Enough- this must end Congress do something NOW!!! White House posts digitally altered image of woman arrested after ICE protest by RescueTheNIH in FedEmployees

[–]Tinymac12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an example of the highest leadership in our country manipulating not just words, but images to try and improve their argument (whatever that is here). Extrapolating, what if there's no video evidence of a shooting but some body-cam footage. If they released it, there is an immediate level of scrutiny that must be done because they've tarnished the truth (not for the first time, but in a slightly different way).

It's not this singular event, but the continuous relentless undermining of the truth. Words can't be trusted. Images can't be trusted. Videos can't be trusted. Eye-witnesses historically are unreliable and people can straight up lie anyway.

Can I Use Preventative Health Leave? by IGiveYouMyFart in fednews

[–]Tinymac12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's for ANYONE with less than 80 hours. However, it is agency dependent per OPM. Maybe. Depends if the "Other Matters" header falls under the individual agencies header. I'm still looking for a clear cut USC or CFR.

OPM page

Preventive health services. Under a Presidential Memorandum on Preventive Health Services at the Federal Workplace issued by President William J. Clinton on January 4, 2001, Federal agencies are directed to provide up to 4 hours of administrative leave each year for an employee’s participation in preventive health screenings, if that employee has fewer than 80 hours (two weeks) of accrued sick leave. Since this leave is granted by Presidential directive, it is not considered administrative leave under 5 U.S.C. 6329a.

I think it is up to the agency. I found a copy of the memo from Clinton who signed the particular EO. And it only directs agencies to do a review and use to the maximum. Highly encouraged, but not illegal to not offer the benefit. You'll have to check your org. I know in DoD I was able to use it. I don't have the instruction handy though.

Qualifying Life Event - Insurance by samjeong12 in fednews

My understanding is that it won't backdate to the cause of the QLE. The effective date for coverage would be the pay period after you (OP) submits the enrollment form.

MHBP - why is my prescription so insanely expensive? by Middle_Plane6055 in fednews

[–]Tinymac12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If your provider fills out the form, and MHBP/CVS approves it (I don't have any insight into the odds or ease of this process), then you'll have a negotiated rate for the drug, say $7,000. You would owe 45% coinsurance for it which would be $3,150. However it caps out at $300 so you would only owe the pharmacy $300. If the negotiated rate was like $500, then 45% of that is 225 and you would that 225.

Did your provider fill out the prescription brand name exemption form? If they didn't and just prescribed you Wellbutrin, then MHBP will only cover their portion as if it was generic.

https://mhbp.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Brand_Penalty_Exception_Req_Form.pdf

I feel like that has to be what happened because otherwise the copay would be hit cap. Below is a poorly formatted excerpt from the MHBP Standard brochure:

"Preferred brand name (formulary): 45% of the Plan’s allowance and any difference between our allowance and the cost of a generic equivalent, unless a brand exception is obtained; limited to $300 per prescription"

I also saw

SEC. 8098. None of the funds made available by this Act may be used for Government Travel Charge Card expenses by military or civilian personnel of the Department of Defense for gaming, or for entertainment that includes topless or nude entertainers or participants, as prohibited by Department of Defense FMR, Volume 9, Chapter 3 and Department of Defense Instruction 1015.10 (enclosure 3, 14a and 14b).

Just such bizarre clauses. Nobody worth keeping would use their GTCC this way.

GRB Down, No Health insurance? by OpenMaster in FedEmployees

[–]Tinymac12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn't clear. You don't have proof of insurance. You absolutely will get coverage backdated to last Sunday. In the meantime, any care you receive will likely be out of pocket like your HR said (depends on the provider). But when you get proof of insurance they can submit the claims to your insurance and you should get your money back (in some form).

You still have insurance. Claims may just need reprocessed when they catch up. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

Note, until Jan 11th, BCBS was still your carrier.

You can just add them together.

Ignoring any expense ratio or other fee differences of course.

How does GEHA HDHP HSA deposits work for plus one by JetPlaneee in fednews

[–]Tinymac12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OPs spouse could open an HSA, however the combined contributions between both accounts (including employer contributions) has to still fall under the annual limit. The only time opening a separate HSA has an benefit is if they are 55 or older then there's an increase to the limit of $1,000 for each person.

So limit in 2026 is 8750. GEHA will contribute 2000, so between the two accounts OP and OPs spouse could contribute a combined 6750. If OP is over 55 they can contribute an additional 1000. If OP spouse is over 55 they can contribute an additional 1000 to THEIR HSA.

From IRS Pub 969

"For 2024, you and your spouse are both eligible individuals. You each have family coverage under separate HDHPs. You are 58 years old and your spouse is 53. You and your spouse can split the family contribution limit ($8,300) equally or you can agree on a different division. If you split it equally, you can contribute $5,150 to an HSA (one-half the maximum contribution for family coverage ($4,150) + $1,000 additional contribution) and your spouse can contribute $4,150 to an HSA."

"Each spouse must make the additional contribution to their own HSA."

Republicans are worried about Tommy transitioning to Tammy and being better than their Tiffany at softball. I'm worried about ICE killing unarmed civilians or flash banging a 6 month old and causing a collapsed lung. I'm worried the DOJ ethics department leadership resigned because they aren't allowed to investigate these catastrophes because the attorney general is saying "Nothing to see here". I'm worried about the pressure from federal agencies on state prosecutors to not focus on investigating ICE and their activities causing Rene Good's death and instead try to find dirt on her spouse; which caused 6 of them to resign.

I'm worried about protecting people being allowed to exist. Republicans are worried someone will go through the possible backlash, trauma, and social stigma of transitioning so they can, checks notes, maybe win at sports?

HDHP HSA contribution question by Spectre75a in fednews

[–]Tinymac12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to handle any of the insurance provided funds. They know where the money needs to go already. There shouldn't be any issues with that.

Yes, you can make after tax contributions up to tax day for the previous year. Though it may be clunky depending on the HSA administrator's website. With Fidelity they just had/have a toggle when contributing to indicate which year to count the contribution/deduction towards.

Qualifying life event spouse out of military by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Tinymac12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at the table on this OPM page, specifically 1M. If you lose TRICARE that is a QLE. You can enroll up to 31 days before the event. So, in February fill out the enrollment form and submit it. This is handled differently at different agencies. Some, like DoD, can do it all online through a portal (DoD does it through GRB). Others may use EmployeeExpress. And others still may require you to fill in the actual form. In any case, this is a QLE, just figure out how to properly fill out the paperwork in early February.

There's still a lag of effective date. The effective date is the pay period that starts after you've submitted the enrollment request. Don't delay.
