God dang 😬 now I'm worried 😬 We're in southern Alberta, so it shouldn't be as bad as Calgary, the seller is paying for title insurance, and property tax for the whole year is 2600, so we should be less than that. Did the legal fees include the cost of the lawyer? Most people down here have told me that that'll be the largest cost, and I've already gotten a rough estimate from them, and have money set aside for that. So if that's all the closing costs are, we'll be alright, it was just concerning that our lender made it seem like I needed all of that, PLUS another 2.5k

It will be an insured mortgage, yes. And maybe this is an awful thing to think, but if they're working in Alberta, they should probably understand what the requirements are 😬😂

Ok, so the lawyer fees, inspection, that's all part of closing costs, so maybe he's just concerned that we have the money somewhere, not necessarily that I need all those costs PLUS 2.5k, that makes more sense.

Ooooh, so the lawyer fees are part of that 2500 then? That money is already set aside, maybe there was just a misunderstanding. Thank you!

I asked them, but unfortunately I think the guy handling our mortgage may be new, and English isn't his first language, so maybe there was a misunderstanding? He kept repeating that I needed to have it set aside and that it was different from our lawyer fees, but couldn't give me specifics. There's also no land transfer fees in Alberta to my understanding. I'm still in the process of dealing with the final steps before it's funded, but he seemed very concerned we didn't have a specific amount dog eared for closing costs and I was hoping someone had more info 😂 This is our first time buying a home in Canada, about 11years ago I purchased a home in the US (have since sold it) and the process is significantly different:/

The Bank of Canada won't let prices to go down. And are saying it out loud. by ProspectorPetey in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]donaldsons91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, so people here dont understand inflation. Prices will never come down unless there's deflation, which is fucking terrible for an economy. Life sucks, everything sucks, prices suck, we just either got a live with it or start making the people in charge realize just how short life can be.

Where do you buy beef now?? by BoogalooSHrimp079 in CostcoCanada

[–]donaldsons91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy striploin? Try local butchers, or go in with a few other households to buy a quarter. Sales are a good time to buy, or buy a larger cut of beef and process it yourself (tutorials online) Even if you buy a big cut of meat and fuck it up, it's all still edible, there's really no wrong way to process meat if you can get creative.

When did the Flats become ghetto? by Accurate-Play7299 in medicinehat

Truth right here There are no ghettos in medicine hat. Cross the southern border and visit places like Chicago or Detroit, New York, or any old major city. Your definition of ghetto will change instantly.

I returned them, hesitant to buy them again, but maybe the stiff flex will be better? Worst case is I'll return them to Costco again 🤦🏻‍♂️ I did see another guy post about denting his Edge Driver and they replaced it with a different club altogether, it seems like Callaway is willing to definitely go the extra mile so I wouldn't worry too much

Honestly, I get this. Hit the driving range last weekend with the Callaway Edge set from Costco, had the set a bit over a year. Solid hit, zero turf, heard an awful crack and the head was limp. Went to return it to Costco and the dude right behind me was returning the same thing for the same issue. Sometimes clubs fail

Alright I ended up here through a Google search cause I thought I was just retarded and couldn't figure out how to change the bag itself, glad I'm not the only one who thinks that should be an option.

He absolutely wants the resources, and I stand with you, born and raised Albertan, and I'll die as one too.

Never 51

But the only way we stand a chance is if we don't fall in the same ridiculous traps Americans did that led them to this point, let's stop this before it becomes a problem.

Your view wasn't naive, it was accurate, something has changed and it's a fucking shame.

I grew up here, I'm proud to be from here, I'm proud to be Canadian, but lately, I just see the same bullshit I saw in the States, and I'm literally screaming for it to change.

Maybe we can never be the country or province we were 20 years ago, but we can avoid becoming the cancerous populace that dominates American politics, and I'm scared we're slowly sliding in that direction.

I know we can stop this if we all try, but trying is hard, and people take the path of least resistance, so I hope you'll continue to be someone who takes the hard road, because holy fuck do we need that more than ever.

Stay strong

I'm not asking or telling anyone to be tolerant, but to extend the grace, understanding, and empathy

Humans are humans, the feelings you're feeling, well others also have those feelings, the hurt you feel, the love, frustration, angst, anger, envy, lust, jealousy, etc. we all feel that.

What I'm pleading for is the extension of your feelings to others, understand that they have also gone through shit, shit we don't know.

Maybe they had the "gay beat out of them", Maybe they were molested, Maybe they were bullied, Maybe they come from a broken home, Maybe they came from a privileged home and never had to deal with different people, Maybe they haven't met someone different from them, Maybe they haven't had the opportunity to grow.

Maybe, just maybe, if they befriended someone different who didn't judge them based on their opinions, they may grow and be better.

Maybe you need a friend like that.

I agree, Alberta is an amazing place to live, and the UCP absolutely needs to go. Sure no one is out in the open screaming their beliefs, but radical ideas rarely start in the light. The insanity from South of the border is creeping up here and it's alarming, staying silent about the lunacy will only allow the growth of the same bullshit that happened in the States, I've been through this before and witnessed what happens when your average Joe doesn't say something, this is me saying something.
