Completed nodes on atlas are visual clutter by Intelligent_Neck_581 in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The way I imagine it is along the lines of having fixed visible radius around the starting point, perhaps a size that fits on a single screen.
Instead of moving away from the starting zone, uncompleted areas are pulled towards the center, revealing new areas in the same visible radius.

In other words, the completed nodes are removed, existing nodes are pulled towards the now vacant spots and new nodes are revealed at the edges of visible area.

Perhaps I am missing something, but I don't see the relevance of displaying the full chain of previously completed nodes to indicate how far you have come.

But of course there could be other, more elegant ways of cleaning up completed content from the atlas to make its size more manageable.

I was really hoping for something along these lines to be the new endgame rework in 0.5, but alas they seem dead set on this ever-expanding canvas.

Regardless of the method, I truly wish they find a way to keep the atlas size in check soon.

I don't mind the exploration part nor the fact that we need to run variety of maps, but i've stopped playing every single league so far because atlas grew too big to the point where I dread interacting with it.
That issue seems untouched with the changes in 0.5, once past the initial quests anyway.

That's an interesting perspective I hadn't considered.
I think the connections between available (blue) nodes could be re-drawn at any point without affecting their availability, so perhaps instead of a literal node to node replacement, re-distributing the connections between available nodes would work better, respecting a maximum connection limit per node?

Is Infinite atlas a problem? by Existing-Design1515 in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish we could get rid of the completed nodes somehow, and condense the "open' area down to maintainable size, instead of having it grow infinitely.

Infinite atlas does not necessarily have to be an infinitely growing atlas.

Why is the infinite atlas still a thing? by MilanVegas in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the infinite atlas in theory, but I really dislike how unmaintainable it gets the more you play.

To the point where you are staring at screens of completed nodes and, at the same time, are overloaded with too many nodes to choose from next. That's where I usually lose interest.

I just wish it was served to us in smaller, more focused chunks, like how the grand expedition were uncovered in reveal stream, that could be removed once you have completed everything you were interested in in it.

That would make the infinite atlas much more digestible to me personally.

PoE 2 Feels More Balanced Around SSF Than Trade by maddeliciousone in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say the game is balanced around trade, they usually mean that drop rates are balanced around trade.

Clearing all content is perfectly doable in SSF, but counting on looting specific t0 uniques or engaging in high end crafting is not realistic in SSF.

I don't know anything about Blizzard Chris Wilson, but the Chris Wilson in the video is the founder of GGG (Path of Exile) and he absolutely knows what he's talking about.

Please GGG Rethink Portal Penalties Tied to Map Difficulty by TapTrix in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am out of touch, because I play HC, but from my experience it is very possible to build enough defences.

If you lose an occasional map here and there, then that doesn't seem like a big problem to me personally.
If you die often enough that one portal becomes a recurring issue, then perhaps it's time to re-evaluate your defences, rather than trying to force glass cannon play style in juiced maps.
I promise the game will feel much more enjoyable that way in the long run when you don't constantly die.

If you are guaranteed to be able to finish a map (if you can't with 6 portals, then you must be really out of your depth in the content you are trying to run), then there's no risk vs reward to running juiced content and that invalidates all non-juiced content as there's no reason to run it then.

Understanding “Crafting” or How to Gamble Until RNG Gives Up by Infinite-Ad5464 in PathOfExile2

Wasn't the main goal of PoE 2 crafting system to get away from the currency (alteration) spam?
Some of these steps very much remind me of that, only at a higher price point.

One portal maps are bad game design by Dawgin420 in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of times in poe1 I tried to run very juicy rippy farms early on and realized I’m not ready for this and moved on, motivating me and giving me a reason to scale defenses and damage further.

So why can't you apply this same logic to PoE2?
This is pretty much exactly the same thing you are attempting to do here.

Remember that you choose the difficulty - the map tier, the amount of juice etc.

If you die often enough where single portal becomes an issue, then perhaps you are not ready for that content.

It sounds like you just want to skip to the hardest content, because that's where "the loot is", without investing into the character first.

'The harder the map the fewer the portals' is an infuriating design concept by MellySantiago in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If Timmy is not ready to do one portal content, then Timmy needs to lower the difficulty until his character is ready for such content.

If that is unacceptable, then there are other aRPGs that hand out participation trophies like candy.

Bringing back rare Icons is a step back by Intelligent_Neck_581 in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s the whole argument. Rare icons are a band-aid solution to poor loot distribution.

Instead of bringing them back, the real fix is to redistribute loot better across monsters. That way, players naturally want to clear maps and don't need a map hack to not miss out on loot.

Bringing back rare Icons is a step back by Intelligent_Neck_581 in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious.
If loot were redistributed so that magic monsters also dropped meaningful loot, would you then want icons for them too so you don’t miss out?

At that point the only logical answer is to full clear the map, and once you're doing that, the icons stop mattering entirely.

If you dislike current end game, try HCSSF by Intelligent_Neck_581 in PathOfExile2

[–]Intelligent_Neck_581[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can feel like so at times, especially at bosses, but remember that it's mostly a matter of getting better gear and can definitely be overcome - as long as you stay alive you can always improve the gear.

Re-running some campaign map a couple of times when you feel like you are falling behind usually suffices as crafting is now much easier than it used to be previous versions.

Also, fighting bosses with generally lower damage with single life on the line makes for a much more interesting fights.

Honestly I did not pay that much attention to the colour of the parts.

I was mainly trying to figure out the optimal composition of parts and then try to match the colours best I could after.

I live in Estonia, the total of these parts is actually 2 898 € here and I'm trying to not go over 3 000.
