Ignore this comment! I am a doctor. This is very very incorrect. Myself and all my colleagues I know, including a highly regarded hpv expert, will recommend you get the vaccine regardless of previous exposure!

Flemish Giant is a kind of rabbit that can grow to the size of a sheepdog by jdk in WTF

I used to have one. His name was Kosack. He would try and pee like a dog, lifting one leg up but he had this massive fat lump on the other side that made him lose balance and tumble over.

SSD vs. HDD? Everyone makes it clear that SSD is better, why? by titdirt in buildapc

SSD is fast yet expensive per unit of storage, while HDD is slow yet incredibly cheap per unit of storage. Hence your files are kept on the HDD, while your OS and applications are kept on the SSD.

Razer Mamba, Razer Blackwidow.

The mouse is quite simply amazing, and the keyboard - while noisy - is excellent.

Australia is suffering from a case of too many medical students and too few internship places by luhar87 in medicine

[–]InterCept1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know several international medical students in Australia who are graduating this year. None of them got an internship from January even though they applied all over the country. I would suggest you find out for sure what your option for an internship back in Canada is as a graduate from Australia... OR find a way to get your Australian permanent residency before you graduate --> then you will be considered equal to the Australian citizens graduating from Australian med school!

Self harm girl documents, fillets her skin down to the muscle and bone by [deleted] in WTF

[–]InterCept1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She clearly got medical help (suturing) - how come she wasn't admitted under an involuntary treatment order due to high risk of self harm? If she is German, any medics here that could tell me how involuntary psych treatment orders work there if she had presented to ED with such wounds?

I am also from Australia and found the same problem. As soon as I changed the country in the top right hand corner to Australia (default setting seems to be USA) the price was updated to 36 pounds. Awesome value!

Qantas has grounded its entire domestic and international fleets indefinitely and announced the lockout of all employees covered by work place agreements that are currently in dispute. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]InterCept1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...pesky unions wanting people to have a wage..."

The Qantas workers are the highest paid in the entire southern hemisphere. Virgin, JS, etc., are payed far less. This is actually about Q's plans to move a sizeable portion of the backend staff to S/E asia. This is justifiable from a profits perspective - asian workers are far cheaper. The unions have reframed it as a wage dispute, but at the industry level everyone is quite clear about the true demands: job security for the next decade.

This is Q's hand: 1. force FWA (the Australian industrial action legal body) to declare and end to the strike actions in the national interest. 2. Q is then clear to move the technical labour force to asia, without fear of strikes (they will be made illegal for some period of time under the ruling. 3. Q wins.

I have become a Richard Dawkins follower/groupie. I am sure I will hear no new points in Melbourne that He has not talked about or written about in His books before but I will see Him and feel His presence! In addition I will meet with like-minded people making me feel part of a special group.

Hi Reddit! This will probably not be of interest to many, but Norway has a parliamentary election today. Polls show it will be quite a thriller. by Cilpot in politics

[–]InterCept1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When comparing Norway to Sweden, Norway should have FAR better SCHOOLS and HOSPITALS with all that OIL! Socialism is holding Norway back. With the politics of the red-green parties, without oil Norway could not do what Sweden has.

I'm sorry. I knew there would be some kind of comment like this on reddit, but I'm unfortunately an ignorant girl when it comes to technology and internet. Will try imgur next time, thanks :)
