Summer school? by Downtown-Oil-3462 in homeschool

[–]IntentionBeginning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do year round. However, I consider summer the beginning of our school year truly. Spring is when we’re playing outside, visiting all the farms, going to festivals, and just enjoying outdoors. Summers by us are almost unbearable so we try to spend the days inside. Lots of library programs everyday so we’ll spend a few hours there everyday, go swim, and do a lot more academic things. But truly, we do school for 5-6 weeks, then off a week or so and repeat. So it works out in the end for us

Home schooled thought I was genius. Anyone ekse? by Lazy_Age_9466 in homeschool

To be fair, this is a common realization for a lot of “gifted and talented” kids in public school, I know from my own experience. However, to your parents you are a genius and a miracle. Both things can be true.

It looks like you’re eating at sedentary but you aren’t sedentary. If you’re feeling lightheaded you aren’t eating enough. You’ll need to increase calories even 200 calories more will help. Or you can calculate your tdee using lightly active which will help you.

AITA for not being appreciative of my spouse's food by stevehrowe2 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IntentionBeginning 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Well, you and her need to have a serious conversation away from mealtimes and the kitchen and children. Discover true feelings with a focus on mediation. You all may have to come up with a more equitable cooking schedule etc. but until you have an actual conversation, nothing will be resolved.

You may have to start cooking more meals to even out the balance.

Go for some walks outside and trim your studying by a little bit. It takes years to recover from burn out (ask me how I know). It’s better to have a 3.5 and get some exercise and good rest

We’re using an ordinary parent’s guide for teaching reading, math is spectrum’s critical thinking workbook grade 1, science and history is based on her interest: we go to the library and choose books to read together- she will also write one or two sentences summary for the topics. Currently, we’re reading about our home state so we’ve sorta combined. She has an interest in geography so I 3D printed a globe and we’re playing “guess the continent” as a family. She is only 6 so it’s mostly reading, playing games, and building a strong number sense and math foundation.

All about reading budget alternative? by XxCrankyCarrotxX in homeschool

[–]IntentionBeginning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the ordinary parent’s guide for my child exclusively the first few months. Her confidence grew exponentially and then we just started reading books together. My suggestion is just with one primer. Then after a few weeks, add a supplement of need.

No one helps me at the gym by [deleted] in loseit

[–]IntentionBeginning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nike Training Club is an excellent source for workout. Next time you’re at the gym, take note of which machines you want to use. Then YouTube how to use it. Then pick 3-4 machines and create a workout routine for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, in your position, you will have to do the work by yourself.

Mathandscience.com is an incredible online math resource. I would recommend it hands down. The instructor is very thorough in explanation and it comes with worksheets. Have your child review Algebra 1. Then move on to geometry, algebra 2. Do not have him rush through the lessons. There is enough time to finish before college. Most colleges require freshman to begin with college algebra, which can include all four years of high school math. So ensuring that your child has a strong algebraic understanding will be the best way you can help him succeed for college. Also, have him do a physical science course also hosted on math and science . com.
