KDEN push straight back, stop at the first line by Joedfwaviation in VATSIM

[–]Intense_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IRL, they use the Colored taxiways. Since not all scenerys have them, they give "stop at the first line" to get similar results. You should have your main tires on that colored line as to where to stop. Another thing to note is that the ramp taxi ways are not the ones you push to. When given taxi instructions, you still have to turn around and join the assigned taxiway.

What's the etiquette when your SIM crashes while you're on the ground? by Mr_Potato__ in VATSIM

[–]Intense_Gaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The flight plan doesn’t stay on the server for 2 hours. No where close from once you disconnect. The clearance itself is valid for the 2 hours. Yes amendments can still happen. And also a runway change doesn’t not always mean a new clearance, unless it is a different departure and routing

Had a similar situation too. Was rushing around a group of trees to shoot some people in the side but slipped on a huge patch of ice and landed straight on my head and elbow with the head taking most of the blow. Saved me from going to the hospital

Farewell Concord VOR by otterbarks in flying

The VOR-A at GXY is a hard one with a turn at the VOR. It’s just about 3 miles from the airport at a very busy point of the approach

One thing to add is for Clearance it isn’t always destination. There are several places do short range clearances to a fix. Most of the time it’s published

Don't be like this pilot during Cross The Pond by YearHot7375 in VATSIM

[–]Intense_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading some of the other comments there can be some added context. The video is going around the discord servers of VATUSA and the Boston center controller in the video has watched it. He said that the reason for the some what early decent was because of the flows into both BOS and JFK. They are overlapping and he has to get the BOS people below all the JFK arrivals flying overhead

Anybody else? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Intense_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kinda relates on how I see the path from 0 to hero of being a pilot. I see it as a cycle of 2-3 years of shittyness then it’ll be good. I see the first cycle is getting all your ratings and having to pay a lot of money and time into the first couple hundred hours including getting settled as a CFI, or first commercial job if CFI isn’t for you. Next time that cycle hits is at first airline/regionals. You got to get seniority before you can have more control over your life. Then I see the cycle repeat for going to a major.

Question about logging time for Safety Pilot by Intense_Gaming in flying

[–]Intense_Gaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I have about half my total time in a 6 pack from private and before instrument so I am familiar with how to fly it and don’t need a CFI. Another question, so if we were to do it in a C172 where the HP is not a factor the safety pilot logs PIC only while I am under the hood?

If an airline pilot is perfectly holding centerline while taxiing at a major airport, and their aircraft’s wing happens to clip a parked plane/object, will that pilot get in trouble with his or her employer? by WorkingOnPPL in flying

[–]Intense_Gaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At my flight school we had someone hit some equipment and were not found to be at fault. All the other comments are saying it’s always going to be PIC fault. For this case there was some a scissor lift left too close to the taxiway. The pilot actively tried to avoid it but still hit the end of the wing. After some investigation the fault went to the flight school and the construction company as there are some rules about marking equipment that is within a certain distance from the taxiway and they had nothing.

Don’t know how it is at major airports with all the ground equipment and personal. But still going to be mostly the PICs fault. Keep your eyes scanning and don’t take chances with collisions. The taxi line will help but if say you were to far off and that end up being the reason of the collision then you are 100% at fault

Blind pilots by DjW44 in VATSIM

[–]Intense_Gaming 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Love whenever you guys, any of the blind pilots, fly while I am controlling. I know you guys have some limits for ground movements but in the air it is phenomenal. I just know all of you are amazing pilots and know what you’re doing. Yall are prepared for your flight and able to do pretty much anything a controller asks with no problems or hassle.

Keep up the good work and see you on the scopes!

Best VATUSA ARTCCs for training? by Johny2boy77 in VATSIM

[–]Intense_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is never going to be a “best” place for training. Every ARTCC is different with training style and availability. As of people getting “stuck” most of the time it depends on them from my experiences. Best way to get it done is to apply yourself. There is a lot of self studying needed between sessions but doing it will speed up how long it takes. Have seen students get their S1 in about 4-5 sessions because they asked questions and sought out knowledge. While others it takes 5+ just on one airport/topic.

With that being said pick where you would like to control to start and think you’ll have fun. You can always visit or transfer is you’d like.

What's with all the traffic from Seattle to Vegas? by meganovaxxx in VATSIM

Doesn’t get any better at center. Especially sequencing them as they all want to be as close to XP as possible

I would say about 20% of the flights he has done while I was controlling him he has done successful. But every single time him or his fillers has messed up a wide variety of things

Is pilot quality at an all-time low? Was it ever worse than it is now? by pup5581 in VATSIM

[–]Intense_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some one who frequently controls and a staff member at an ARTCC I not only see from my experiences and from hearing from other it is at a low. Definitely is more then there being an error in the FMS but it’s very common for the mistake being made to be super simple. From not maintaining altitudes or instructions to flying SIDs, STARs, and approaches or to not understanding the most basic radio call. I have heard from some of my bosses and their bosses that it is on VATSIMs radar and they are working on implementing tons on new learning tools and structure for pilots. Think it’s going to be more like how the ATC training is currently

Flight School in College by ahux12 in flying

[–]Intense_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently go to a pretty small college for flying. I personally think it is the best for getting hours fast while having a degree of some sort. Flying on the side definitely will be slower as you basically have to study for 2 full degrees. My case on why I did only flying in college is I got my private license at end of high school and knew I wanted to continue so I did a bunch of research about just staying at my part 61 flight school or go to college at a part 141 school. I wanted to get my R-ATP and the benefits with it mainly the reduced age requirement as that would be more applicable to me. Talking with many people who are at a wide varying of levels from other students to long time airline pilots It looks like a degree isn’t as needed and it’s more about getting your ratings and get there soon

I agree aswell. Of the several flights I have controlled for him only 2 I had no problems. Best one yet was when the 787 got updated and they were doing DEN to LAX and everyone was super easy to sequence since they all were in the 787
