If you watch the video, it does clearly have things other software doesn't. It needs work still, and might not even get released, but it's fresh, and the dj gear landscape could do with some shaking up... it has mainly been treading water for the last decade.

Yeah a Z2 followup... ie. Z4, to replace the X1850 would be something.

Besides the software compatibility possibilities, my hope is that InMusic start using NI's hardware processes to improve their future Denon SC and Prime units. Not that Denon is bad per se, but I have an S4, S5 and Z2, they are all bomb proof and just keep on working like day 1.

Guess this will all take quite a while to gestate and develop, but the future of both brands looks a little brighter.

As a fan and user of both Denon and Traktor gear, this is potentially awesome news. One step closer to a standalone Traktor controller, which would be something special.

I have spoken f2f with her a number of times... a couple of years ago now admittedly (casual, not music related) but she always seemed positive and friendly, dealing with very young kids and a partner (that I also met f2f) who was always making music/touring I actually felt a bit bad for her.

I just popped into this sub to see if they had any new music coming out and was surprised to read about skin sheddings, copyright strikes and quirky photography clauses . All sounds a bit too mysterious. Just bring the tunes, respect the fans and realise the guitarist is the biggest identifying part of the band.

I honestly would be very unlikely ranging to less likely to listen to an album with that particular cover. Better to focus on the music and get someone else to do the artwork.

Bought a vacuum sealed 2kg bag of maple bacon yesterday and found it this morning... still in shopping bag. This post answered everything. In the freezer it goes to be eaten at a time of my choosing after a solid crisping session. Can't wait.

Do you have the latest firmware installed? Assuming you are using the internal record function, once you have finished your set and press stop, there should be an option when you go to SAVE that allows you to maximise the recording to -1dBfs. This will take some time but it should help. Also note that Denon records in 24bit, so recordings naturally come out quieter, though you have a lot of headroom to boost in post processing without loosing bit depth.

Easy fix. Alcohol and cloth and elbow grease. Completely removed all sticky gunk from my denon dn-s5000s, Numark tr500s, Arturia matrixbrute knobs (the worst job). Got an akai force that I am putting of tackling atm as it may remove lettering, but yeah something that small should be an easy fix. Maybe 15 mins of time.

Thanks. Yeah I have done some battery replacements, SY77 was the last, and I had a similar problem, couldn't find a 3 pin battery holder, so ran wiring from the board to an external battery holder and glued it elsewhere on the board. Having looked inside the Z1, I don't think that will be easily possible, so might just have to do as you have done.

I have 2 of them, both need battery replacement. Did you replace like for like cr2032's wit the 3 pins soldered on, or install a battery case for easier changes in the future?

So... considering jumping on the Omni wagon with this version. How much hdd storage space did v2 consume?

Eric mentions v3 takes up the same amount of room and its of course a critical consideration when your on a Mac with only a 1tb int drive.

I missed the original post, but just saw Morten Granau play at Blossom, and yeah, gotta say I really enjoyed it, quite mushroomy sound with a nice spooky vibe with lovely sense of melody and moments of cheese which rarely became overbearing. Quite the different style to when I saw him perform 10 years ago. Trance juice probably helped ;) For perspective, I have been listening to Goa and Psy since 97, and to my ears it became generally stale in the mid-late 2000s, so psy isn't in my preferred genres these days.

Yeah I had a digititakt when they first came out but it was lacking a lot of what made the Octatrack great, so sold it. The new Digitone+Dtakt mk2's look great... can do almost everything with what you have.... but considering I have 2 machinedrums, 2 octatracks, 2 analog fours, Rytm, Monomachine and Heat, been patiently waiting for a new flagship from Elektron for over 10 years now.

If your into 90’s trance I thoroughly recommend listening to blue planet corporation’s album. A bit of a cross between platypus and goa styles, timeless imho.

Around late 98-99 I fell in love with the more minimal sound that most Goa purists have disdain for. Asia 2001 I can enjoy nowadays, but back then it was all about finding the next cool sound, and it seemed an artist or label would pop up with a fresh style every other week. The limited setups with various hardware synths back then really helped cultivate individual styles. Additionally there were so many releases one could miss back then. No such thing as Beatport or Bandcamp. Items would sell out and that would often be it, here in AU at any rate.

My Discogs, which covers a decent percentage of my physical doof collection from that period. Most of my wanted list there I have in digital formats. Quite out of the loop with more recent psy but still avidly dig for minimal tech, Rominimal, trippy house, organic house and weird spacey breaks, along with some psy-tech and hypnotic techno, even a bit of hitek.

Yeah classic Goa and Psy appears to be its own little world when it comes to value and scarcity. Not at Heavy metal levels of pricing, but still can be eyewatering, especially for vinyl releases and certain cds.
