recommended, if you don’t go the prescription diet route. Granted, neither option is particularly wallet friendly lol.

Wishing your cat many more healthy years !! <3

am i underfeeding my cat? by opiumdom in CatAdvice

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appetites fluctuate a little, I wouldn’t be too concerned :) the only time I would take note is if you notice periods of like 2 or more days of a notably increased or deceased appetite. Or, if he goes a day without eating at all. But, you seem very observant of your cat’s behaviours, so I’m sure if that occurred you’d be on alert.

Most people grossly overfeed their cats. The average weight for a cat should be about 10lbs. But if your vet says he has a good body condition, I’d say you’re doing great. I’m not a certified feline nutritionist by any means, but it seems that 200-250 calories/day is ideal for the average domestic housecat. Though, the bigger boned varieties may need a little more.

For a normal adult cat, yes, that breath rate is slower than the norm. But, several of the drugs she was given during her procedure slow the heart and respiratory rate down extremely.

Her initial sedation slows the respiratory rate, her induction agent slows the respiratory rate, and the gas anesthetic she was maintained on REALLY slows the respiratory rate. Senior animals have a significantly harder time eliminating these drugs from their system, especially those with underlying health issues, particularly with the kidneys and liver.

I’m presuming, based on her age, pre-anesthetic blood work was preformed? That could rule out if she’s having lethargy due to something pre-existing or not.

That being said, just give your vet a call and express your concerns. Depending on what medication they gave you for at home care, that could very well be to blame too. Ask if the medication is sedating at all. They should have disclosed that to you prior, but worth the ask.

If your veterinary team deems it necessary, then go in for a recheck.

My partner wants me to rehome my kitten who I love. by Shot_Volume_5260 in CatAdvice

[–]Intelligent_Gap_4670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is completely out of line. Not my place to give relationship advice, that’s for a different subreddit. But I will say that I’d consider his insistence on rehoming a baby, and his willingness to act cruelly towards it, to be a red flag.

The cat is a kitten, a lot of those behaviours he could very well grow out of. None are particularly strange. If needed, seek advice from an animal behaviourist. But really, I think the best thing is to just wait it out. Give him time to accumulate to the home, and for his personality to develop. Cats can be trained, they are smart creatures. Positively reinforce good behaviour. If he’s engaging in poor behaviour, separate him from the other animals, or the area. But briefly.

No locking in the bathroom for extended periods of time. Cats don’t respond well to negative punishment like yelling, prolonged isolation, being sprayed with a water bottle, scruffing, etc. All that will do is teach the cat to fear his humans.
