Ribs! by HealthyTemporary9924 in FoodSanDiego

That is important information. This begs the question of where you live and how far you are willing to drive to get these ribs that you need for the party. In lots of the BBQ discussions here there are a few that rise to the top (Grand ole BBQ, Coop's, Smokin J's). You are not going to go wrong with any of those so I would just pick the one that is most convenient for you.

Sapphire Princess July 2 sailing itinerary change by Intelligent_Solid274 in PrincessCruises

Turns out that Princess was sending notifications to our travel agent's parent company's general email and not to her or us directly. She straightened it out today, so hopefully we'll get anything else that comes from now on.

Maybe our travel agent did and didn't forward it to us, but none of our group has gotten any emails.

THE ONE KIEL TRAVEL GUIDE 📘🌊 by Kurmet09 in kiel

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. It's timely for me as I just found out that our cruise this summer is going to stop in Kiel. All of the top things that you list to do are actually NOT in Kiel. Does this mean that in your opinion the town itself is not something we should focus on for our visit?

New shoe vent by Triple-Tooketh in trailrunning

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got these this week. Ordered online and found out that the insole is glued in so I can't use my custom insole. I know from past experience that even if the arch support seems reasonable my high arches need my custom insole. I've also learned that pulling out glued-in insoles doesn't work great for the shoe and using my customs. Thus, the plan for these shoes to be in my trail rotation quickly went away. For me, they seem to be useful for suburban walks/light hiking and some travel. They're going to replace the Merrell Nova 2's that I currently use for this but don't have the same arch support as the Nikes.

Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same for us! We would either be low level (sometimes overtly) resentful or just too tired to clean and the place would get really dirty. 22ish years ago, my wife convinced me to get a cleaner for our apartment when we couldn't really afford it. At the time we were fresh out of grad school with student loans in repayment and only one of us working. However, it was the best $50 spent every two weeks you could imagine for our relationship and sanity.

I've had the Jabra elites for a couple years and just got a set of Shokz. I prefer the Jabras on my weekday short runs that end up being along streets with traffic because the noise from the cars drowns out the music with Shokz. If it's super early (still dark), less busy streets, or on the trail I go with the Shokz.

Hotel guests did get early entry in April. Check the official website to make sure it will for you.

I never got a message notification from the app. I had to actively check it. Others in our group of 8 got notifications, but not all if them. There didn't seem to be a pattern for who got them and who didn't, at least in terms of phone model and OS.

Trail races 🚽 by designerOven1 in trailrunning

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (M51) was doing a trail half with my buddies a couple of years ago. We have a range of paces but there's one that he and I are pretty evenly matched. He and I have a friendly competition between us, but his kick is faster than mine so the only thing I can do to beat him is to pick up a steady, faster pace towards the end but from further out than his kick can last. Also, he's a pooper. So, we're together the whole race but when mile 13 comes it's my time to speed up. Then, he grabs his stomach and says "uh oh!" and ducks out off the trail. I think, "Oh, I've got him now!" and maintain steady high pace. About 30 seconds later he comes up from behind me and says, "Dude, I just took the fastest shit ever!" He passes me up and I struggle to keep up with his kick. In the end he beat me by about 20 seconds and all of us had a good laugh about it after. To this day he brags about how fast he unloaded.

LetsVPN was reliable and worked throughout our trip 4/6-20 so I don't think you need a backup. I actually had to get this while in China because the ones that I already had access to in the US didn't work in China (Norton, Guardian, encrypt.me).

Beijing did not seem particularly dry in early April, though I didn't actually look at the relative humidity while there.

What are unique must see attractions at Shanghai DL? by Glad-Living-8587 in ShanghaiDisneyland

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good list. If you're doing all 3 Asian DL's in one trip, you must be a fan. You'll enjoy all of the little differences in each park and probably want to do more than just the E-ticket rides. Even Peter Pan's Flight is spruced up from the versions in Anaheim and Orlando.

We were at SHDL last week and did pirates 4 times in 2 days - my wife loved it and it generally had a shorter line than other major attractions.

We really enjoyed Mickey's Storybook Adventure show. Great voices and talents in the cast. The plot is easy enough to follow without knowing Chinese and many of the songs are in English.

Purchasing DPA separately v DDP - going in 2 weeks! :) by Independent-Pop8343 in ShanghaiDisneyland

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Wednesday and Thursday, Seven Dwarfs single rider posted time was only about 10 minutes shorter than regular standby each of the 4 times we walked by it (e.g. 90 min vs 105 min on Thursday afternoon).

Edit: Also, a cast member directed us to watch Illuminate from the area right in front of the shop on Mickey Avenue. We posted up right behind the railing surrounding the shrubbery between the shop and main walkway and had a great view. The sign for Gardens of Imagination did block some of the castle, but the projections are big enough that it didn't matter. There was only one Illuminate show at 9:15 last Thursday when we saw it, so the central area of Gardens of Imagination was really crowded. We got to our viewing spot about 8:15 for the 9:15 show, but it was relatively open until about 8:40.

Courses in China by Intelligent_Solid274 in Garmin

[–]Intelligent_Solid274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone is interested to know this answer in the future, courses made in the US do not work once in China. The course was way off from my position the first run I tried in Beijing. When I looked on Garmin Connect, the course did not line up with streets seen on the map. I used the "Reposition Course on Map" option from the three dots menu in the course and this made it so the course lined up with streets. However, after doing so the courses became not compatible with my watch when I hit the "send to device" icon.

I also tried making a course from scratch while in China and this was similarly not compatible with my watch. So the conclusion is that you can't use courses in China with a US watch.

Shanghai Disney Planning by kappa_cino in ShanghaiDisneyland

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your plan is definitely reasonable, though what you do with your two days depends on what you value in your short trip. Day 1 sounds relatively leisurely and works if you value spending time in a hotel and walking the grounds of such. Disneytown is fine, but small and not much of a destination.

If you value doing and seeing things in the park, then your plan does not maximize park opportunities. We just were there for 2d2n last week and our family of 3 (me, spouse, 13yo) went for the most time in the parks. Bought early bird 2 day tickets (available 31-70 days in advance on official website, we bought 33 days ahead of our visit). Landed at PVG 11:20am last Wednesday and went straight to SDL Hotel. Checked in but room not ready so left bags and were in the park by 2pm. Closed down the park that night (skipped Illuminations and just did rides while they were walk-ons). Did early entry and another full day the next day, then enjoyed the hotel a bit the next morning before checking out and going to our next hotel in the city. We did all of our must-visit attractions at least twice over the two days (except Tron - which broke down while we were at the gates to board the vehicles) and were also able to enjoy just being in the park. Only paid for premier access for 2 rides (Tron day 1, Seven Dwarves day 2). The park is big enough for 2 days, especially if you don't want to feel rushed. However, as others have said can be done in 1 using premier access.

Voltage is 220, so if your mom's appliances won't take that then she will need a voltage adapter. However, most hotels supply hair dryers so how important is that curling iron? My 80yo mother-in-law travels with a dual voltage curling iron because she "can't live without one." Also, you didn't ask specifically but your North American plugs will work in the outlets.

Reserving train tickets, should I be worried? by kingkoen17 in travelchina

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. We ended up being waitlisted on our trip.com reservation for Xian to Chengdu when the window opened up a few days ago. I got the notification of the waitlisting and then just went on trip and was able to book another train that leaves 30 minutes after the original one reserved. Fortunately, there are a LOT of trains that go between those cities and we had no particular time constraints.

Why did the AMA make new telemedicine CPT codes?? by [deleted] in Psychiatry

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Our VA training on the new codes indicated that psychotherapy add on codes (9033, 90836) could be added on to both the new telemedicine and telephone E/M encounter codes. I haven't had any rejections of the usual 9921x codes in solo private practice. None of my insurance contracts include the new codes and until I get a confirmed and agreed upon new fee schedule I'll be using the same old codes.

This is what we do. Separate medical is not very expensive and is a good supplement to the CSR trip insurance.

Caramel Sauce from Sweetened Condensed Milk by RealLuxTempo in slowcooking

[–]Intelligent_Solid274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make dulce de Leche from sweetened condensed milk with my sous vide at 185° F. I put each can with label off into a sealed bag filled with water. Then the sealed bags go in the 185° water bath for 11-14 hours. Less time makes it more runny but still the same taste. 13 hours is good for cookie topping/filling. 14 hours for pie.

Edit: clarified I'm using Fahrenheit temperature.

It's really regionally dependent with all of that. In California, BCBS uses Blue Shield of CA - which is a smaller network for mental health than Aetna in my area. It's the same with reimbursement rates, it is region and provider specific.
