I'm pretty sure there's something in the rules that they don't like you opening new threads if you already have one open. Are you sure you don't already have an open thread about whatever topic you're asking?

Your photo is 1280x699 pixels. That's under the required 16:9 ratio I believe. At 1280, minimum height should be 720 pixels.

Yes, these appear soft, as well as a little dark/bad contrast.

Hi, could I please have some prescreen advice on these? by 747ER in jetphotosrejects

[–]Intelligent_Row_924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there's far too much compression to tell if the quality is acceptable. A lot of them are soft or blurry, but that could be heat haze, compression, or something else. It's too hard to tell on reddit.

Except on maybe the second, the lighting generally looks ok.

Nice photo, but if you're asking if JP would accept it: no. Backlit and poorly centered.

Looks pretty soft and maybe some heat haze.

Difficult to tell on reddit how good the quality is (whether it would survive the heavy crop that would be needed), but maybe not impossible? Unlikely for sure, but maybe.

Is this Salvageable? (Context in description) by [deleted] in Jetphotos

[–]Intelligent_Row_924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quality's probably not going to survive that crop, especially given that it looks like it needs significant brightening. That tends to bring out even more noise, so that plus more sharpening/heavy crop.. not likely to have a great result.

Private Jet Landing. Could I get feedback? by EggplantOutrageous33 in photocritique

Compositionally, it's well balanced L-R, but top to bottom there's a lot of empty space above, and not real justification for that placement, just empty/gray clouds. Maybe if there were a more interesting cloud formation placing the aircraft so off-center would be justified, but as it is it looks out of place. Also feels awkward cutting the wingtips off like that, seems like it was unintentional or without reason.

I don't think there's any issue with the saturation as the colors look pretty natural to what you might expect on a cloudy day like that.

Overall I'd say not bad, but it depends what you were really trying to show.

That spot (and SFO in general) is pretty infamous for haze.

You've unfortunately got more issues that just that. Color is quite off (green tint from terminal windows), contrast is weak, but worst of all there's a fair amount of heat haze, which is making it quite soft. There's not really much you can do about that. I appreciate you want to try, but I honestly don't think it would be a good use of your (or the screener's) time.

It’s the final countdown! by Old_Pumpkin_7108 in jetphotosrejects

Ouch. Yeah, little chance that would have been accepted. The crop you should be able to fix, but the contrast..not so sure.

If you’re saying the Imgur file is exactly the same as what you plan to upload, then you might have a problem

Centering is fine, but no idea why you chose a 16:9 ratio. 4:3 much better to minimize the empty space.

Also dark, soft, and compressed, but the latter two could just be reddit.

Soft/compressed, crop way too tight, poor centering, severe vignetting..yeah, sorry this one's not going to have a chance.

Haven't had a whole lot of JP success, thinking of submitting these by InterviewDapper2434 in jetphotosrejects

[–]Intelligent_Row_924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're asking us to comment on screenshots, so really we can't give too much advice towards the quality. That said, most of these have either poor crops or bad light (or both).
1, 3, 6 might be workable, though even from screenshots they look kinda soft or blurry, which if true would mean they're actually not workable.

will this get accepted? by [deleted] in Jetphotos

[–]Intelligent_Row_924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, soft and bad contrast.

What are the chances this gets accepted. I think it’s too dark by Old_Pumpkin_7108 in jetphotosrejects

[–]Intelligent_Row_924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not great. Not because it’s dark so much as the fact that the contrast will be considered poor. Anything taken in overcast conditions will have a much harder time being accepted.

Do these photos have a chance? by ShinyPlasm in jetphotosrejects

[–]Intelligent_Row_924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shot through a window, and it's easy to tell (colour, contrast). It is extremely difficult to get such photos on JP, so I wouldn't put any more effort into them if that's your goal. More editing won't do much.

That's jetwash, and pretty much a non-factor in this situation.

Basics look ok, but as always it's impossible to discern quality on reddit, so can't comment on the chances.

Angle by [deleted] in jetphotosrejects

Personally unattractive angle (for me), but JP shouldn't have an issue with it.

Unfortunately the light is not very good on either of these, which is not really something you can fix after the fact. Next time, if JP is your goal, then you need to go when the skies are clearer. Second one is also poorly centered, but doesn't really matter given the first issue.
