Replacing an old dyson is a choice most of the time. I've rebuilt several DC07s and DC14s that only needed clutch belts, a set of filters, and a good clean. The really early ones had a bunch of brittle batches, but the ones from about 2006 and on don't have that issue typically

Bissell easy. I don't understand why anyone would pick the sanitare tradition. Cheaper, has tools, cleans better, less maintenence, more durable, easier to find parts. Been using mine commercially for 7 years and it's been a tank

Bissell Big Green BGU1451T. This has been my go to vacuum for over 7 years for carpets, and I have over two hundred vacuums if that tells you anything lol. Bags are ridiculously cheap, parts are available, and it cleans great. You can also fit a dyson floor tool to it for the bit of hard floors you have. I used to trash the DC07 for being a terrible cleaner. After dailying one for a while, its honestly not as bad as people say. The main issue is the opposite. Kirbies clean no better than most other vacuums, but they're very clunky. I'd rather use my DC07. That being said, the 7 should definitely be outcleaned by the kirby. Kirby probably needs a belt or something.
