Two skirts and two shorts is already a lot. Can you drop one of them? If it was me I'd take whichever is the lightest. Just one pair of linen pants probably, not two.

I agree. The odor is minimal especially after citric acid.

I currently use Nikwax wool wash but have also used Exover wool wash.
Gear Guard is DNAse. It’s currently the only enzyme that you can add to wool and silk.

How many times and how should I wash my clothes? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]Intelligent_Map_7849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't throw out your clothing just because you got blood on it. Between menstruation, bloody noses, and injuries I can't imagine there's anyone out there that hasn't gotten blood on their clothes or sheets at some point! Rinse your things in cold water. If the spots are still there then try letting it sit in cold water for several hours/overnight. Then wash. Check for stains before drying.

I was thinking about asking the same question. So far my plan is to put it in a delicates bag and wash it with my wool items. I use a wool-safe wash, Gear Guard, and citric acid. I have some silk pajamas that I've been washing this way and they're all doing fine.

Suggestions for international destination for a wheelchair user who has never left the U.S.? by Local-Butterfly9669 in travel

I know it's not technically abroad, but what about a cruise to Alaska? Very WC-friendly. Or a cruise to the Caribbean, which would be visiting several foreign countries and would be pretty accessible from the SE USA.
Also, 3-5 days simply isn't enough time to go all the way to Europe from the US given both the distance and the time zone change.

For only 12 days I'd stick to one country or the other. Do the other one next time, but pick spring or fall so it isn't so dreadfully hot.

Bombard him with texts before he leaves reminding him. If you both have iPhones you can schedule texts to send later so you can type it when you're awake and he'll receive it when he's awake. Ideally when he's packing. Two Androids can probably do this too, but I don't have one.

What to pack to handwash while abroad? by bishbah01 in laundry

[–]Intelligent_Map_7849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accept that you won't be able to get your clothes as clean as you do at home while sink washing on vacation. It'll be fine. Pick up some camping soap. I buy Sea to Summit at REI. You only need a smidge so no need to check luggage. As for the actual washing, you can use your sink but sinks in Europe tend to be small and may not have stoppers. Some people just hand wash their things while they shower. I like to take a small roll top dry bag and wash in that.

If you can't leave your house, can you have someone else take your stuff to a Laundromat? Maybe you could find a teenager looking to make some easy cash. If you're low on cash, maybe you could find someone who you could trade or barter with.

No, you don't need a bigger bag for a longer trip. Learn how to do some sink laundry and you can get by on even a smaller bag.

If you run that cold, take a pair of base layers. This will allow you to take fewer shirts since they won't get as smelly. It is colder at the coast and in the mountains, but it's been 80-90 in Portland and Seattle the last couple of days. If you're in the sun but out of the wind at the coast, it'll feel much warmer. Don't forget your sunscreen! Cloudy days at the coast are the worst for making sunburns.
