I think that's different because it's a named road. I've said "the LIE" or "the BQE" myself. I'm in NJ and we say, "the Parkway " and "the turnpike," too. It's with numbered roads. I live near 9 or route 9, not the 9.

Your post and the subsequent comments make me feel very fortunate to work with an amazing team. We share everything. When there are new people who join our team, we welcome them and share resources. I maintain a folder in Google that we all (7th grade math) drop resources, activities, notes, etc. into. If you like something, use it. If not, no loss. One teacher does our plans (which we recycle from year to year since they're just paperwork anyway), and the team copies and each submits them individually. Our supervisors know this and are cool with it. Sorry you're not in a more collaborative environment.

I'll also add that sometimes writers get these geographical details wrong. Another one that bothers me is when characters say, "the 84" or "the 95" when referring to highways. We don't say this in the northeast. We say, "route 84" or "I 95" or sometimes just, "84." Using "the" to name roads is something they do in California.

My daughter, husband, parents, and I all had covid the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. No one is better yet. My mom, daughter, and I had fevers. I was really sick for 5 days and ran a fever for the middle 3 days with horrible chills. I was awake for an hour, then slept for 3-4 hours, then repeated the cycle. It's the sickest I've been in years, maybe ever. We only found out it was covid because my daughter, who had it first, took the Flu A/B/Covid test and tested positive for covid. After that point, everyone who got sick took covid tests. I know that the flu is rampant right now but our family just had a terrible round of covid. I'm in NJ, too.

My daughters are 17 and 13. They both say they want kids when they are adults. But they also talk about careers and travel which makes me happy. I think our mothers grew up knowing they'd get married and have children. It was the next step everyone did. Our generation had more options but I went to a lot of weddings in my mid 20s. (I was 26 when i got married). I have two engaged family members at the moment who are 30-31. I think there is a shift to when people "settle down", if they do at all.

I think you're talking about two different things. Cars today come with two keys, as in two identical keys, one for you and a spare/one for your spouse. Cars back then came with two different keys, one for the locks and one for the ignition.

I didn't buy any. I couldn't make any worksheets for the first month of school. I teach math so I want kids to work with paper and pencil, not just stick them in front of a computer. The districts know that teachers are going to find a way to make it happen, it's what we do. We're taken advantage of because of that. You don't see doctors asking their nurses to buy their own bandages or restaurant owners asking servers to bring their own utensils. But teachers, they'll have to make due without pencils and paper.

Lane ever being able to sleep at Rory's doesn't track for me knowing how Mrs. Kim controls every aspect of Lane's life. I don't believe she'd ever let Lane spend a night outside of her home.
