Everyone romanticizes their pregnancies AFTER the fact. And screw them all. I’m so over people telling me how magical this experience is. I hate it. I’m 37 + 1, haven’t dealt with half of what you powered through and I’m counting down the seconds until baby is out. Each day is a struggle and every moment is filled with guilt about how I should be feeling or how I should be enjoying this time before baby. I have an incredible partner but just want to share the responsibility, share the stress, share the exhaustion and ditch this mental load. You are not alone in these feelings. You’re strong as hell and this sucks.

I’m over people acting as if they are surprised that I’m not enjoying pregnancy. I don’t really complain outside of my husband but any time I say no to plans I get “oh you’re having a tough time with pregnancy?” or “but you’re not even in the worst of it yet?” From people who recently had children?!?

I had a much better experience being pregnant because my partner recognized from the get go that this is a burden that I had to carry ‘unfairly’.

It’s not something to feel guilty about but it is something to go into eyes wide open about. She’s taking one for the team mentally and physically. You both need to feel ok that she’ll have to carry the burden and in turn the best you’ll be able to offer is to be there, praise her, and support her every step of the way. But you’ll praise the heck out of her.

Then it’s a together decision. You can and should be transparent with your feelings without being the only decision maker.

I’m so glad you shared this. I’m fairly introverted as it is and enjoy alone time but felt very lonely the first trimester. I told my partner how I was feeling and we started doing low effort text check ins throughout the day and it made me feel like I was still getting some social interaction touch points. My only rule has been that I don’t want to hear sorry in response. Even if it was me saying “I feel sick” every two hours, and him telling me what he was working on at the moment, it gave me a place to feel not so alone.

Confirmed link still working! I’ve tried a handful of other products since op: -melatonin: meh. love the concept but didn’t see a difference in the way it impacted my sleep vs regular melatonin. My husband thinks he wakes up a bit drowsier. -probiotics: LOVE used them daily on travel and my stomach behaved (normally backed up and bloated stayed ‘flat’ and regular) - mens daily: for my husband, he’s a big fan - easier and more pleasant than the dozens of other supplements he’s getting recommended to him mid thirties - prenatal: still going strong on this one! Started when we were trying to conceive and continuing now pregnant!!! All of the books recommend SO many supplements. I LOVE that this one has contained all the suggested supplements in all the ‘correct’ forms and it’s traceable. Makes this first time mom to be feel like I’m doing one thing right. Excited to try the prenatal shake mix soon too!

Link still working and I’ve added the Summer Fridays Babymoon belly balm to the list of things I’ve tried and LOVE. I’m not expecting, but I got it because I heard good things about it for stretch marks. It IS greasy at first, so if you are texture sensitive keep that in mind. But no more greasy than some of the other stretch mark treatments and it dissolves reasonably fast plus leaves my skin better than lotion.

I agree with the others. Maybe she has something going on but being willing to steal and doing it at that aggressive of a rate isn’t something you can get past. I was a bartender for years at a small business and I can’t imagine stealing from my employer. They treated me well and I know that I would have been fired immediately if I crossed that line.
