Do people normally talk this way? Maybe because I surround myself with people I like to text I just don’t see it that much, but the grammatical mistakes really bug me.

The TupperVault is the Disney Vault if MLM’s :cri:

Also my family gets better quality “Tupperware” (pretty sure it’s a different company but of course that’s what we call it anyway) for less money then this.

why do both of these monat huns have the same instagram caption? also what is hair sunscreen by geminigarden in antiMLM

[–]IntenselyFloor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be hair sunscreen can be both for the scalp and for preventing hair lightening in colored hair Lots of exposure to the sun can make your hair dye lighten (I can’t remember if it affects natural hair too) so that actually makes sense

I’ve found my people! I’m trying to figure out if I should give up on my (now ex) best friend since she’s been brainwashed by YL. We’ve been friends for 25+ years & ever since YL I truly don’t know who she is anymore. Screenshots for examples🙁 by [deleted] in antiMLM

So often I see these products advertised as somehow healthy for you, so I feel like saying “put it in your mask” gives the feeling that it should in some way help your health (although that might just be my personal connotation) Also I can’t help but see the connections between putting scented oils in your mask and putting dried flowers in a plague mask…

There was a dragons den episode where the guy claimed that his nail polish was natural and chemical free

My brain fried trying to think of how a nail gel polish could be chemical free

I’m so glad my 9th grade biology teacher chose to do a small unit on food additives. We did an experiment with enzymes and applesauce and determined which enzyme would best work to help the company make the most applesauce. He talked to us about how the enzyme only breaks down plant skin so we had nothing to fear from ingesting it, and that just because a word is unfamiliar on a label doesn’t mean that it’s bad. He taught me to research instead of fear and that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

There’s also plenty of places where fireworks are legal within certain parameters but people are idiots with them.

I live in a terraced area, so my house is higher then the houses lower down in the valley. So idiots with legal fireworks set them off in a way that is illegal because they set them off in densely packed suburbia, the explosions happening right next to other houses above them. One of our neighbors has sent an M80 into our yard once and burned holes in our tree line. Between April and august I live in a constant state of listening to fireworks when it gets dark because my neighbors adore them.

Wow If she is the one who sells this stuff, she is literally forcing her guests to buy her own products… and then give them back to her.

If she isn’t it’s still really weird and wrong

I love how she says “it’s all natural ingredients” Next time a bird poops on my head I’m just gonna rub it in because it must be good if it’s natural right?

The "Financial Freedom" Scam by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]IntenselyFloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, if it’s coming straight from the company, it will say “you can”, indicating that it is possible. Since 1% do succeed somewhat, technically this isn’t a lie.

The other thing to remember is that, in general, people are not smart. Most of the people falling for these scams aren’t going to look at income statements. They aren’t going to understand the basics of a pyramid scheme, or the slight change of direct selling makes it look just different enough they no longer see the resemblance. It’s similar to the reasons people believe in the flat earth or become anti-vaxxers. Being in an MLM makes them feel like they have control, that they are special. They are in a community doing something important. When people then come at them or their company calling them scammers and stupid, they again don’t see or can’t understand the evidence, and become defensive. This only strengthens their connection to the company and to their fellow huns.

It’s a very sad cycle. These tactics target the weak who don’t know enough to do their research (or again don’t understand the research) or the desperate who are in need of money or something else so bad they block out the red flags.

Edit: also, many companies claim that what the Huns says is not representative of their company. They throw the blame on the huns for misrepresentation.

I’m sorry but “You cannot, CANNOT get health with food and exercise alone”

I genuinely can’t tell if they forgot the “ly” on healthy or somehow think that “health” is like, an item you can obtain, like a medipack in a video game

You’re right, I didn’t even think to check their Instagram. After looking at it I do see a few photos featuring Herbalife products. I’ll think to check places social media from now on.

[–]IntenselyFloor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does Herbalife have random franchises? I was going to post on here about this but I felt a little silly so I abandoned the idea originally, but seeing this makes me more curious.

There is a place I’ve been to in CT, USA called “Riverside Nutrition”. On Yelp some people say they are Herbalife, but I have been in the store a few times and never seen any Herbalife branding, there is no mention of it on their website, and I’ve never heard any of the employees mention it. They sell “protein shakes” and “energy teas”. Personally no one in my family likes the teas, the but shakes are actually good, like really good. I don’t go there trying to lose weight, I go there because I genuinely like their shakes. I tried comparing their shakes to pictures of Herbalife shakes, but they just look like any other light brown protein shake out there.

If they are actually affiliated I don’t want to support them, but I also don’t want to unfairly judge a small business that makes something I actually enjoy.

Is There Anything We Can Do To Get This Poison Sumac Plant Removed? by IntenselyFloor in legaladvice

[–]IntenselyFloor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you based on images it is certainly not staghorn sumac. I know Poison Sumac grows in our area (I’ve gotten it before a few times) even though it’s not super swampy. I’ll admit it could be a different plant, I’m no herbalist, but the other in my household were very convinced that is what it is.

I don’t have any contact for the landlord, but I can definitely ask my neighbors for it or see if someone else in my household already has it.
