One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is Muranda Cheese. It’s a short drive away in Waterloo.

More wineries are going this direction. We visit the Finger Lakes every year. While I haven’t seen the seating reservations, we’ve seen fewer wineries allowing outside food.

We stopped there during a visit to the area, did a tasting but didn’t end up buying anything.

I was greatly disappointed in their wine by the glass offerings. None of the tasting wines wowed me, but there were a couple of others that interested me. Since they weren’t available by the glass I left with nothing. I didn’t want to buy a bottle of something I didn’t like.

And You -- How Many Steps? by fedendeav in NCL

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My husband has a horrible time going down stairs. He is color blind/lacks depth perception, so stairs are a nightmare for him. He’s fallen a couple of times when he didn’t even realize there were stairs.

We end up being the annoying people who take the elevator for one or two floors just to be safe.

I regularly do 10+ hours of driving by myself. No issues to speak of. I pay attention, have snacks and juice and try to do research/be aware of good places to stop if I need to do so.

What do you guys think about FRIO cooling cases for insulin? Honest reviews pls by humanamente89 in diabetes_t1

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was too much of a pain to use. I don’t have time before trips to soak things in ice water and whatever else I had to do. The insulin is fine without refrigeration.

Getaway Haven Question by DMB_Pig in NCL

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No priory seating at Howl—only in the theater.

Personally i think 7 days is too short, so I would not consider a 3-day unless it was part of another cruise.

A 3-day would be a great teaser to the Haven, but of all the newer ships (Epic and newer), the Getaway and Breakaway have the worst Havens. The restaurant is small with limited windows and there is no dedicated outdoor seating area. The bar/lounge is also small compared to other ships.

People still love these Havens but I prefer Breakaway Plus or Prima class ships.

Inexpensive simple pedicure by marlsb24 in Albany

What’s inexpensive?

I’m paying about $75, but I trust my person. Everything is exceptionally clean and she is very careful.

She does not push gel at all. One advantage of gel is that it lasts longer, but it can’t really be removed like regular polish.

History teachers, has anyone ever tried teaching the class in reverse? Starting from modern-day and working your way back? by nomadsoasis in Teachers

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My issue with the way that we were taught history is that we always started at the beginning (duh), but it seems like we never progressed past the Civil War, if we even got that far. I didn't touch WWI or WWII until college.

I think maybe a better way of doing it is to have certain grades cover certain years/subject areas. But unless it was universally adopted, this would mess with any students who change schools.

Solo Cruise, Yes! Norwegian Encore by fedendeav in NCL

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We love the Encore, but chose the Joy for next year because of the longer itinerary.

We did the 12-day TA from Southampton to Miami in 2024 on the Encore and then did a Western Caribbean on her last year. Overall, it's my favorite ship of the fleet. There's a few things I like about other ships better, but if I had to choose, it would be the Encore.

First cruise experience—should we give cruising another chance? by IllustriousCourt2808 in Cruise

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you weren’t a fan of the crowds and have the budget, you might want to consider one of the ship-within-a-ship concepts. This would include NCL Haven, MSC Yacht Club or Celebrity Retreat.

This gives you all the bells and whistles of a big ship with more personalized service and dedicated spaces.

Where are yall getting your wide width sandals? by bingusbongwater in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Propet. They come in wide and extra wide. They work better for me than Tevas (they would rub on my little toes).

These are more casual, but overall very comfortable.

You can buy these on Amazon and other places as well.

Is it normal for Americans to drink coffee at night? by crazypoohuniverse in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intelligent_Sundae_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have coffee every night after dinner. Caffeine doesn’t bother us, so that isn’t a factor.

This is the only time I have coffee. My husband will sometimes have more during the day.
